  1. Where would I find really large ones in stock....15 inch diameter and about 20 inches tall, mas o menos? Can be regular flower pot shape or those in animal shapes. Gracias in advance!
  2. It depends on the agent at GDL; we have had some tell us to get stamped out at MEX, a few have stamped us out at GDL. Immigration counter at MEX is near Hall (gates) K where most international departures are. Once you are at Hall K, it is not hard to find. Many info booths at MEX, just ask for "migracion" and they will point you in the right direction.
  3. We have donated to families of Mexicans with low paying jobs to offset medical bills. We regularly support local charities who help children with disabilities of all sorts and/or are orphaned/abandoned. Have seen a few expat Go Fund Me pages for people who appeared publicly to be quite well-heeled (better homes than most, pictures/names in the local gringo paper/magazine at various social events of the seasons). Contribute to an expat Go Fund Me page? No way Jose'.
  4. The ones I bought are crunchy, definitely not cooked. Not biggie, will boil in broth before continuing my pozole recipe.
  5. You use your savings to cover catastrophic illnesses or surgeries. If you can't do that you may need to return to the US and use your Medicare (you are 1 year away per your stated age). Many expats return to the US for health reasons, including having Medicare cover their big ticket items. At age 65 you will need to decide whether to obtain Part B or opt out of it.
  6. No, no account needed for GAP when accessing at GDL. I power up my netbook and check for available networks, and the GAP is there and I click on it, and away I go. I use it to surf the net, not sure how it interfaces with Whatsapp on a phone. Oh....unless you are saying you need to create a Whatsapp account??? That is true, but not a big deal....I have one for US phone number and another for MX phone number.
  7. Use it all the time (at least every 6 to 8 weeks we fly out of GDL), works fine. I use it in departure gate areas. Maybe once out of a few dozen times in the past 3 years it did not work. Have never used it in the arrival or ticket areas.
  8. It was the annual Coca Cola Christmas Caravan. They do it all over Mexico and have done so for decades. Last night there was one in Ajijic and other nearby areas. I saw it on FB but cannot find the link now.
  9. If you lie to the insurance agent, are you willing to lie to doctors about the medications you are currently taking?? If so, you risk bad drug interactions and an invalid treatment plan. If you end up in a hospital in an emergency, my guess is you will not lie about your current medications. Then you risk rejection of a claim because you lied to the insurance agent about your pre-existing conditions. The insurance company will most certainly review your hospital medical records before paying a hospital claim.
  10. I am certainly aware of the straw debate....plastic versus paper versus metal. But I really don't get it...I think the last time I used a straw was when I was 7 years old. Yes, there are people with medical conditions who require a straw, but most adults (and children) are capable of sipping a beverage without the aid of a straw.
  11. I would like to know, too! I am guessing Tuesday for these weeks, though that's Christmas Eve when many businesses close early (noon in most cases) or don't open at all. Anyone know Ajijic Tianguis days/hours during Holiday weeks, for certain??
  12. Are the shrink-wrapped kernels cooked or raw?
  13. Just sent our problem report to Ilox. This is the email to use: noc@mail.ilox.mx
  14. Exactly the same here. We just returned home after a 2 week vacation and have noticed intermittent "drops" the past few days. Never for more than a few minutes, and not that often (to our knowledge). Hasn't become annoying enough to complain to them.....yet. We've been enjoying ILOX since May or June, in Centro Ajijic.
  15. Agree with CG on app....never had success with it. To the OP...just go to their website and print your bill; you can take printed bill to OXXO to pay (or wherever is most convenient for you). The bill will be at their website at least a few days before the bills are delivered to your house.
  16. @gringal Agree that the hamburguesa de cordero at Cocinart is tops! Comes with a big dollop of softened goat cheese and sauteed mushrooms. Doesn't need ketchup or anything else. Merendero Lake also has a lamb burger that is excellent; comes with caramelized onions and a red wine sauce. Merendero also has the best hamburguesa de camarones....super spicy chipotle sauce on it. I had Tony's grind some pork with extra fat and made into kimchi pork burgers at home. Burgers don't mean beef, at least not to me.
  17. Here is answer given at their FB page when asked for location: Vicky's Sourdough Donuts We are at 103-A on the libramiento. About 1 block from Walmart. We are before you reach the Oxxo and on the opposite side of the road.
  18. The late Queen Mum (QE 2's mother) had two hip replacements, one at age 95 and the other at age 97. She lived to age 101 (died in 2002). Prince Philip (QE 2's husband) had hip replacement last year at age 96.
  19. It is next to the United Airlines ticket counter. We have been there as early as 5AM and the office has been open. INM is aware of the departure times of out-of-Mexico flights and staffs the counter to handle those passengers.
  20. Please allow me to muddy these waters further. The info below is copied from their FB page. 1a Feria del Tachihual Ajijic 2019 Dec 7 at 9 AM – Dec 8 at 10 PM
  21. If you go to their website during business hours, you will find the list of eateries for which they deliver. There are different minimum order amounts for the restaurants. You have to give them your street address; there are different delivery fees and I think it is based partly on the distance between your home and the eatery, since they show the distance in km. They also indicate the hours that delivery is available for each restaurant and they show for most, the estimated delivery time. This is the website, https://www.traitte.mx/
