If I’m not mistaken about a year or so ago the Gadget Guy posted on here or maybe it was FB  about a guy called Rich who purchased a Firestick from him, he commented about how he was watching him install it, and asking questions, he even called him at home with questions, then a few weeks later he is on FB selling Firesticks and installing them.. The Gadget Guy was pissed…

Is this the same Rich Natasha is promoting, ?  Maybe he doesn’t want to use the Ethernet connection because the Gadget Guy didn’t explain how to connect it to him.. Firesticks do not have an Ethernet port so you have to know how to connect the Ethernet cable..

No  CG recommended using him. Now who is spreading untruth ?

  2. Hola

Has anyone had a fiberglass swimming pool installed? I have searched here, Google and can't find any reviews from people having them installed here at Lakeside.

I know about the water table issue. This will not be an issue for me as I am away from the lake and on a high hill.

I want fiberglass because of the less maintenance costs.

Anyone know who does installs or people that have them that wouldn't mind me contacting them.

    TIA

    Omg!!!!

I posted this to help people. I really don't understand what you are so pissed off about. I can not climb ladders, I'm not rich and this helps not having to have 2 services like many do. I hired a Mexican friend to install this and paid him well as I do with with all the work I have him do.

I said what I said as not to insinuate that people should do as me.

Take some midol and talk to us after your period is over.

    No offense to the ladies

  4. I've posted this before and I really don't understand why people don't go this route.

I live in San Nicolas where there is no internet service. Telmex does not have anything to my development and Telmex told their service in San Nicolas is not good.

I had Tecel for my phone but it only was 3g with about 2-5 mb download so it was to slow for almost anything. I did a lot of research online and talking with others in the business.

I bought a Panda Networks cellular signal booster for $250 US. It's for Telcel 3g &4g.  There is an exterior antenna and interior antenna all the cable and the booster.  I mounted the exterior antenna on a 10 pole on top of my roof. Ran the cable down and through my exterior wall to the signal booster. The wired the interior antenna on the wall in my living room.

The results are that I went from 3g 2-5mb to 4G 80MB download. Telcels plan unlimited no throttle till 100GB $399.

  5. So you assume that all expats don't hire locals ? You know local Mexican who has lost his business because of the statement you made. Well A is not a good measure of people loosing their job, although one is to many, so you can of course state what you want but a good argument would show more than one (A)

Please support a local Mexican business they are struggling to survive in these difficult times.. Expat businesses don’t need your support to survive..

You are always assuming that Expats don't need help.  How about their employees that have families. I'll bet that their employees are Mexican. OH wait, they work for gringos so don't worry about them ? When gringos go broke their employees will be fine ?

  7. I haven't seen anything about this when searching so I will ask.

I'm sure it probably still can't be done but wonder if the MX Govt is allowing people to renew their TR visas from abroad because of the Covid situation. I know I'm reaching and dreaming.

I wanted to drive down from Canada , I have 2 dogs and we all know we can't cross the Can/US border. I know I can fly but don't really want to rent a car for 4-5 months. Looked at trying to get a dual citizen to take my car into the USA but that would be breaking the rules and all the many other problems that would bring.

Congrats and thanks for sharing detailed info.

    Your welcome Bisbee Gal.

I was tired of getting jumped on by the few jerks on this board that think they know it all. They should spend some time researching instead of being keyboard warriors insulting and being rude to others. It's so easy to be an asshole when you hide behind a keyboard.

  9. I emailed SAT/Aduana a week ago and they came back say YES you can cancel a TIP from abroad. The lady laid it out on how to do it. Step by step and it's very easy. I have attached a copy of the for you fill out. Then you send the form with the TIP including hologram, copy of passport, letter of extension of TIP, 1st year temp visa. Now there a 7 different categories that you can cancel a TIP under. In my case it is Vendido.  Also she explained I will get my deposit back as long as it's before my TIP expiry date. 463710918_TIPAnnex7.thumb.jpg.6ce8367c0f0afb158779cc44c26016b2.jpg

For the doom and gloom guys you maybe might want to brush up on your knowledge.

  10. I also did research and the comments about this body shop were excellent.

If you read my post correctly I said that the body work was great. Not so great was there response to the accident that happened.

"I took my car to Mauricio’s Auto Body shop @ Hidalgo 79-81, Riberas del Pilar on March 9th."

Didn't have a problem because they don't stipulate that you can not use a companies name.

You are an absolute bonehead. As usual you assume that you are the smartest.

First, in this forums board the posting rules state that you can not post a companies name or address.

    Per request:

    1. Do not question or attack moderation on a public thread. Complaints about moderation should go to the moderator in question or to Admin Chapala.

    2. If you have a negative experience with a local business or professional, do not post the name of same directly but advise readers to PM you for that information.

  12. Auto Body Shop warning

I took a while to post this warning as I needed time once back in Canada to get everything accessed.  I will also make this a short as possible.
I took my car to  an Auto Body shop @ Hidalgo , Riberas del Pilar on March 9th. On the morning of March 10th I got a phone call from them saying that they set the right rear section of the car on fire. xxxxx drove to my home and picked me up to go to their shop to inspect the damage.
The damage was incredible. The area where the fire was is the rear aircon unit and a main wiring harness. The interior cowlings were melted, wires melted together.
xxxxxx and I discussed how it happened and agreed when they were grinding the car fender sparks went through the small hole they had drilled in the body. These holes were for pulling out a dent. He said they smelt something strange but did not check. When the smell got stronger, they finally opened the back of the car and saw that the right side was on fire.
    OK, accidents happen.
At this point he made a comment that we could split the cost of the repair to which I did not answer. He stated it would cost about $70,000.00 pesos to fix and if we split the cost, he could get the parts ordered. I said no way was I paying half as my car was in their trust. I had phoned my insurance company to come and inspect the damage as a way of getting something officially on paper. The insurance company would not pay for the damage, which I assumed they would not as it happened in the Auto Body shop. Again, I told xxxxxx that he is responsible for the damage and he agreed and said he would fix everything. Again, this was March 10th.
On March 12th he told me the parts were not in Mexico but in San Diego and would need to be shipped. He said he orders from a parts dealer in Guadalajara. He said they were ordered. I then asked him that he had also ordered a new wiring harness. Yes, he had ordered one.
I kept talking with him in the days and weeks ahead about the arrival of the parts and he would just say they haven’t arrived yet. Then at the beginning of April he told me that in fact the parts were not ordered and due to the Covid19 situation Guadalajara was closed and he could not order the parts.
To make this short, yes the story would be even longer, it took a threat from me of going to see the Presidente of Chapala with all my evidence to get this settled. This was on April 29th.  The next day he told me that actually yes, the parts store in Quad was open and he was there ordering the parts and they would be here in a week. Interesting how it suddenly opened. I still had to order the cowlings in Canada. xxxxxx did give me the pesos to pay for the cowlings.
While all this was going on my employer in Canada told me I needed to be back for work by April 30th or I would lose my casual status and job. I also had told xxxxxx this many times.  I lost my job.
I did not get to leave Lakeside till May 12th. When I got back to Canada I was having electrical problems and when the mechanics ( 3 ) saw what they had done with the wiring they all said I need to get rid of the car as ALL the wires had been crimped together and was very dangerous as well the continued problems there would be. So far the repairs here in Canada have cost me $1000.00 and I am not finished.
So please be aware and make your own decision about this auto body shop. I will say the dent repair was good and shit happens but honesty and integrity should be of value and this company tried to out wait me. I should of never had to threaten to have to get the Presidente involved. Once I did it was amazing how all of a sudden things were open.

The last 2 pictures are of what they told me were a new wiring harness.

You can cancel your TIP at the Chicago, and certain others, consulate.  Contact them for the SPECIFIC DATES that they will cancel permits.  You will have to get the car to the consulate.

As usual RV you are wrong. The subject of cancelling a TIP, other than at the border, has been covered before, it can be done by mail. A good lawyer or your local Mexican Consulate can help.

RV, a registered non resident of Canada can drive a Mexican plated car in Canada for up to 6 months, just as any other tourist can. I am tired of seeing your comments on Canadian law.

Thank you for that dave.  I agree with you and he is rude and condescending as well.   When I posted earlier this year he was screaming that there was no way I could use a TIP I got in Canada and then applying for my Temp Res. He said I should of only got one at the border and I was doomed to fail.   Spencer's office said there was no problem with getting the TIP in Canada and got my TIP linked to my visa.

Please stop asking for opinions here and do yourself a big favor and speak with a lawyer. It appears to me the suggestions here of driving the old car back down here will be both dangerous and expensive. Putting the new car and another's name will not help if you wish a second car in the future. Get advise from someone who knows, not someone who thinks or supposes the correct way to fix your problem.

Gracias for your comment.  I have sent a letter to a lawyer. The reason I posted this is to see if anyone else has gone through this.

Don’t  listen to anyone who tells you “I’ve pmd you”  with suggestions or offers of help. Some how you have to return the vehicle to Mexico to get the TIP off you’re record.. that is the best way.. Hiring a lawyer to do it can be done but it will be nightmare, expensive and takes a long time to accomplish and you still won’t be allowed to bring another vehicle in until you’re old TIP is resolved.  You will also need Use  a lawyer in Canada, the vehicle will need to have a written appraisal stating that vehicle is no longer drivable,  the appraisal will need to notarized and translated into Spanish,  then you use a lawyer here in Mexico to present you’re case to the relevant authority here..

Or do as others have suggested put the new vehicle in you’re partners name if you have one that is...

I for one would like to know the name of the body shop that caused the damage to you’re vehicle.

    The person that pmd me is a friend so you start off wrong.  Thanks for your opinion though. I do appreciate them all   :<{}
