  1. It is in the space previously occupied by Bakery/Cafe Rustico. On the north side of carretera east of Colon. Spoke with an owner who said he hopes to open for pizza within the next 7 to 10 days. However he is open today for the World Cup game with drinks and snacks (no pizza). FB page: https://www.facebook.com/purplegarlicpizzabrothers/

  4. It seems that a well-run pizza business catering to foot-traffic can pack them in here in Ajijic Village. Just an observation.
  5. After reading all the good reviews on this board and Facebook, plus hearing from friends, my wife and I invited another couple to go out with us for Pizza at the new J&M Royal Pizza.k i must say that all four of us loved it. Probably one of the best pizza's we've had since coming to Mexico. Another thing we liked is the cozy setting. It reminds me of a New England neighborhood bar I used to frequently stop at every afternoon.
  6. Hi guys!! I'm really concerned about one of my friends. She start with a really bad stomachache last week, and is getting worse. She is going to the hospital right now, she has chills, vomit and diarrhea. She saids she start to feel bad after eating XXXXXXXin a friend's house, apparently the food was coming from XXXXXXX, the place across XXXXXXXXXX. She remember that the XXXX didn't taste good, and she only take one XXXX for the same reason. I don't know what is going on with that place, I generally hear good comments but lately I hear a couple of bad comments and someone told me that they were recycling the old XXXXX What do you think? Did someone have the same problem? Edited by Mod5
  7. Gerardo, who was chef at Hosterla del Arte, has just opened his own place west of Ajijic on the south side of the carretera between Ancla restaurant and the LCS Todo Bueno thrift shop. He is specializing in gourmet thin-crust sourdough pizza. Wine and beer are available, along with a few other items such as portobello gratinado de brie. He plans to deliver pizza as soon as he finds a good delivery person. The restaurant is fairly spacious and nicely furnished, with parking directly in front. Currently open 8:00 to 2:00 and 5:00 to 11:00. (I presume there is a breakfast menu for the early hours.) Closed Tuesdays. You can order ahead by calling 333-597-3076.
  8. This Thursday, January 14th, Bistro@ Ocampo71 in Ajijic has generously agreed to contribute 50 pesos for each pizza purchased after 6:00 p.m. to Lucky Dog Rescue and Adoption. Please come out and support this dog shelter. No additional purchase or tickets required! It couldn't be easier! Eat pizza, support homeless dogs.
  9. For those who don't know Perry's is still offering free beer if you bring in a packet of diapers for Rosario. Thanks to all those who have donated already. We have quite a bit of stuff to give Rosario and her family and we are probably going to have an event to celebrate and hand it over at Perry's. Now, for this event Perry has promised 10% discount on all pizzas and still you get free beer with a pack of diapers. Diapers are for an 11Kg child. He also has a new pre-paid pizza card - 10 pizzas for 1000 pesos - which makes the best Lakeside pizza pretty cheap. They don't expire and you can pick one up from Perry's Pizza (on Guadalupe Victoria between Aldama and Encarnacion Rosa in Ajijic) I will let you know about Rosario's event closer to the day - we are waiting for Alex Peterson to come back from his border trip with a little more stuff for Rosario. I hear he had car problems? More info on Rosario here http://prylett.wix.com/help4rosario
  10. Perrys is now open Monday to Saturday 12 Noon To 8 pm.
  11. Just dropped by Perry's today with some chili in mind and instead found out that he's now serving pizza! And oh my is it ever great pizza! For starters the crust, the foundation for any great tasting pizza, is delicious in its own right! Not at all like many other "pizza" places around here where the crust is often like eating cardboard. This is an excellent tasting crust, not too thick and not too thin. And it was cooked to perfection with some slight charring on the outer edge. The sauce is also excellent and very well balanced, not too acidic and not too sweet. Perry uses a mix of four cheeses on each pizza; mozzarella, cheddar, provolone, and Parmesan. You can have just a 4-cheese pizza, or add pepperoni, salami, and probably some other meats that I have forgotten. For extra toppings, you can add red onion, green pepper, fresh mushrooms, black olives, and I'm sure there are probably more toppings that I also can't recall now. There is just one size for now, an ample 13-inch pie, which will easily feed two people and all varieties cost only 125 pesos. You can eat in or order it to go. He even has regulation pizza boxes! It is far and away THE best pizza that I have had here at lakeside, and I have tried them all out of desperation. From now on, Perry's is my go-to pizza place. If you too have been craving some really good pizza down here, I'd recommend that you go give Perry's pies a try. He is located on Guadalupe Victoria #82. Turn south onto Aldama/Madero (across from the Pemex), and then turn right (west) at the first street. He is 3 or 4 buildings down on the left. 376-766-2841

    Pizza Lakeside

We both grew up in Chicago and when Ww2 ended and Italian Americans and their cousins from Italy came over and back from the war the Pizza / Mom and Pop taverns began popping up. High School pizza parties 4 yrs x 2 makes us pretty close to being official pizza connoisseurs . Italians were in every neighborhood so. It was never hard to find fabulous Italian food. Lakeside Pizza...we tried Trattoria Ajijic tonight Friday, and there was a young gringo couple there and us. We wanted to try their pizza so our waiter Alex attentive and funny said we could choose our own ingredients. What we ordered was Italian sausage, mushroom, onion basil mozzarella Parmesan . Brick oven baked.. Italian sausage is key ingredient and it wasn't much more than hamburger meat. Note about that, Italian Sausage at Tony's is good.. Crust was thin therefore crispy.. Nice favors. We are used to more pizza sauce and no place here so far does that.
  13. This week Perry's is having Pulled Pork Sandwiches. We also have a new Wood Fired Pizza Oven putting out some good Pizzas. Perry

  16. Just got back from a delicious mid-afternoon meal (aka "comida") at Il Giardino (Av. Madero #430-A, Chapala). They're located next door to La Lena restaurant, about 1/2 block north of the main plaza and on the west side of the main street leading down to the lake. #1: They have 3 vegetarian offerings (pizza, lasagna, salad)--which is rare in Chapala. #2: The pizzas are baked in a wood-fired pizza oven and are very tasty. #3: They have a variety of other foods (steamed salmon and veggies, blackened fish, fetuccini, calzones, BBQ ribs and wings, hamburgers, steaks, nachos, baked panela cheese, and more. The prices are moderate (pizzas range from $80p to $120p), and the atmosphere is pleasant. They're open every day, from 1-10pm and will deliver. Phone: 376-108-0350 or 331-256-0502. I recommend them highly!
