Lily , yesterday I had 2 transaction of 7000 at HSBC one I accepted the rate of exchange and the other I did not, it came to exactly the same amount at the end.

There's nothing you can do about the exchange rate.

It's the surcharge you can choose to decline.

Also, withdraw more in one transaction if your bank doesn't reimburse the fees at the end of the month.

Healthy food is relative. I remember reading an interview about 40 years ago with what was then the oldest living man in Canada. He mostly lived on canned beans and coffee and smoked cigarettes. He said he quit the cigarettes when he was about 95, cause everyone kept telling him how unheathy they were, but started up again a year later. I think he was about 103.

Healthy eating is an informed choice.

It's okay if someone doesn't care about cholesterol, diabetes, heart health, blood pressure, and weight issues.

Lily, the spirit of your post was right on.     IMHO a lot of the frustration and problem is the lack of focus on keeping people healthy in the 1st place, which is way less costly than dealing with the obesity, diabetes, oxygen, etc in #2 thru 6 in your post.

Of course some conditions are unavoidable and very good to know what is available - even better if the system spent some "$$" on true healthy living, nutrition, wellness and prevention than the "$$$$$$$$$$" it costs to deal with the lack thereof.

I originally posted that after a conversation with a single retiree here. She didn't know such a thing. So she has never used any of those coverage when there is no extra cost on her part even though she goes north to visit family twice a year. Preventive care is just too important to ignore.

Many retirees actively monitor and manage their own health regardless how much they don't like certain health care system, regardless if the government has failed its people.

Even working with excellent doctors, I still will be involved in the decision process which needs to make sense to me.
