Hello Spencer, This may be a difficult question, but I am wondering what the law is about stop and searches of vehicles in Mexico. Most states in the U.S. require a police officer to have probable causer to stop AND search a vehicle. In Mexico, I have been stopped randomly for no PC and then have been subjected to searches, again without PC.

Do the Mexican police have similar laws for stops and searches? I know that the check points and road blocks are different circumstances, but I was curious if they need PC to stop someone and go through a vehicle?

Thanks.

Many stops are unconstitutional and the municpal adminsitrative laws give police the right to detain people for just about anything. Few people will go to the time and trouble to complain and it does keep the peace.

I hope to have a new revamped driving guide ready for publication in the next 2 weeks.

Spencer,

When you post the new driving guide please start a new topic called 2014 Jalisco Driving Guide or something similar and I will lock and pin it and" unpin" this thread. Thanks for all the helpful information that you have posted over the years.

It is on Spencer's web page at: http://www.chapalalaw.com/trafic-guide/

I just tried to get to this page, but got a 404 error, "page not found." I'd love to read the info, though. Also the first link on this topic on page one doesn't work either.

Edit:

This link does work: http://www.chapalalaw.com/Driving.pdf

Those low numbers are exit speed limits, not the hwy.

True but they aren't obvious-confusing.
