  1. Ferret,

I am only reporting what the man in City Hall told me when he checked on my information.  He drew a picture of the floor plan of the house without the roof and showed the dimensions of the walls which is said is what the builder reports and is the square meters of the house.  Then he showed the same house with the roof on and demonstrated where the extra square meters came from.

  3. This is what was explained to me.  The aerial view taken above your house does not show only the walls (which is how you measure square meters) but also any roof overhang.  So, my extra was to pay for the air space underneath the roof overhang of the wall plus the carport roof.  The picture does not show where the actual wall is underneath the roof overhang, or that there is no house under the carport roof.

Clever way to get more taxes.

  4. I heard from a friend (who has a friend that works in the Recaudadora) Tuesday night that the Recaudadora had received 1500 stickers.

Today, Wednesday I arrived at the recaudadora at 2:15 pm  There were 8 people in line ahead of me--including the three at the windows. When it came to my turn at the window I was in and out in two minutes.  I left at 2:30 pm. with my sticker, etc.  The worst part of the whole process was the drive into and out of Chapala

  5. No, your CURP is not required.  Every year someone reports that it is and starts a mild panic among the newer people. Basically all you need is your licence plate number and your money.  Since I carry my Tarjeta De Circulacion in my wallet I just hand them the one from last year.

If I am doing a favor for friends and neighbors I will also get theirs for them.  After I get mine back from the person at the counter I just hand them a list with the name of the person followed by their license number. They are cranked out, I pay for them and confirm that they are for the correct person before I leave the window.

  6. The bottom line with all of this is that you should not move to Mexico, or any other country because you think it is cheaper.  To be able to spend the rest of your life in another country involves a totally new culture, language, and way of life that you need to adjust to in order to be happy.  Do you have a sense of adventure?  You are wise to look at the cost of medical care in Mexico.  Yes, it is definitely less costly than the US but it is not as cheap as many people think. Health Care costs and housing (rental or buying) are two of the major expenses.  Best wishes.

  7. OK, let me share what I currently pay for insurance.

I wish I could remember what it was in 2003 when I was 60 but suffice it to say the costs have gone up--way up.  When you turn 70 they go up even faster.  The rapid rise in the number of Americans and Canadians moving here in recent years has also lead to a significant increase in all medical costs (and everything else)

I am 76.  The cost of my insurance for 1 year = $116,920.04 with METLIFE.  My deductible = $25,500  and my Copay = 10%

  8. GUADALAJARA AIRPORT TERMINAL TO BE CONSTRUCTED WITH 100% RECYCLED MATERIALS

The initiatives for the environment continue to grow and more and more companies are joining in favor of the planet. Now the Guadalajara International Airport (AIG), will have a new passenger terminal designed to reduce the emission of pollutants into the environment.

The terminal will be built with 100% recycled material. The best thing is that these materials are available in Mexico.

This new construction will boost the regional economy and the building will seek to double the surface of the current terminal. Besides being friendly with our planet.

“The terminals of Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta, since its conception have been designed from a ‘Net Zero’ concept. They will be 100% sustainable, having the least impact on the carbon footprint,” said Laura Diez Barroso, president of the GAP Council.

Guadalajara airport has become the third most important in the country, just behind Mexico City and Cancun.

The new construction will have recovery, treatment and water collection systems. In addition, it is sought that the building is powered by solar energy, either with natural light entry spaces or alternative generation sources.

As for Net Zero; It is an international certification. Its objective is that by the year 2030, all buildings are sustainable and not generating carbon emissions.

The construction of the second terminal is expected to begin in mid-2021.

Hopefully for the next year, large companies will join initiatives like these. Where buildings are 100% sustainable and friendly to the environment.
