  1. We were there this morning. He is open. To Lakeside 7, he told us it is very hard for him to secure good help these days. He only has one other employee to help him.
  2. We have made two or more claims on our house insurance since living here over the past 12 years, and the annual policy cost which is around 5,000 pesos is well worth it. We had several claims for broken windows in sliding glass doors, and we had a fire in our kitchen once. I would highly recommend having home insurance. Our agent is Teresa at O'Rourke Investments in Centro Laguna, right on the Carretera, across from Walmart. She has been our agent from the beginning.
  3. Do they come further east than Joco? I hope you post further as to it's reliability. Have they given you a time-frame as to when it will be installed?
  4. Wish I had known sooner. We were just there last week. By the way, it's Tonala, with an accent on the last "a". Good luck in your search.
  5. I thought that Cat Scans came with a letter from the Radiologist of the place where it was done, and then a GP just elaborates on the Radiologist's comments? That has happened in my case.
  6. It has paid off for us. We had a house in the Raquet Club and had a few instances of broken glass in sliding glass doors, one of them very large. We found the claim process easy. Better to be safe than sorry. We use Teresa Pineda at O'Rourke in Centra Laguna on the Carretera.
  7. Can't help you there, but just to let you know there is a Urologist who comes to Dr. Leon's office every second Thursday. His name is Dr. Roberto Martinez de Pinillos. You can call Dr. Leon's office at 376-766-5633 if you are interested.
  8. Have had this guy do work for me and always pleased.
  9. I need some cancer medication that is available in Mexico but quite expensive. I can order the same drug online and have it shipped to Canada. The cost for a year's supply is what one month's supply would cost in Mexico. I was thinking of having it shipped to my sister in Canada and then flying up there and bringing it back. It would still save quite a bit of money. However, my main concern is what will happen when I go through Mexican customs on my return and they discover a year's supply of the drug. Has anyone ever tried this before?
  10. We have had good experience with Intercam Banco. See Alejandra.
  11. We found a place along the carretera towards Chapala before Little Chapel on the Lake, on the lakeside. It is just a lot with a pile of these red stones, plus some other construction material. Not sure if they deliver or not. We did not need too many so were able to bring them back in a large bag.
  12. I have a friend who needs some heavy-duty garden work done and needs to rent a roto tiller. Does anyone know if there is a shop around lakeside where you can rent. Thanks.
  13. How many times does it take for you to get the spelling right?
  14. The only thing I believe that most of us have heard is that there is a State project underway where they are to build and new cycle path, plus resurface the entire highway between Chapala and Jocotepec this year. Have not seen much in Guadalareporter, except an article in last week's edition whereby the main reporter spoke to someone from the state who happened to be in Chapala, and he told her nothing other than to contact the state road people in Guadalajara.
  15. I saw this yesterday and it seemed very strange to me. Had never seen that screen before, so decided not to use the ATM. Thanks for the clarification. Next time, I will decline the option.
  16. I think you mean Madero (i.e. Francisco Madero) in Chapala.
  17. Just noticed when I checked my Bancomer account, that this month's charge for Ilox is 629 pesos, and when I signed up it was 599 pesos. Anyone else notice an increase. If it has gone up, would have been nice of them to give advance notice, but I am sure that is asking too much.
  18. In case you have not heard, colour copies are considered illegal, at least in Jalisco.
  19. Thank you. We will take a look tomorrow. Now we know it is on same side as Soriana, but before
  20. I wonder if you could be a little more specific as to the exact location on the highway out of Chapala past Soriana. I am assuming he is on the lake side. Is there any sign for this place. I have called both numbers mentioned above; the cell number does not ring and the other number does not seem to be the one for Luis. Or when you say "the one on the lateral past Soriana" do you mean the lateral road which would be going from Soriana into the town of Chapala, or the other way? We looked going on the highway towards the bypass to Ajijic, but could not see any place that looked like an auto repair shop, i.e. no signage. Would appreciate any further comments or please call me at 331-382-4771. Thanks.
  21. There is a store on Ocampo in Ajijic that sells HP printer cartridges. It is about two blocks west of Colon and Ocampo on the lake side (close to Mannix Restaurant).
  22. Gas appears to have just gone up. I see the highest price is 21.89 for red. The Pemex in Chapala just before Soriana is 21.20 today. We often use the one in west Ajijic, further west of the BP station. The last time we were there was on 22 November, and the price was 20.90 pesos. So there are two options for you.
