  1. Have you heard people surviving in the mountains or western Nebraska that no other people miles away? This's only my family situation: I'm always prepared to feed family of 6 for 2 - 4 months without crises situation. Even more prepared now. Stuff we may not like but enough protein, carbs and fiber to survice. There is creek water, generator, huge gardens, fruit trees, wild mushrooms, wild onions, wild dandelion plus deer around if we are desperate. No water department and utility company needed. Mentally healthy. Never feel sorry for myself whatever got thrown my way. Lucky to be in the woods.
  2. People surviving any pandemics or other crises will learn to adapt as we have better science and technology now than ever. Markets will recover. The loss of human lives because of human errors will be forever lost.
  3. FYI Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) 'CO' for 'corona,' 'VI' for 'virus,' 'D' for disease.
  4. Hope it remains a "ghost town" for a while.
  5. Most people prefer facts, data and common sense vs acting like a barroom brawler.
  6. About wearing masks: Austria has been distributing free face masks at grocery stores and pharmacies since Monday. Czech, Slovakia, Bosnia, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan mandate mask use in public. Both C. D. C. and WHO are reviewing their previous recommendations and considering to reverse it. NY Times: "The C.D.C. is expected to advise all Americans to wear cloth masks in public." Maybe start the reverse behavior training if someone like to touch the face. I bought a bunch from Operation Feed for the gardner and his family. I'm certain pretty soon we will see more mask wearing people to protect yourselves and people around you.
  7. To suggest masks do not work was a lie from the beginning. Some of us adults know once we put them on, we do not touch them.
  8. You're very reasonable! Lakeside is a melting pot with all types charactors, personalities and backgrounds that you won't have a dull moment. The best thing is you really can search for tons of useful information without posting questions (Some are outdated). I have learned a lot on many different subjects. I do put my thumbs away and not log in here for a few days. Know that often when people are arguing especially online, they aren't looking for solutions. It's about dumping his/her opinion out.
  9. A local attorney would be best to answer your specific question.
  10. RickS, If anyone didn't file 2018 and 2019 tax returns, The IRS looks at your Social Security Benefit Statement to calculate your check amount.
  11. Under federal law, the bank can foreclose when one spouse dies unless the surviving spouse assumes the mortgage.
  12. According to the new law, the IRS is going to look first to your 2019 tax return to compute the payment. If no 2019 return has been filed, however, the IRS will grab your 2018 return instead. (If you receive Social Security and don’t need to file a return, the IRS will send you a payment based on your Form 1099-SSA).
  13. Here are some: Jan. 22: "And we have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It’s — going to be just fine.” Jan. 24: “It will all work out well.” Jan. 24: "China has been working very hard to contain the Coronavirus. The United States greatly appreciates their efforts and transparency. It will all work out well. In particular, on behalf of the American People, I want to thank President Xi!" Jan. 30: “We think we have it very well under control. We have very little problem in this country at this moment — five. … we think it’s going to have a very good ending for it.” Feb. 2: “We pretty much shut it down coming in from China.” Feb 14: “We have a very small number of people in the country, right now, with it. It’s like around 12. Many of them are getting better. Some are fully recovered already. So we’re in very good shape.” Feb. 24: “... is very much under control” and the stock market “starting to look very good to me!” Feb. 26: "The United States is really prepared.” Feb. 27: “It’s going to disappear. One day — it’s like a miracle — it will disappear.” Feb. 29: Vaccine will be available "very rapidly." Feb. 29: Obama and Joe Biden “didn’t do anything about” swine flu. “The Obama administration made a decision on testing that turned out to be very detrimental to what we’re doing.” March 2: "It's very mild." March 6: “Anybody that wants a test can get a test.” March 7: "I am not concerned at all." March 10: "It will go away. Just stay calm." ......
  14. Computer Guy, I've blocked you awhile back. No interest to read whatever you said.
  15. I agree - 5 days or 50 days, we have to do it! Lots of nice home cooked meals and lots of family times together ...
  16. It's not the regular menu but have some there. No idea why in Latin on it's website.
  17. Made with alcohol, the NHS, Public Health England and other health organisations worldwide have assured people that anti bacterial hand sanitisers with 60% alcohol content and above are effective against viruses, such as the new coronavirus, but emphasise soap and water is the best option.
  18. ???? The Governor of Jalisco: "I ask the people of Jalisco that this week we make the sacrifice of staying at home, a sacrifice of five days that could avoid making a sacrifice of months". Feelings and emotions to myself, what the governor said was a fact. I've been home for a week, a month or two if necessary.
  19. The OP brought it on to themselves. Staying home for a few days is what socially conscious and responsible adults should do. It's not easy for anyone, but at least have a sense of community.
  20. Please keep all your complaining, whining and spreading fear to yourself.
