  1. Hola gente, anyone have a Warren Hardy Level 1 Power Verbs Workbook available? Iโ€™m not as concerned with the audio if you donโ€™t have it. Please PM me. Saludos from Chapala, Jubilacion

  3. Gracias Ferret for the link. I looks like we don't need to do anything since the CURP that displays on our newer Residente cards is the number they will always want.
  4. Okay, I'll expose my lack of understanding.... what is a CURP form and what is it used for? I know we have a CURP number on our Residente cards, but I don't have any idea what a CURP is? ๐Ÿคช
  5. ThomasHellyer, the screen-grab photo almost brought a tear to my eye! ๐Ÿฅฒ We live east of Vista del Lago and I've been kicking around the expense of Starlink. Why? My current TelMex - which can not be any faster - is ONLY 1.6 Mbps! True! 1.6 Mbps on average. TelMex technician came out couple weeks back and told us, "Debe pedir TelCel." (You should order TelCel).
  6. ๐Ÿฆ‹ ๐Ÿฆ‹ Before this season is over in a month we'd like to make a trip to see the Mariposas Monarca. I know Charter Tours is offering a trip but we want to go on our own schedule with some friends. ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿฆ‹ Any help and suggestions appreciated on the drive ๐Ÿš™ or trip itself! What sanctuaries do you like? Suggestions on any hotels or town recommendations to stay at the night prior?
  7. I've used Express VPN for about 20 months down here and where ever we travel. It's not the least expensive but their service has been top notch and VPN reliability is better than others I've used. ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ
  8. I agree with barrbower, I'd investigate for errors first. Our electric bill is only about $240 MX every two months but have seen mention of ๐ŸŒž Solar Water Heaters on this site before. I admit I don't know much about them. Are they efficient and affordable? Are they practical for two adults to use as a way to get your propane consumption/cost down?
  9. We live east of Vista del Lago in Tlachichilco with good water quality and have a 2-stage filter system for silt, sand, etc. I just replaced these filters after our first year renting (landlord is traveling and not available) and I was told I could get these 20" inch water filters "almost anywhere". So I did.... and now our water tastes like it's fresh from a garden hose!! I'm in the doghouse with my beautiful bride. As in the movie Indiana Jones and the Lost Crusade, the bad guy selecting the wrong holy grail chalice and the knight templar says, "He chose..... poorly", and so did I. Can anyone recommend a good Lakeside store for drinking water filters? Mil gracias!
  10. Mi esposa remembers someone offering small group winery tours last year - via boat ride across the lake from Ajijic or Chapala - to visit one or two wineries. She thinks Finca La Estramancia in San Luis Soyatlan and perhaps Vinedo el Tejon. Does anyone know if this still exists in 2022? We'd like to get some friends together and give it a go! Muchas gracias! ๐Ÿท ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ ๐Ÿท ๐Ÿšฃโ€โ™€๏ธ
  11. Good idea with Betty, Iโ€™ve heard she does live close by. Thanks.
  12. We live east of Chapala (and past Vista del Lago) in Tlachichilco. TelMex is our current internet provider and we've had enough. It was only "okay" in the past but over the past couple months service sucks (that's a technical term, lol). Recent TelMex speed tests using their own online program identify our download speed at 1.6 Mbps (they advertise 20 Mbps) and Upload 0.2 Mbps!! That is not a lie, I took pictures and brought them to TelMex. After a few visits to TelMex Ajijic finally a tech came out and said that was the average for the area and maybe try TelCel. I've heard it works out this way so might be the only answer for now. Totalplay is not out this far, Spyder doesn't work out here and not sure I want to give Elon Musk $110 USD/mo. for Starlink. If we're forced into TelCel what office would you recommend? I've heard Ana's name mentioned before but lately more poor than good comments. Feliz Ano Nuevo!
  13. If you're going to use Laredo just over a year ago we used the Laredoโ€“Colombia Solidarity International Bridge (about 15 mins north of Laredo) based on forums we had been following. It was crazy easy and there was no issue when we entered @ 08:30am. Did our INM, got our TIP and over-nighted in Matehuala at the Midway Las Palmas. Really enjoyed the place with a good restaurant...and felt safe. Per www.waittimesnow.com, into and out of Laredo on the Columbia-Solidarity are always quite a bit less than Laredo II Bridge. And a funny note 180 degrees opposite than Southland inspection experience. As we entered into MX with all our possessions in marked bins and suitcases packed like "Tetris". The agent asked me to open the hatch on our Nissan and said, "Do you have any beer or alcohol?" I'm not exactly sure what possesd me but I replied to him on that sunny warm morning in my best Spanglish, "No senor, but if you have a cerveza frio, me gustaria uno!" He just laughed and said we could go... that was a 3 minute inspection. You just never know. LOL!! ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ
  14. You're right about not knowing who people are behind their masks? Are they the Covid zealots who think anyone without a jab and a booster - just like they have - is careless and insane and should be punished..... Or do you mean the Conspiracy zealots who think that Covid is all a world order power play and don't understand why others don't see it? It's hard to tell until either zealot opens their mouth.
  15. That amount sounds right to me based on current high prices for propane. It might be a little more than you need but you don't want the tank to run low...below 15-20%. Ask them for $1000 pesos and check the tank gauge to see the volume, they'll always be glad to add more.
  16. And.... Wise.com has an easy to use Mobile App and their rates are very good...maybe not the best but I'll take reliable for moving my money! USD ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ into MXN ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ is muy bueno por mi!
  17. You'll be fine any day of the week if you're there within half hour of opening. Otherwise I agree with the others, line times will run 45+ minutes if you show up later.
  18. Poor english on my part... we also use our Schwab debit card all over Mexico and internationally...love it . I should have written that we use Charles Schwab, a US bank and financial institution in the US.... would have made more sence.
  19. Yes, the NET would be $21.58 which is accurate but I think you're mincing words to say the 21.7890 rate was inaccurate. Since that rate was the basis of the transfer it is also accurate. The Visa Exchange rate sounds about right though my net purchase rate was still a bit better and those pesos are now in my account. We did purchase on our Capital One credit card during that time at Walmart and since Capital One charges no International Transaction Fee our purchase rate was very close to the actual mid-market rate that day. However, if someone had wanted cash at an ATM they would likely have ATM and VAT fees to deal with (and be limited in the amount they could withdraw) which of course would lower the NET Visa exchange rate further below the 21.5462 quoted. Donโ€™t you think? I know there are some cards and banks that waive those fees (we use Charles Schwab in the States who credit back those fees) but from comments on this and other boards many seem to have no real solution for these charges. Interesting discussion....thanks!
  20. rckrckr is correct all around. The speed of transfer and ease of their website and phone app are why I chose themโ€ฆ and reviews are excellent. The numbers I reported are right off Wise.com summary details of my transfer ๐Ÿ’ต๐Ÿ’ฒ
  21. I should have better said Wise.com TRANSFER FEE (not transfer rate) was $23.84 USD for transferring/converting $2,500 USD ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ into $53,950.87 ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ Nov 26, as the USD$ was rising to the MXN$ peso I chose to convert $2,500 USD ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ into MXN ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ pesos. Wise.com quoted mid-market rate $1.00 USD = 21.7890 MXN and gave me that EXACT MID-MARKET RATE less their fees of $23.94. My $2,500 USD - less $23.94 USD fees = $2,476.06 USD ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ @ $21.7890 MXN ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ = $53,950.87 MXN ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ was deposited into O'Rourke's account. That was less expensive (saved over $56 USD/$1,220 MXN net) compared to the transfer fee/rate offered by O'Rourke on that day.
  22. The transfer rate from Wise.com was $23.84 for $2,500 USD ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ into MX ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝpesos, and the transfer confirmation took less than 3 hours. Much better than the rate offered by Oโ€™Rourke.
  23. If you mean moving dollars to pesos ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ I've had good success with Wise.com. Just used them twice during the pesos run-up on the $USD moving money from one of our US banks to O'Rourke in Axixic at very favorable rates (much better conversion rate than banks).
  24. Nope, its on Calle Juarez, just drove by it last night. We were heading up (north) Juarez when we passed it on the right side of the street, Colon is a southbound street. Looks like we'll have to stop by next visit into Ajijic downtown.
  25. Thanks Bisbee Gal, that menu does look a bit pricey. I'm sure of the location though. We were parked on Calle Colon, above Tango Ajijic, at the Plaza. Going home turned west on Calle Hildalgo and right (north) on Calle Juarez when we passed El Charro. Its on Juarez between Hildago and Zaragozza. Do you think that menu is the same restaurant? Gracias!
