  1. It really looks delicious! And just to whine a bit..... I wish some of these restaurants would try to offer Sin Gluten pastas. If I can find pastas like Barilla at Walmart these restaurants should be able to find it too. I don't want to be Libre de Gluten, it's not a lifestyle choice it's because gluten rips up those of us with Celiac. I don't have it as bad as some but I'd love to eat out at an Italian Restaurants instead of always eating pasta at home, and as is often the case. pay a small premium for the service too. I bet many restaurants would find there are more of us Sin Gluten customers than they realize! Gracias! My whine is over!
  2. Since moving to Mexico I have come to find the free phone app Waze that I used in the States for years is also VERY reliable in Jalisco for accurate turn-by-turn directions 🚙 and includes traffic, cops, hazards as reported live by other users. The new HD Santa Anita is included. That's my suggestion.
  3. Here's the address....Home Depot, V. LOPEZ MATEOS # 7700 COL: SANTA ANITA} Guadalajara, Jalisco CP.45640 Home Depot is about 2.5 km south (before you get to Costco) on the west side of the carretera.
  4. RickS, Kyle could be a genius... if it was potato vodka with his fries!! A great way to get your veggies!!! LOL! 😁 🍸
  5. Thanks for heads up on Panda. We're moving to north of the carretera near Tlachichilco. I'll definitely keep this in mind for internet.
  6. I must be one of the "kids" just qualifying for Medicare today! I'm fascinated by the technology. Just signed up on Starlink.com website to get Beta information if they ever come to MX. Maybe the price will come down from the video, none was listed? I plugged in Chapala and Chapala-Guadalajara, Jal came up. I'll post any updates.
  7. Recently an acquaintance mentioned having a very good experience with AT&T Mexico for their cell service and paying only about $25 month for service. He said coverage is very good throughout Mexico and when he returns home to the States! I've been complacent in the 4 months since we moved to Mexico and stayed with Verizon simply because it works Lakeside... very well actually... using TELCEL towers BUT at $85 USD for or 2 phones with unlimited phone, text and internet service it's kind of pricey. What's you experience with AT&T Mexico? Cost? Reliability? Coverage in MX and NOB? I'd like to have coverage when I visit in the States. How about TELCEL? Cost? Relability? Coverage in MX and NOB? Gracias amigos!!
  8. Sooooo....the end of the story is.... the Chairman came through... great job with our 2 patio chairs and small round patio table. It was ready today, his "manana" after 12 days since the order. I'm sure we'll use him again now that we know what to expect. May try the "bonus" idea mentioned above to speed the process. Mexican time - but the work was top shelf!! 🇲🇽 👍
  9. Gracias, mi amigo. Appreciate the help!
  10. Cedros.... where in SJC which is where we are at?
  11. Thanks. We did find him there this morning around 10:30am and from memory he recited our order....but our small order wasn't ready after 10 days... he told us "Listo manana! ". Can't make this stuff up, LOL! Hope the chairs are ready tomorrow and this is just a crazy way he does business since the patio chairs we saw in colors, other than what we wanted, looked nice and were comfortable to sit in and I'm 2.0 meters tall. Go "Chairman" Go! 🪑 🇲🇽
  12. What I'm really asking is does any one know where the "Chairman" and his wife - Oscar & Estela - who weave chairs on the carretera corner right by Gaudalajara Pharmacy near the "Coffee-Guy" are? We gave him a small deposit for a couple of patio chairs and tables for him to weave about 10 days ago and he disappeared the day after... and I find it hard to believe the $1000 pesos deposit turned him into a criminal on the run. Heck, if he sold two of his chairs he'd make well more than that? Anyone heard any thing? 😜 🇲🇽
  13. I just sent you a PM for information. Thanks.
  14. RickS is correct. We applied for our residency visas at the Mexican Consulado in Kansas City, MO. On our application for residence they requested income and savings (401k, etc). We supplied copies of requested documents and had sufficient funds to select Temporal or Permenente. We chose Temporal so we could bring our vehicle into Mexico and so far it has worked out well. Once you enter Mexico on a Temporal or Permenente Visa you have 30-days to report to INM (Immigration) to complete your residency visa and in our case to extend our vehicle TIP extended to match our Temporal Visa. Some individuals try to take care of this process on their own as a learning experience and challenge, we did not. We enlisted the help of a local immigration attorney - for about $200 each - and it was easy peasy and done right the first time with no extra INM visits or needed documents. Buena suerte! 🌵 🚙 🇲🇽
  15. Thanks All! We went to the carpenter (Meubleria Las Sauses) next to Mom's which we didn't know was there either (no signs??) and they were very helpful and will deliver to our new place. My wife ordered the frame height she wanted! Perfecto.
  16. My wife and I entered Mexico on August 3, 2020, via Laredo Colombia Solidarity International Bridge. No hay problema! We were the only gringos in line getting our TIP and at Immigration. It was very lightly traveled the day we came south. We entered with Residencia Temporal Visas specifically because we wanted to bring our car into Mexico. We took the Toll-Roads the entire way into the Lake Chapala area and overnighted at the Midway Las Palmas Hotel in Matehuala, San Luis Pitossi. Real nice, very affordable place with a restaurant. No issues at all on our drive. Tolls totaled about $80 USD (paid in MX pesos of course). 🇲🇽 🚙 🌵
  17. Amigos, we purchased a couple of King & Queen mattresses (in a box) at Costco and need to find some nice Wooden Bed Frames (Mexican size) and have them delivered. Do we need to find a local carpenter? Any recommendations, por favor? 🇲🇽 💰
  18. Ferret, we'll give that a start. We didn't know bazaars carried furnishings, and good to hear about IB furniture, we just noticed them yesterday next to Sunrise. As RickS said, maybe the ranchito-style we had in mind will become more about color than style!! LOL!! 😁
  19. We'd like to furnish a 2-brdm/2 bath home with traditional or ranchito-style furniture, comfortable of course. Short of obvious lakeside furniture stores in town or GDL, any suggestions for finding locally made furniture on the lake and even gently used furniture and household items? Where did you find the furniture and household items you have and like? Muchas gracias! 🇲🇽 💰
  20. Where is this "new" bank located. I remember the Sept posting said there would be two banks in Axixic area?
  21. My wife 👩 is trying to find a nice Hair Salon and Stylist in Lakeside or Guadalajara that does a consistently good job with women's Cut & Color. She has real nice past the shoulder-length- hair. Any suggestions and recommendations would be greatly appreciated by her loving husband. Gracias amigos!
  22. We went to San Juan Cosala Tianguis just this past Tuesday. It was fairly well attended, not many gringos, but we live here and wanted to visit. I am not embellishing when I say, the masks we saw two months ago on most locals when we arrived Lakeside are ALL gone! Not a single vendor or local shopper had a mask! Only a couple gringo mask-wearers like us. Terrible that numbers are starting to spike again and I fear a total lockdown is on the Governor's plate.
  23. Is that with IMSS or did you pay personally?
  24. Lakeside7 thanks for the additional details. First off, I highly endorse Spencer's comment to avoid signing any promissory agreement with SAH or other medical provider if they are so certain your Medigap or Advantage Plan will pay for services and is a legitimate insurance claim. That still won't exempt you from an Insurer or Medicare coming after you for filing a fraudulent claim. Specifically on your comment above, that owning a home in the US and Mexico should not exempt you from Medicare...and it does NOT, however it does prohibit emergency Medicare treatment (see above directly from Medicare.gov) unless emergency treatment begins during the first 60 days of your trip, a trip with a date that began in the US, not Mexico or another international location. How do we know? Because Medicare and Medicare Advantage Plans are NOT available outside of the US with very few exceptions. Regarding SAH Lakeside Medicare Advantage Plan presentation, good to hear you thought the sales rep Jeff didn't make any false claims, however just google Medigap and Medicare Advantage Plans and skim though some of the broker ads who want to sell you a policy and nowhere will you find ANY insurer offering any service or treatment that is not emergency and medically necessary, while travelling, all with a 60-day travel window from the US. That's why some of us with knowledge of Medicare are confounded by these claims of service here Lakeside. Who is the insurer Medicare Advantage Plan being promoted by that sales rep?
