  1. CAT LOVERS Lakeside - URGENT ALERT Two months ago, there were about 50 wonderful cats of all colors and personalities in the Riberas Cat Shelter. Then there were 87, today (and I don’t know the exact number, but I think, over 100) in overcrowded suites, and at least another 20 or more kittens. Many people are going north, and not taking their cats with them, instead taking them to the shelter. There is NO MORE ROOM. Now they have to be turned away, and will end up on the streets. There is a DESPERATE NEED FOR ADOPTIONS. If you are in a position to give some of them a “Forever” home, please consider adopting one, two, three or more. Think about the JOY one cat gives you, and multiply that by the number of cats you will have. One cat alone doesn’t have another of its own kind to play with, cuddle with and love. If they have a buddy, they will not love you any less. I grew up with one awesome cat, the reason why I love them so much, but ever since, there have always been at least 2 or more. It is so much better to have a multiple cat household. Please visit the shelter. You can go in any of the 11 suites and sit with them, invite them to your lap, give them love, treats, or play. Shelter visiting hours are from 10 – 2 Mon - Sat, but the cats are more active between 10 and 12, and tend to take naps in the afternoon. Please treat yourself and the cats to some time together. Perhaps you will find one or more that bond with you.
  2. CAT LOVERS ALERT You are needed to give companionship to the cats at the Lakeside Friends of Animals Cat Shelter in Riberas. There are about 50 wonderful cats of all colors and personalities who need human interaction. You can just go in any of the 11 suites and sit with them, invite them on your lap, give them love, treats, or play time. They would all love a Forever Home, and the more interaction they have with people who love them, the more adoptable they will be. The cats are more active between 10 and 12, and tend to take naps in the afternoon. Please treat yourself and the cats to some time together. I think that you will find it a very rewarding experience.
  3. We appreciate the helpful and heartfelt responses to our post about finding an adult cat, and we are grateful to Anita at Anita's Cat Sanctuary, and Sue at Friends of Animals/Riberas Pet Store for offering numerous beautiful cats shelter, food, care and safety. Just before Thanksgiving, we found Mango patiently waiting to be noticed in the cat shelter at Friends of Animals/Riberas Pet Store. She now roams our home, noticing every nook and cranny, alerting to all the new sounds, finding new hiding places, and quietly watching her strange new humans as we go about our daily activities. She is a calico-colored American Shorthair (guessing her breed). Cat lovers, please remember to support and promote the two fabulous organizations we visited who offer safe haven to soooooo many beautiful cats. Mango will be well-loved. .
  4. Adorable, fluffy kittens available. Semi-long haired (the textured hair that looks long but never tangles). Vaccines current. These kittens are being raised with adult cats, a 2-kilo Chihuahua, and a 50-kilo Belga Pastoral. So ... they are very dog tolerant! They eat Costco cat kibble. Born on St. Valentines Day. All have fluffy gray tails but gray spots vary from 1-5. Call Dianne 333-159-7734 (do not leave msg) for an appointment to choose your baby. First come, first served. Chapala-Soriana vicinity.
  5. Margo with another Foxy (fat white Maine Coon) question: Will it be difficult to find an inexpensive small apartment or casita that accepts cats for long term rentals?
  6. Question for bird and cat lovers: I really want to bring my cat here to Ajijic. Problem is she loves to catch birds and my beautiful garden is full of them. So far I've not found a new home for her back in the states and the house closes the end of June. Waaaahhh! Any suggestions from anyone? She has lived as an outside/inside cat and we have our doors open all the time, so keeping her inside isn't an option. Has anyone every tried the birdbesafe collar? Thanks.
