  1. I subscribe to the notion that one should drive according to road conditions no matter what the signs say. The speed of other driver's is a road condition. This I learned from the California Highway Patrol officer who pulled me over many years ago and gave me a warning for driving the speed limit in heavy, fast moving traffic.
  2. A word of caution about reading the phrase. The purpose is to scan your retinas for another layer of security for when you access the SAT site. You MUST be looking at the screen while reading, so it can track your eyes. Writing it down is not an option unless you are able to position your paper so that you are looking at the camera. I used my tablet and found it easier to photograph my ID when asked, but whatever is easiest.
  3. It has worked for me countless times. My RFC, as an individual, is 13 characters long. I choose "password generation", on the next page I read the steps which includes "RF to 13 positions", and click "begin". On the next page I click "continue". On the terms a d conditions page I click "continue ". On the following page I input those 13 characters of my RFC, my email, my cell #, then click "continue". If you get that far and need help with the rest, just ask.
  4. The SAT ID site, https://satid.sat.gob.mx, absolutely accepted my 13 digit RFC just fine.
  5. I went to the papelería also and I'm curious how my insurance agent will feel about all the erroneous information on it. The only things that are correct are my name and my RFC, which granted are the most important, but the address might be, too. We'll see soon, I guess.
  6. Then you get the much better Visa/MC rate.
  7. I didn't save the email explaining the reason many entities will require a Constancia, which is generated using a persons REAL RFC #, but as of July 1st it is required of any business generating a factura. In the case of insurance, the policy itself is a legal factura, therefore without a Constancia they cannot by law write a policy.
  8. RickS, I bank at BBVA here in Mexico and at USAA in the U.S. I usually make withdrawals at HSBC, then deposit into my BBVA account. The main reason being that it has always seemed to me that I get more pesos per dollar at HSBC than BBVA. If I understand you correctly, no matter where I withdraw, it's USAA that sets the rate. Do they set the same rate for withdrawals at every bank in a given moment in time, or does it vary?
  9. Live and learn. As others posted before, either go to the Telcel office in Centro Laguna, use the Telcel App, or buy them on your bank App if you have a Mexican bank.
  10. When you see the station. The map shows it ON the highway.
  11. It's 001, then area code, then phone number.
  12. When I went to the office of Dr. Eloy Barragan (Chapala Dental Care) thinking I needed a crown on a back molar that had broken, I was pleased when the dentist I saw explained that she preferred not to put on crowns unless there is absolutely no other option. She was able to use some type of resin to re-create the half of the tooth that was missing, dry it with a light gizmo and I was out of the chair in roughly 1/2 hour. There was no painful shot needed to do the work, so no drooling for the rest of the day. It's as good as an original molar and the cost was a shocker- $600 mxn. This was about a year ago, so prices might have gone up, but still better than the price of a crown.
  13. Walmart typically has front-zip or snap "house dresses" located in the pajama area. I don't know that I would feel comfortable going out in one, but my madrastra loved them for everyday wear around home. I hope your recovery is swift.
  14. Dark and gloomy makes for better fire watching on Mt. Garcia, his favorite pastime.
  15. Assuming you mean what is required to renew my insurance, please read the title of the post.
  16. Each of these hurdles gets higher for me as well. I'll take one small step at a time, but in the end I, too, may need Ana's help. Buena suerte to us both 😊
  17. I know her personally, though being a DIY kind of person, I have never used her services. The people I know who have hired her have been pleased with the work she has done for them. She has a law degree and is a certified court appointed translator along with acting as a concierge for the expat community.
  18. I assumed we got ours when we received our Visas Temporales and used that year. It must have been right ✅ because it as accepted.
  19. I just got word from my insurance agent that this will be required to renew my car insurance in July.
  20. Fill this out and if you have one, it will tell you what it is. I took a screenshot of the page, printed it, and took that to CFE. https://www54.sat.gob.mx/curp/Consult
