  1. Also happy with STI since 2017; they are also responsive for post-installation service.
  2. AFAIK getting a QR code for a US vax is dependent on where you got the shots. Some cities, states, agencies provided QR codes (some after the fact), most did not. Neither the local FL health department where I got 2 shots, nor the AZ Walgreens where I got my booster have provided QR codes. I haven't needed to show card yet for travell yet, but have loaded pics of them on my phone. In looking at requirements for US citizens going to EU, the countries understand the lack of QR codes in US and have alternate means to upload your card, etc.
  3. Or it could have been a puff pastry block they sell at Walmart?? On the frozen pie crusts; I haven't bought here in years, mostly because the ones I did buy here were very very shallow and could not hold much filling.
  4. fyi, Baja Norte's last day at their current location is Sunday 28 Nov. They are moving into the old Trattoria at the southwest corner of Galeana and the carretera in Ajijic (directly across from the OXXO). They are currently renovating the place and expect to open in December.
  5. fyi, Gloria's are excellent, cooked in syrup. If you want plain baked ones, I had been getting at Las Chulas frutería on the carretera in Ajijic just east of Colon on the mountain side. Have been spotty of late, but they thought they'd get in more on Friday. Quien sabe. If they have them they are usually in a wooden crate in front of the cashier. Or just ask for camotes cocidos.
  6. She is south of Guadalupe Victoria, on the east side. She has a large open pot of them, usually easy to see. I think she's a bit closer to G. Victoria than to Constitución.
  7. fyi, I got 21.07 at ATM early this morning.
  8. I got a text from them saying we are in affected area about an hour ago. Lower Ajijic Centro.
  9. For future reference the answer is YES. Got some nice soft sweet camotes from Gloria this morning.
  10. http://semanariolaguna.com/60947/?fbclid=IwAR3CsVR6V9AyYJzH5bdokbBTnPl4a_k8i0ymzH3hB_aks271chZor_T4Ao0 The town of Chapala is one of the locations where the Warner Media series in production for HBO, tentatively named Mariachis, will be filmed, with the participation of singer and actor Pedro Fernández. Filming will take place for 10 days in the town. Afterwards, filming will begin on another series by HBO, called Pancho Villa, also set to be filmed in part in Chapala, according to production personnel.
  11. Hey :()....the q. is about getting TESTS not shots.
  12. I believe Luis Miramontes has a large van and does tours and/or drives your group to wherever you want to go. Luis has been our airport driver for many years and never let us down. Bilingual. He uses whatever size car is suitable for people+luggage. He has other drivers he contacts when he is busy and all are competent, polite, good drivers, timely. Easy communicator; I use WhatsApp to contact as I prefer having details, times, dates, etc. in writing 331 307 8289
  13. Is the person who sells cooked camotes (yams) at the Ajijic tianguis still around? Would like to buy some already prepped for 🦃-Day.
  14. Nov. 22nd is the feast day of St. Cecelia, patron saint of musicians. Per online newspapers there were many celebrations locally from Joco to Chapala. There was a mass in her honor at the main church in Chapala which drew a large crowd. It was followed by a procession by musicians on the Chapala malecón to honor her. SAT had a very large music show yesterday on their plaza to honor St. Cecelia as well.
  15. If you've done one of these with a local attorney or Notario, I'd appreciate the name(s) of professionals you have used. If you prefer to PM, that's fine, too. Gracias in advance.
  16. Remember this? I do....we had walked past Pranzo's and wondered why there were no customers on a Saturday afternoon. Found out later el tigre (it was actually a jaguar) had preceded us there and everyone ran inside for cover. https://www.theguadalajarareporter.com/index-php/news/news/lake-chapala/47784-wild-cat-gets-loose-in-ajijic-kills-chihuahua/
  17. Ask at the clinic or the doctor's office offering it. They will tell you. I asked the doctor last year and he showed us the box it came in and said he had to purchase it through a private company. Last year there was a shortage of flu shots around here, doesn't seem to be an issue this year. The prices here aren't far out of line with this chart. The Cost of a Flu Shot without Insurance at Pharmacies Location Price CVS Pharmacy Quadrivalent: $40 High-dose: $67 Walmart Quadrivalent: $35-$40 Rite Aid Quadrivalent: $40 Costco Quadrivalent: $20 High-dose: $40 with membership $47 without Walgreens Quadrivalent: $41 High-dose: $70
  18. Do they teach driver's ed in schools here? If so, do they emphasize motorcycle and scooter skills and safety? Is there a separate test for m/c riders? In US the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) conducts classes in conjunction with State DMV's where the riders are educated and tested for licensing (I've taken courses/testing in VA and AZ). Any sort of group here that teaches m/c safety?
  19. I realize I can upload my hard drive's files/folders from my Windows PC to Google Drive, but that seems tedious. Is there a faster way, perhaps using a USB cable? I have Googled and found conflicting advice. Would appreciate anyone with recent experience. Gracias in advance.
