I just drove to the Oxxo with my mask on and disinfecting wipes. Paid my Telmex and my Telcel, bought onions, avocados, 2 giant loaves of whole wheat bimbo bread, 2 jars of peanut butter, 4 boxes of milk and corn flakes. I am now stuffing my face with  Sabritas and onion dip because it's the first treat I've had in four weeks. Carry on.

And that is a good reason to wear the mask in the house too!  😉

Please read the following which clarifies terms and also the limits on what the government can do to enforce, while legally it may be difficult for the authorities to act, you would not want to place your fellow man at risk nor fight with the police who could jail or fine you first causing you grief and money only to be later exonerated.

So the stay at home order for 60+ is encouraged but not absolute.  Most of us are smart enough to do essential tasks (while wearing a face mask, of course) and then go home.  As far as the gatherings if no more than 50, I don't even know that many people and isn't Chapala's regulation no more than 10?

Interesting comment from AMLO..... " Regarding the analysis that was given this Thursday, López Obrador assured that he does not consider that Mexico will be overwhelmed by the coronavirus and that there will be no need for beds or fans or specialists; He stressed that the objective of his government is to save many lives."

With that pronouncement from on high..... RIP Mexico!

Fans?  I'm guessing that is a faulty translation of ventilators as a fan in Spanish "ventilador.". Fans are easy to acquire, ventilators not so much.

I don't think they are clueless-just oblivious and don't care.

In my book clueless and oblivious are the same thing.  Don't care is unforgivable.  They might care if one of them or a family member or grandma got suck or even died.  Stay at home and social distancing are selfless acts so you don't infect others in case you are infected.  That is also the primary reason for wearing a mask, to protect others.

In CHiapas piloncillo  is known as panela and t s used in coffe de olla and gives it a unique taste.. It is also offerd at wakes alongside cofee. and the forever present cocacola..

It has its unique taste..and is unlike brown sugar.

Panela is what piloncillo is called in Colombia too.  There is comes in bricks, not the cond shape here.  What form is it sold in in Chiapas?  In Colombia they make agua de panela, which is just hot water with panela melted in it, so essentially sugar water.  It is common to drink agua de panela at breakfast.

Please consider going to mom & pop stores rather than Walmart. First, as has been shown here, you are entering a space where there are thousands of people who have little regard for health procedures. Do you think disinfecting of the carts, aisles, registers at Walmart is effectively done? You are endangering yourself and others.

Besides that Walmart does not treat their employees well in regard to pay or benefits.

Finally, Mom & Pop stores keep more of the profits here locally to help the local economy and local families. They've really been hurt by the pandemic and need our help now more than ever. The gazillionaires of the Walton family don't need your money nearly as much as these local family and business do.

It may require you to hunt but you can find ANYTHING at a local store that you need and it will be of as good or better quality and at or a better price than you'd get at W. If you keep going to local businesses and develop relationships you can even get special orders and things you'd never get at Walmart. But I've seen the crap produce they sell in Walmart and it is very bad and far below the quality you can get in local markets. You have to look and find the right ones.

Stop sending your money to US business interest that do are harming the local Mexican economy, please.

Are you basing your statement that Walmart doesn't treat  its employees well in terms of salary and benefits on what Walmart does in the US or what Walmart does in Mexico?  Labor laws are different between the two countries so pay and benefits like health care vary between there and here.  The employees at Walmart are Mexican and count in those jobs to support their families just as the owners of the local abarrotes do.

This is not what I understood Dr. Lopez-Gatell to say on this evening's press conference.  I thought he saud brewing beer is not an essential business.  I could have misunderstood him.  Who else listened to his answer to the reporter who specifically asked about thus?

I didn't think I misunderstood.  Brewing beer is nit essential.  Better go buy your supply before it becomes as scarce as toilet paper in the US.

As pointed out by people who actually shop there, the store is mostly imported goods. I would not consider it a "grocery store" at all. Sure, like I said, they have some basic goods. For example, I would consider Mexican Campbell soups to be "basic". Does he have any? No. Does SuperLake? Yes. Does he have Mexican branded sliced bread? No. He has pricey loaves. But Soriana does. And they deliver. And SL delivers. And so does El Torito, which can be considered a basic goods grocery store. So, for those who don't know, and that would only apply to newbies, my point was important.

But you know, feel free to take another swipe, because that's what you do best.

Just an FYI...Super Lake no longer carries Mexican Campbell's soups, just imported ones.  Truth is, other than a few like elote, crema de poblano and crema de champiñones, even Walmart and Soriana don't carry much Campbell's soups anymore.  Even pollo con arroz can be scarce.   I wonder why that is.

  9. If I am at Centro Laguna and want to go to Walmart, I never try to cross the carretera.  I go up to one of the Centro Laguna exits and exit southbound onto the libramiento.  Lots easier and safer.  Unfortunately there is no good way to exit Walmart and head west.  But i do think nobody should try to exit from near AutoZone.  Why the did not put in  4-way stop light at that intersection is beyond me.

CURRENTLY CLOSED WHILE WE MOVE LOCATIONS. New location to be in San Antonio ❤

I saw M&J Pizza had an ad in the Guadalajara Reporter wishing Purple Garlic Brothers good luck in their new San Antonio location. Does anybody know where they will be in San Antonio?

After reading this, we gave Min Wah a try. Both the soup and the two dishes we tried were so overladen with salt that we struggled to eat them. The almond chicken was made with peanuts, not almonds, a fact my partner concealed until later.

The service was excellent, the prices reasonable, but the salt issue means we won't be returning.

Which soup did you have?  I really like their hot and sour soup.  I usually get cashew chicken and there are definitely cashews in it.

We have had some false alarms and SOSE has always called within 5 minutes. We have also found Danny to be very responsive. When we were not at home, we know they came to check things out. Several friends have the SOSE system and have had good service. Like any other service, people will have good and bad experiences. I guess we are lucky.

But one should not have to be "lucky" to get the service they have contracted and paid for.  It's just the right way to do business fairly and honestly, not a lottery.

Dr. Hernández is now with Riberas Medical Group. Clinic phone number is 376-688-1244. His email address is almdnc@hotmail.com.

Riberas Medical Group is what used to be Integrity.  Dra. Lupita Cevallos moved her clinic to the building that was formerly the Lake Medical Group, on the carretera in Riberas just east of the Catholic church and right across the carretera from the Moyoyo car wash, next to Best Lab.  Most of the same specialists who were at the Integrity location near Telmex in Ajijic come there once a week.
