  1. Hello. Perhaps some of you read an article by the title of "LCS introduces art through the lens", written by Dale Palfrey in the latest Guadalajara Reporter. I am the person in the photograph, my name is Miguel Serrano. There is not much I can add that was not stated in the article already, perhaps just share that the course is not based strictly on digital photography; in fact, it aims to focus more on artistic expression, through the instrument that we call "camera". The use of analogue processes is also in our plans. I would also like to add that we have a very special group, as most attendants are already partaking in other artistic and creative endeavors, and almost all are teenagers. I am happy to report that we've been able to secure 6 point-and-shoot cameras, for which our team is very grateful. These are the cameras that we've been using thus far, but they come with their fair share of problems. To list some, one is missing a battery, two cameras use somewhat obscure methods for storing photographs, most are very limited in functionality and two are just in very bad shape. I don't mean to come across as ungrateful or unhappy, in fact, it's quite the opposite: I'm amazed that some persons were so kind as to donate this gear to us. However, this represents a problem as there are not enough cameras for the attendees, and it's left me worried as I have felt a strong interest and desire to learn from every single person that has attended our class. I am not overstating. This is a call for help. I would like to request aid in getting more cameras. It doesn't matter if it's a beat up camera, if it is old and shoots on film, if it is an "ugly" or a "bad" camera. They are all helpful. We are more focused in the photograph than the camera, but to fulfill the goals of this course it is crucial that we have the necessary tools. You can reach me by email at serrmigue@gmail.com, my cellphone number is 449 553 0197. You can also find me at the LCS gazebo every Saturday from 10 am to 12pm, where we teach the course. Additionally, you can reach out to one of my partners, Michael Searles at mbemsea@gmail.com He has made a great effort to gather all of the cameras that we have so far. Thank you.
