donandjim
Limited vendor and cooking spaces are still available for this year’s Mexican National Chili Cook-Off. A few meters of tiangis and tent space are still available. Interested vendors should contact Jorge Valencia (331 279 1721) Sign-up before Tuesday to assure your name and location is printed in the event program. There is still one stove available for the People’s Choice Home Cook Chili competition, set for Saturday, March 7th. Any Lakeside cook can enter with any recipe for chili. Ingredients for this year’s competition already include tequila, nuts, chocolate and even ostrich. Anything goes, so long as there is some sort of chili, red or green. Again, immediate entry will assure a mention in the event program. All sorts of interesting Salsas will be handed out to tasters on Friday, March 6th. From the traditional to the bizzare, they’ll be there. A few more varieties would be welcome as well. To sign up for the salsa or chili competition, please visit our web site: www.mexicanchilicook-off.com. Lakeside restaurant chefs will be competing on Sunday, March 8th. Last year’s first place champion, Aljandro Tatay and the crew from Saint Peter’s will be facing 2007's first place champion, Hector Espana from Manix. Alex Acevedo from Pepito’s will join the chili cook-off champs like the crew from LaPropela/El Barco in Ajijic. Wild cards Omar Vega and Santos Varela of Ruben’s Grill in San Juan Cosala promise some real surprises with their ostrich chili. Come out, join us, sample the chili and support lakeside charities on all three days.
