  1. Oregontochapala and Harry B....didn’t your mamas teach you if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything.
  2. Since my NOB parents died last year, Mexico is even more cemented as my home now. Don’t have much to go back for with the exception of some dear childhood friends. Some of which are too chicken sh*t to come to visit me in Mexico or they’re the “all inclusive traveler” that stay on “resort only” when they travel. Not my cup of tea but I can understand if you only get 2 weeks holidays a year, one week is for staycationing at home in the summer and the other week for an easy one stop shopping vacation. I’m more the off the beaten track kinda traveler. My travel plans for this year are undergoing a major rehaul , not planning on going anywhere when they reopen things until they lift the mandatory 14 day international travel quarantine in most places. That will be my yardstick.
  3. Welcome rain!!! Lovely rains tonight. Will put a little damper on the dust. Gardens will be glistening tomorrow morning.
  4. The Modelo store in San Antonio is open, Walmart is selling beer effective today, only beer however, no wine or liquor. Lots of people going through the check out with beer.
  5. I couldn’t agree more, taking a walk has some wonderful benefits for the body and mind.
  6. If you can register with CFE contigo they are sending out notices beforehand for service interruptions. Not always 100% accurate but very helpful to have a heads up. We can relate to the OP, while we appreciate the upgrades, no electricity for 15 hours can be taxing during lockdown. And hot. 3pm seems to be the witching hour when the house feels very warm without fans running. A good time for a cold beverage or to take a swim if you have a pool.
  7. The bushy 70’s mustache is now affectionately referred to as a pornstache. 🤪
  8. I was at Walmart around noon today, everyone inside was wearing masks. Most items are well stocked. There were definitely people there over 60 shopping for essentials. Drove through the village to get there, I would say 50% of the people on the street were wearing masks. Keeping in mind it’s the first day, I suspect we will see a higher percentage wearing masks as time goes on. It was pretty much the same as shopping last week except everyone in the store was in a mask.
  9. 🙄 I’m guessing most people on this board are compliant and have been staying home
  10. Call Carlos from the K9 Boutique hotel, he walks our dogs regularly. He’s knowledgeable and reliable and has a lovely bond with dogs and his prices are very reasonable. His number is 331-423-6767. You can also find more information on their Facebook page K9 Boutique Hotel.
  11. I’ve long thought airplanes were a cesspool of germs. I would like to think the impact of this virus will improve the cleaning and sanitation of airplanes and airports. For me, I won’t be traveling until they lift the 14 day mandatory quarantine for international travel. Once that’s lifted, I’ll be the first flight.
  12. I was there yesterday, traffic was smooth going there and back. They were well stocked. Allowing 2 people per membership. There was no line outside as we went early but they were counting at the entrance. All staff wearing gloves and mask. Markings on the floor to keep people in line distanced. Also staff monitoring the lines Someone to unload your cart at the cashier, they don’t want you to do it. Their was a glass guard at the register to protect the cashier, the scan your membership through the glass. Some items like water, paper products, cleaning supplies limited to 2 per customer. Very organized.
  13. Just did a quick Costco run this morning, traffic in Guad was very light, took no time to get there and back. Costco was busy but not crowed, allowing only 2 people in per membership. Everything was well stocked and very organized, all employees in gloves and masks, markers on the floor to keep people in line well distanced. Several sanitation checkpoints on the way there and back.
  14. Lol, good one HB. Sometimes laughter is the best medicine.
  15. Assuming for the sake of argument, masks don’t work, if they make you feel more protected and secure than isn’t that a benefit? A placebo effect if you will. I think the best approach is to do what you feel is right for yourself and try not to concern yourself too much with what others are doing. “Consider how hard it is to change yourself, and you’ll understand how hard it is to change others”
  16. Remember when you were a kid and your mom wanted you to wear a hat but you didn’t want to because you would look stupid or it would mess your hair. Even worse if she wanted you to wear a helmet and kneepads. This is the same kind of thing, a lot of their employees are kids and maybe sometimes it’s a case of the second your mom’s not looking, the gloves are off.
  17. Agree with you Bandol. Reading the previous comments made by Paloma, I’m thinking it’s a troll who is now on ignore.
  18. There’s a good bazaar and consignment shop in Ixtlahuacan de membrillos. Their prices are good and the quality of their items is also good. They deliver for a small fee. I had the location saved on my phone but I can’t find it. Sorry. Perhaps if you know anyone that lives on Ixtlahuacan you could ask them for the location as I’m sure it’s quite a well known place locally. Good luck and happy shopping.
  19. Mmmmmm...NO. There are plenty of people “who have a heart” that are struggling to provide for their families, employees and co workers. Because YOU think they are better off than others is an incorrect and an unfair assumption/generalization.
