  1. Question for homeowners who installed and use their solar systems. We are planning to install a whole-house solar system Not quite entirely off-grid setup (will keep CFE meter and account as a fallback option). Wondering what is involved in maintaining the solar system? How often? Can we be away for months at a time, with only the cleaning lady and the gardener visiting the property regularly? What are the most likely things, if anything, that can go wrong during our absence?
  2. I know this topic has been covered here already, I've been reading through some great discussions regarding Solar PV setup and usage in Mexico. I want to be 100% sure regarding my understanding of my CFE bill. I have a large solar array (5kw system - 20 panels @ 250watts each) with inverter (outback) and battery backup. Unfortunately I've been unable to get anyone reliable to setup and care for the system to ensure it's producing and topping off batteries and putting power back into the grid. Our goal has always been to use a little power from CFE as possible and be as close to "net neutral" as possible. I have had 5 different companies come out and inspect the system and offer their proposals. I have also had a company service the system recently and replace the Outback Inverter, telling me that it was not working. So in short, very frustrated, very expensive, no results and expensive CFE bills. From what I understand after looking at my CFE bill.. I am not selling any power back to CFE. Is this correct?
  3. I'm trying to stay home these days as I'm an older diabetic. I need to pay 3 CFE accounts online. Someone suggested XOOM. It set up easily with my PayPal. But when you pay bills with XOOM, even if it knows you are paying a specific CFE account in Mexico, XOOM wants to know the name and address of the business you are paying. What do they need for this? Is it a local CFE office, or the rather long address on the top front of my CFE bill? That address is starts off: CFE Suministrador de Servicios Basicos, Rio Rodano No. 14, colonia Cuauhtémoc, ........ Sure could use some help on this. I know many of you pay your CFE bills with XOOM. Thanks in advance.
  4. I am going to CFE Chapla to sign up today. I just received my Temporal Visa yesterday and will be moving into a condo in Ajijic this weekend. With all that is involved in moving here I forgot to sign up at CFE till now. Can someone please tell me what will be needed? Will I need the rental contract, Visa, Passport, and deposit or anything else? Thanks!
