Irish Gal
I think I already know the answer but want to check here. Our friends are driving their car together with a trailer and a quad. They will be obtaining an FMT. Their question is, can they pay duty at the border and leave the trailer and quad here for their next visit? My take on it is that if they come in on an FMT, they have to leave with the trailer and quad. Also, is there any special paperwork they should bring for the trailer and quad? RVGRINGO
The car will have to leave with the trailer and quad, which may not be permanently imported and left behind in Mexico. Proper proof of ownership should be in hand for the trip and copies in a separate location would be a good idea. In the event of theft or damage, one also needs proof of ownership for insurance purposes. People with FMT status may not leave Mexico without their vehicles.
