  1. The Ajijic Fishing Club went to Christiana Park on April 30th to provide some fishing fun for kids attending "Kids Day" at the park. Hundreds of kids attended and a lot of them came to us and spent some time catching plastic fish in a few inches of water. It doesn't sound very exciting, but even after we ran out of prizes, the kids kept coming, smiling, laughing. We probably won't be remembered by the kids, but the parents thanked us . Possibly they will be Fishing Club members some day.
  2. Lisa, has her usual a teaser to get you to subscribe. She writes that "Mega" development was approved. There is a map but I cannot make out where it is. Is this for real? I do not have a subscription as she never reimbursed us subscribers the last time she was doing this and then just stopped . Not even when sent an email and asking for it.

  5. LOST SERVICE DOG - URGENT: Bella, our beloved dog is still missing (4 days now) but we have new hope if you help us. Bella has a "Tile" bluetooth GPS tag on her collar that transmits to cell phones within 150 feet running the "Tile App". If you are Lakeside, PLEASE HELP US. It will take less than 5 minutes and may SAVE Bella's life. TILE INSTRUCTIONS: 1) Download the Tile App (no cost), quickly create an account, and enable Tile Notifications: /www.thetileapp.com/es-mx/ 2) Message me (+1 415 746 0768) with your email address used for Tile account. 3) We'll "Share" her collar tile with your account and you will see it in your Tile app. 4) Keep the Tile app OPEN in your cell's background and make sure Bluetooth is "on." The main top Tile icon will light up green if you are within range of her. If you get a signal, call me at +1 415 225 3258 PLEASE, at ANY hour. "Tile" does not access your data; any website about it confirms it is a legitimate app. Alone, finding Bella is a needle in a haystack but with Lakeside community help it becomes a dragnet and we will find her!! If you don't want the reward we will give it to a shelter. Please also SHARE this info.😭 OUR BELLA: Bella got scared of the fireworks and jumped out of a crack through an under-construction elevator shaft and dropped 9ft from our house at 6pm Thursday night and does not have the skills to survive on the street. She is a 10-year old white Maltese, ten pounds/4+ kilos, last seen on Rio Lerma in Rancho del Oro. Small but fast so she could have covered a good distance by now. Friendly, approachable, loves kisses. Wearing a blue/yellow/red striped collar with white GPS Tile tag. Silver name tag reads Bella and gives both "415" and "650" phone numbers for Mel and Aura, and a California address. She is visiting and not likely to know the way back here. If you find her please call 376 766 2863 or +1 415 225 3258. If you have friends around Lakeside, please SHARE this post. 🙏 We're beyond devastated and just want or baby back. 💔

  8. Who would I contact to remind the Mayor that there are significant opportunities to attract internet technical workers from all over the world to Chapala/Ajijic. All that would be required would be access to the Federal internet super high speed connection (which runs along the toll road to CDMX). Maybe even the Federal government would pay for a limited connection. It would attract a younger crowd, with good paying jobs, who would rather work in the great weather and easygoing, healthy lifestyle here. It really wouldn't take too much to attract these people here. Once started, word would get around very quickly. Maybe even Carlos Slim could get behind this initiative. If Telmex was gifted access to speeds up to 100mps, I'm sure they would be willing to technically support it, etc. Yes, they will probably attract call centres here too - but that creates a lot of employment.
  9. FREE BEGINNER PICKLEBALL CLNIC! Pickleball is what happens when you take the best parts of tennis, badminton, and ping pong, and wrap them up into their own addictive game. This coming Thursday, August 16th, Sam Recinos and Kevin Duff will be leading a one hour pickleball clinic from 6:00-7:00PM at the Montecarlo Hotel. If you would like to try pickleball then please contact Kevin (kvnduff@gmail.com) to reserve a spot in the clinic. FUN GUARANTEED!
  10. In the process of interviewing potential builders for a new house. I've talked with Mr. Cawthorn and now would like to find some others who have used him for a remodel, an addition, built a new home, etc. to get their comments on the experience in general, the workmanship, timeliness, cost, etc. You can post her, or send me a PM. Thanks.

  21. I am looking for a nice rental in Chapala close to the market with an outdoor seating area for December, January, February and possibly more. The perfect rental that I had for several years is no longer available. It is just for me but I need room to put up a long table for my art work. I have a walking issue so must be near the main market area. Please PM me if you have a lead and I will have a Chapala resident friend check it out for me. Thank you. Lorraine

  25. I'm finally grounded after 10 days of loud music torture here in Chapala. Expo has ended and the 8-12 hours of music from 4pm til 4am or thereabouts is over. This is the same technique the CIA uses to drive people crazy like Panamas Noriega or Wacos David Koresh! Entertainment for 100 or so people that disturbs and denies a decent night sleep to thousands. The noise sweeps over the entire Plaza de Toros Barrio and up the hills. Two or three tuba bands, then a headliner that comes on 11pm or later, usually later. Noise til 2 or 3 AM, then a few drunks left in the stands to mouth off or some kid practicing being a disc jockey. It's torture. Doesn't the neighbors of the Chapala bull ring do enough for the community? We host the Monday Tianguis for petes sake! Thrn too Chapala hosts endless weekend tourist activities, we are here for your holidays too. And yet for the diversion of a few the many are denied sleep or comfortable use of their homes!...? How much productivity is lost to nights of just a few hours sleep.? Its not just the gringo who is upset, my Mexican neighbors have had enough too. And I know those who live by the Park Christiana feel the same; thousands tortured for the diversion of a small number of out of towners who come so late to the events no local merchants prosper. Who really profits? An out of town promoters takes control of the lives of large segments of the local population, tortures them for his profit. Why do we put up with that? I know Ajijic suffers from the same problems. Somehow we have to push back against the forces that would turn all of Lakeside into some destination tourist zone with complete contempt for those who are residents here. Can something be done to regulate or need this torture!? Can we at least stop all activity at midnight!? Limit the number of continous days? Set limits on music volume.!? Lakeside is first and foremost residential, economically and culturally so let's respect the people who live here!
