We have to observe and learn the local rules of urbanity, what body language issues are appropriate and which are not. Why is the behavior of the inhabitants of the new place is different? What do local people expect from me as a new inhabitant of the area? What phrases should I use and at what times? What should I understand about the time structure of the local people so different from mine? We will share with you more about the Mexicans' mindset throughout history to understand why the past affects the present. LCS Children's Art Program Update Summer Art Camp The LCS Children's Art Program (started in 1954 by Neill James) is holding its annual Art Camp starting on Monday, August 7 and ending on Friday, August 11. The hours will be from 10am to 12 noon each day. This popular community event usually attracts 120+ local kids to various art workshops held over a five-day span. This year, we are offering 11 workshops including different painting media, sketching, mosaics, pottery, and corn husk flower making. We will also have a workshop for the little ones aged 5 and under. A sale of some of the kids' creations will take place on Saturday, August 12 from 10am to 2pm. This is our most popular sales event, and will also feature our famous children's art cards. If you would like to volunteer to help in a workshop and/or donate supplies, please contact the program manager, Danielle PagĂŠ, at ChildrensArt@LakeChapalaSociety.com. LCS Art in the Garden Shows Our popular art shows are returning in the Fall. Our first will be a massive two-day show on Friday and Saturday, October 13 and 14 (10am to 3pm). We will not be holding a November show due to previous bookings at LCS. The LCS Christmas Fair featuring holiday art and handicrafts will be held on December 8 and 9. In 2024, LCS Art in the Garden Shows will be held on January 13 and February 10, and the LCS Art Fair will be held on March 9 and 10.
