pinemore Posted November 5, 2009 Report Share Posted November 5, 2009 Regarding one of your recommendations for Contractor, Francisco Javier Fonseca, we had extensive work done by him, including new construction and remodel. It took almost a year and a lot of money. We would not have minded the time and money if things had been done properly. We had many things happen that should not have. One of which was extremely dangerous. The quality I am sorry to say is not there. Roadwork may be one thing. To have the type of problems we have had should not have been. Because I know a bunch of 'em whose work is at most average, at worst sub-par. Some were good once and don't care anymore, or are too busy to put in the personal effort they used to. Your experience with Francisco Javier Fonseca must be unique. He has done not only roadwork for us, but built extensive walls in our Arroyo. He came recommended by Roma Management. I also had the chance to have his work highly complimented by someone on this board whom he built a house for. She was ecstatic over his work. I've dealt with him personally for our Condo as I'm Facilities Maintenance person. His prices are ALWAYS good and his work has been high quality and done in a veey professional manner. You do have to remember that with time, the reputation and work of some contractors can slip - wonderful for sometime but then not so good. There is an inherent risk in a list of this kind - the recommendation is good for the time it was made but not necessarily for ever - thus people telling you that someone on the list was not good for then, may well be the new truth. We are not newbies and yes we are familiar with rebar and concrete construction. And yes he was also recommended by our friend from Roma. And no this experience is not unique since there were other complaints from former customers. Building a road and constructing walls is not the same as building from scratch. We were also happy with the work until things started to go wrong. There were and continue to be other issues that we are still dealing with. If you are going to post recommendations for contractors and so on you should also expect to hear from the people that may not have had a good experience. You have the right to post your personal experience with this contractor and so do we. I believe it only fair that people are aware of both good and bad experiences. But John - when people do tell you there has been a problem, you become very defensive and tell them it was not your experience, with the implication that if it was not your experience, it can't be anyone else's experience - to whit, Pinemore's posts.
