  1. How do I change my home address with the Recaudadora (place where I pay the annual car registration/tarjeta de circulación)? Is there a web site for this or do I need to visit the Recaudadora in-person? What documents are needed? Thanks.
  2. What time did you arrive there last Thu? Today 12:15pm, the line was out the door, on to the street, maybe 20 folks in line on the street.
  3. From https://mx.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/covid-19-information/ : "Effective January 26, all airline passengers to the United States ages two years and older must provide a negative COVID-19 viral test taken within three calendar days of travel. Alternatively, travelers to the U.S. may provide documentation from a licensed health care provider of having recovered from COVID-19 in the 90 days preceding travel. ... It applies to U.S. citizens, as well as foreign nationals, regardless of vaccination status." It is repeated again on the same webpage: "A negative viral COVID test or documentation of recovery is required for anyone traveling by air to the United States, including U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents age two and over, and regardless of vaccination status." This appears to undermine confidence in the vaccine. And what happened to having a vaccine passport?
  4. Thank you. I will request a tourist pass.
  5. I’m visiting Mexico City for a week and considering driving to and in Mexico City. Given that I’ve heard about the bad traffic (and possibly restrictions on certain days), would you recommend driving in the city, especially in the Centro/downtown area? Am I permitted to drive a Jalisco plated car every day or are there any restrictions? Considering driving because I want to avoid public transit (Metro/buses) in Mexico City due to the pandemic, but will consider flying there and taking taxis/Uber if driving my own car is not advisable. Thanks.
  6. From home, I dial *86 to check my Telmex voicemail. Does Telmex have a number I can dial from outside Mexico to do the same? Thanks.
  7. Tape a note asking the mailman, trash guys, etc. to ring your doorbell. And make sure its not the little creep ringing your doorbell...
  8. Yesterday I tried all 3 suggestions at the same time (resetting the modem, VPN, and a different browser). I was able to access Yahoo and Gmail, but unsure which of the 3 fixed the issue. Had the same issue today and first thing I tried was VPN and that fixed it. Perhaps try VPN?
  9. Thanks. I'll try resetting the modem, VPN, and a different browser and see if one or all options help.
  10. Anyone having internet issues with just specific websites since last evening? I can access NY Times, this web board, etc. without issues, but Google Translate, Yahoo, etc. are extremely slow. I checked my internet speed and its showing usual speed for my home, 28-30 mbps download, so appears my internet service is okay.
  11. Another possibility is Scott D. inadvertently entered 11,000 when doing his withdrawal. That would come to about $700-710 Canadian.
  12. Thanks. I will try Farmacia Maskaras and Farmacia Similares. I'm taking 100mg Aspirin b/c my Dr. said the benefits outweigh the risks. YMMV.
  13. Checked 3 times at Walmart and they were out of 100mg Aspirin and Farmacias Guadalajara said they don't have it. Which other pharmacies carry 100mg Aspirin?
  14. Willie, did you setup an appointment or just showed up at 7am? How many people were in line for the test? And if you have a chance, please let us know if the results arrive on time this Wed. Thanks.
  15. Requirements vary by destination. My destination requires a negative PCR result within 72 hrs of boarding initial segment of the flight (note: results within 72 hrs, not the test within 72 hrs). So if flight leaves on Thu, one could get the test Thu or Fri before. Add 3 days for results (several labs said Sat is a business day), so results hopefully will be ready on Mon or Tue, within the 72 hour window for the Thu departure.
  16. Thanks. I guess the phone rep was misinformed.
  17. Laboratorio Clinico El Lago quoted 4000 pesos about a week ago, 3-days for results, or 5000 pesos for 24-hour results. At these prices, wondering if many locals can afford the test and how many show up for the come one come all format at 7:00 in the morning at Laboratorio Clinico El Lago.
  18. I booked a flight, all on one ticket on AeroMexico, departing Guadalajara, then catching an international flight in Mexico City. I had to call to make the reservation, since I had an “open ticket.” The phone rep informed me I had to collect my checked baggage in Mexico City, then re-check the baggage again in Mexico City for the international segment of my flight. 1. Has this occurred to anyone? I thought all airlines transfer checked baggage to subsequent segments of a flight, if all segments are on the same ticket. 2. Do I go through immigration in Guadalajara or Mexico City (submit paperwork for temporal visa holders, etc.)?
  19. Was everyone (staff and patients) wearing a mask at Chapala's Centro de Salud? And anyone know if the flu vaccine offered here is the quadrivalent or the trivalent formulation? normal year I’d take either, but during a pandemic, would prefer optimal coverage.
  20. Are you saying that in jest or is it actually available? I’m aware PCR at-home test kits are available in some countries. A few months ago, the U.S. FDA ‘emergency’ approved one from LabCorp (https://www.pixel.labcorp.com/at-home-test-kits/covid-19-test), but I think they subsequently pulled the emergency approval. To which lab would one send the nasal swab sample for results?
  21. I’m required to have negative results from a COVID-19 PCR test for my upcoming flight. Specifically, the RESULTS need to within 72-hours of my flight. 1. What’s been your experience with getting the PCR test at these labs: Salud Digna (preferred due to lower price) and Chopo in Guadalajara, and locally at Laboratorio Clinico El Lago in Chapala? (The Guadalajara Reporter mentioned Laboratorio Clinico El Lago in Chapala offers the test locally.) 2. Any other labs besides Laboratorio Clinico El Lago that offers the test locally? 3. How many days prior do you recommend I get the test, so that the results are within 72-hours of my flight and did you experience any delays getting the results on time? 4. Did the lab email the results to you? If I drive to Salud Digna or Chopo in Guad for the test, I’d prefer not to do a second trip just to pick-up the results.
  22. Does Magnolias have a regular menu or just a daily special?
  23. Thanks for the info and correct name: Cugini's. The Ajijic "dollar" store is the one on the Plaza, a few doors from BBVA Bancomer and Farmacia Homeopatica, correct?
  24. Where can I buy ladies scarves with a Mexican design/motif? And is it correct that Eugini's Boutique (about a block up from Maria Isabel's restaurant on Ajijic malecon) is permanently closed? Thanks.
  25. Thanks. I will reach out to Chapala Tree Service. I have a guy who trims my palm trees and he offered to treat the trees, if I could figure out what insecticide to use. I'm guessing Chapala Tree Service's treatment is proprietary and not something I can buy at a store?
