"A lot of pedestrians on the bike path!?"  You must be seeing in quadruplicate or more. West of Ajijic you see many more cyclists using the carretera rather than the bike path-usage of the bike path is rare there. ea93105 you have a lot to learn about Mexico. So naive but you will probably get some sense. Bicycling and Mexico only go together in some of the larger cities like Guadalajara.

Cedros, you might want to get out a little more. Ajijic has many bicyclists, both recreational and as a mode of transportation.

I have lived in numerous countries in my time and never encountered this ridiculous problem anywhere.

There were no American expats in these places.

I also have lived in numerous countries, some that I could not have afforded without a corporate package that covered the rent, car, and a cost of living adjustment. I adjusted to the local norms. In some countries there was no tipping—it was considered an insult. In others there was a yearly ‘tip’ in the form of a significant financial gift. In others, the wedding guest needed to contact the venue to ensure that the wedding gift, always money, covered at least the cost of your part of the party.

This is only a fraction of what the real deal dim sum looks like and a lot of it is prepared by steaming. An Edmonton Alberta dim sum.

Betty does a good job with her dim sum meals, but it is not the same I lived in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Sydney and I want carts, and hundreds of diners around me.

  4. It sounds like you need a detailed job description for the gardener. Then document every time that he deviates—late, no show, whatever. Make the job description reasonable and make sure he agrees.

How many hours does the housekeeper work? If she is full time then you may have an employee on your hands. I think Azucena is the best attorney in the area for employee negotiations.

  5. Why look at San Luis Potosi when they are available in Guadalajara?

Why look in Guadalajara when they are available in Ajijic? They are made in a small factory on the west side of the libriemento, not far north of the Laguna Plaza. You need to watch carefully. The only real signage is a board holding a few samples.
