I find any attempt to get service repaired an utter waste of my time. Have had internet for one week out of the last twelve. Numerous contacts via phone email and WhatsApp and ten reports filed by TelMex. Have cancelled the auto pay and will see if they bother to pick up the new modem that they provided in June.

Overseas voting for US citizens PLEASE PIN

Original post is incorrect in that Texas requires a mailed ballot. It varies county to county. My county allows an email ballot as long as it is preapproved. If you're registered in Texas you need to check with your county election official. Much easier than USPS. Postscript: Just received my ballot via email, but it can't be returned via email. USPS prepaid mailer included. Not what my county said in previous emails, but I found a mule. -
Better yet, here's her number 33 1447 8926. On the West side North of Surtidor.

Celeste at the little plant shop on Madero in Chapala had some last week. If not in stock she can get it for you.

They've been "out of cards" in Isla Mujeres for about two years. In March I went to the office to check availablity and as I entered I walked past a local exiting with her new card, but, alas, they were "out of cards". Officially the program is fully functional, but I think unofficially someone has decided that some people don't need any discounts. Not sure if there's a similar situation here.

Termites or other chewing varmint?
Dan Hodge replied to Karina G's topic in Ajijic/Chapala/Guadalajara
I have had success with a boric acid solution sprayed on the wood. May take more that one application. Wet the wood and look for entry/exit holes. Not harmful to pets. Have heard of people using moistened cardboard traps to attract the termites, and then disposing of the traps, but have never resorted to that. -
Appears to be of the triatoma family. Commonly called "Assassin or Kissing Bugs" .

Camille was a gifted actress with whom I had the pleasure of joining in a stage production fifty five years ago. She was a free spirit and a marvelous person. I lost track of her when I went to Caifornia to enter college. I next crossed paths with her whilst she was the "Salad Lady" in the Heights. She hadn't changed an iota. The world is lesser in her passing.

Diatomaceous earth, which is available in Chapala and probably in Ajijic, sprinkled liberally around the base, is a good deterrent.

A hen keeps eggs under her at about 99 to 100 degrees, after two days the embryo has begun to form, in twenty one days the chick hatches. I guess you could still gather and eat the egg on or after the second day, but I'll take a pass. If the temperature of the egg drops below 99 then incubation stops. Unrefrigerated eggs will stay fresh up to five weeks, in the fridge up to six months.

Take it from an old farm boy, if the egg floats throw it out, if it sinks, cook and eat it.

traveling to mexico as a temporary resident
Dan Hodge replied to sls's topic in Ajijic/Chapala/Guadalajara
Complete an FMM anytime you exit Mexico, no matter the mode of transport, make sure top and bottom signify residente temporal and proper boxes are checked, keep the top portion and present it when you return to Mexico. -

The ones that grow back in Texas on cow patties in cow pastures can have no effect, get you high, make you sick or kill you. Never liked those odds.

Service of Mirage minisplit a/c-heat unit
Dan Hodge replied to jrod's topic in Ajijic/Chapala/Guadalajara
Have been conversing with American Consulting regarding mini split installation and Mirage is his preferred brand. I'm sure he services them or can recommend someone. -
Yes, do not waste your money buying insurance online via Allianz.

Perhaps so, but they haven't advised me that they did.

Don't ask me what transpired, but CFE bill for a home that was purchased earlier this month is now in my name. No CURP, temporary residency card not yet issued, no visits to CFE, all accomplished by my realtor.
