I think you need to check your numbers and edit your post.  On 4/18 NY alone had more than 4000 new cases.

Remember that testing is ramping up by the day, this means that all cases reported as new should be viewed as newly discovered OR newly infected.

Mexico is still way down the list in the world.

In New York, statistics ONLY cover those people who have been hospitalized.

The current head of the US government (shall be unnamed here) has put forth multiple infrastructure plans only to be rejected by both parties because of cost. They STILL have a democracy up there. As MC has pointed out they have one of the best and most modern (you can quibble on the ranking) systems in the world. The reason we are even discussing this is that someone here brought up this subject compared to Mexico. Have you driven in Mexico City or even Guadalajara lately? Even Ajijic or Chapala! How about Pemex pipelines exploding, killing multiple people and destroying neighborhoods...on and on.  Quote: ". . In parts of the US, it's like a developing nation."...Give me a break!!!

I stand by "In parts of the US, it's like a developing nation." There is no running water nor electricity on much of the Navajo Nation. There is no running water or electricity in most of the colonias in Tejas and Nuevo Mexico. Rural hospitals across the USA have closed because of the "for profit" insurance system. Women are denied basic health care in many parts of the USA . . . need I continue? Because I have MANY more facts.

So, I'll put up with the infrastructure in Mexico 'cause the USA is circling the drain.

Pleease....Both the US and Canada have the best infrastructure in the world (I would say multiple times that of Mexico) and as far as I know there was no "contribution(s)" from the oil industries except normal taxation.

The US does NOT have the best infrastructure in the world. Bridges are collapsing, highways are in abysmal shape, no running water in many rural areas, no electricity in rural places, and on, and on, and on . . . In parts of the US, it's like a developing nation. Been there, done that!

.... will you answer whether or not:

    1) you filed taxes either in 2018 or 2019 AND received a refund credited to a bank account

    2) you filed taxes either in 2018 or 2019 AND had to pay owed taxes (no refund)

    3) you filed taxes either in 2018 or 2019 using Turbo Tax or H&R Block  AND had to pay owed taxes (no refund)

    4) you filed taxes either in 2018 or 2019, had to pay owed taxes, AND you also get monthly SS deposited into a bank account AND the stimulus got deposited into the account where your SS payments are deposited

    TIA

My social security check is wired to my Mexican bank account. I filed my 2019 taxes with the IRS and my refund was wired to my US bank. My stimulus check was wired to my US bank, so go figure! Anyway, that's how it worked for me. Buenas suerte!

I was told by a friend who works in consulate in Mexico City, it will be put in your bank account where social security goes, otherwise mailed..

My check didn't come to my Mexican bank account where my Social Security goes. It went to my bank in the US where I'm listed with the IRS. Go figure -- I got it so I'm not complaining.

I doubt that whomever put up the tape will remove it after the weekend, at which point there will almost zero chance of encountering anyone else on the trail. I myself still plan on hiking the trail simply because ample distancing is easily achieved. If someone is coming in the other direction just give them plenty of space.

Please stay home! The Jalisco government is asking all residents/tourists to PLEASE stay home.

I just received a photo showing the police / authorities yellow taping a path up the mountains...is this perhaps a plan to forestall some of the Easter festivities...? As I have been thrown off the malecon three times this week and then the soccer field  ( west Ajijic  ) this morning , My usual routine is the mountains once or twice a week...the malecon and the soccer field   the remaining days (with my dog ) ....does anyone have any info on the possible mountain closures ...

The hysteria is spreading here.  Iteso University has shut down and there are runs in progress on Costco.

This is so damn stupid and overblown.

Seems as though some folks have changed their stories and now have jumped on the Coronavirus bandwagon. Hmmm . . . Stopped watching FOX (fascist, obnoxious xenophobes) News?

Smoked salmon is FOOD that is high in valuable nutrients, vitamins and protein.  It keeps well and I can freeze it, too..  Food shopping is a NEED not a want.

FYI -- some salmon coming from Alaska is showing up with radiation in Indigenous communities there. One kid used a geiger counter on fish their family caught and the geiger counter was clicking away. Radiation started showing up a couple of years ago there -- a left over result of the nuclear disaster in Japan. So one might want to eat Atlantic salmon . . .

And then you have..... Yesterday morning my wife and I had to pick some one up in Chapala around 4:30. Going up the hill from Ixtlahuacan we passed a cow standing on the side of the road. Coming back the same cow had decided to cross back to the upper downhill side. Luckily I had room to swerve and miss her. You never know what you might meet on the roads here. They're out to get ya!

There were five dead cows in that stretch during a one month period last year. One day last week there were three cows grazing on the side of the highway in the same area (they also like to graze in the median) -- cows are out day and night so watch out!

It seems only months ago that people were sing the the virtues of Opidos....and now we realize the terrible  consequences of that must have drug

I was prescribed opioids (30 years ago) and had to be "weaned" from that poison by a professional. In the US I lived in a state where medical marijuana was an option. I have used medical grade CBD off and on for four years and it's amazing. I took it in the morning and could work all day and function without feeling high. It helps people with chronic pain, anxiety and much more. Big Pharma products scare me much more than products derived from marijuana -- been there, done that!

  12. Apachewoman, I used a pot of boiling water on the cutter ants in my garden and that seemed to work. I waited until late in the afternoon when they were back in their hole. I poured the boiling water in the hole and the next morning there was a pile of dead ants -- it must've been a deep hole because the whole pot of water went in there.  That was about two weeks ago and I haven't seen any cutter ants since. Buenas suerte!
