p.s. Arandas is not for everybody, it is a spsnish speaking town but you will be surprise how many business owners speak your language.

Isn't Arandas en los altos and where they say the most beautiful Mexican women are? Or, am I mixing it up with another lovely city in Jalisco?

You have it right La Chula - but it can snow there in the winter - only occasionally but occasionally is too often for me.

We visited Arandas once, and I frankly cannot imagine living there. One of our closer Mexican friends lives in a beautiful home in Joco and comes from Arandas. Another friend,a doctor, is also from Arandas. Both say they would never consider living there although they visit family there regularly.

Arandas offers nothing that one would find at Lakeside-cool weather,a wide variety of cultural activities, a wide variety of good restaurants, proximity to the airport and a large town. I imagine Arandas is cheap to live in,but otherwise I see no attraction unless one has family or close friends there.

Arandas did make the news recently when a local man was presenting himself as an aide to the US Consul general and offering to process visa applications for a fee which he pocketed.

But by all means, visit the place to make up your own minds.

My wife is from a small town in los altos (the north east part of the state) so I'm of course biased but yes I think that's where the most beautiful women are.

Thank you for all your comments. Arandas is about 70 miles from guadalajara centered between Guadalajara, Leon Guanajuato, San Juan de los Lagos and Atotonilco. Its winter weather is similar to that of Las Vegas Nevada. Some of the most beautiful women do come from Los Altos as well as the best Tequila brands. Yes, Arandas is not Ajijic (thank goodness), we do not have american restaurants nor american food nor 1,000.00 dollar rental fee for a 1,500sf. home, nor do we list our prices in dollar $$. What we do have are GOOD MEXICAN restaurants where you can order from a T-Bone steak, Prime Ribe or Fajitas to a nice hot bowl of chiken soup without the Chapala area prices. As far as living here, as stated before, Arandas is a MEXICAN town as opposit to Chapala and its sorrounding areas that have been Americanized. What is done in this town and other Mexican towns is for the benefiet and well being of its countryman yet welcome foreigners with open arms. We are proud to say that we have Americans, canadians and Cinesse Expats living in Arandas who have ajusted well.So if you decide to come and visit us as a vacation trip or looking for an opportunity to invest or just retire in, remember Arandas, Jalisco MEXICO is not an American tourist town and if that is what you are looking for, perhaps Arandas is not for yow. Have a nice day and remember if you decide to visit us we welcome you with open arms....and your spending dollars as well. Buen Dia.

Arandas is a municipio (municipality) of the Mexican state of Jalisco, located in the 'Los Altos' region in the eastern part of the state. Arandas is also the name of the municipality's main township and the center of the municipal government. It is approximately 2 hours east of Guadalajara. The population of the town of Arandas was 46,099 as of the census of 2005. The town's main plaza is named Plaza Hidalgo after Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, father of Mexico's war of independence. The municipality's population as of the census of 2005 was 80,193 and its area was 1,238.02 km² (478 sq mi); however, both of these figures have been significantly reduced since 2007 with the creation of the municipality of San Ignacio Cerro Gordo from the western part of what was formerly part of the Arandas municipality. San Ignacio Cerro Gordo was the second-largest community in the municipality before the split, with a population of 9,485 inhabitants, but the largest remaining community besides the city of Arandas is Santa María del Valle, with a population of 3,902 inhabitants.

Arandas is the main Tequila production center in the Los Altos region, one of the two main tequila producing regions in the state of Jalisco: the other being the municipality of Tequila, Jalisco. Arandas is home to the Cazadores brand of Tequila, one of the most recognized brands of Tequila. At the entrance of the town there is a landmark monument that signals the entrance to the Centinela Distillery(followed by another monument dedicated to the cities founder).

Other tequilas made in that area include the following: Centinela, Campanario, Agabe Tequilana Productores y Comercializdores, Agabe Dos Mil, Campo Azul, Compañia Tequilera de Arandas, Espolon, Corazón de Agave, Del Mio, Don Nacho, El Charro Tequila,Tequila el Rey, El Tesoro de Don Felipe (Paraiso), Hacienda Vieja, SilverCoin Tequila, Tapatio Tequila, Tequilera de Arandas, Tres Reyes, Vida Tequila, Real de Mexico Tequila and many more.

I didn't use any accents but I do believe that both breasts travel together.
