  1. All your suggestions have been great thanks you. I did get to speak to someone who put out a service request that he says will be attended to within 72 hours. If they need access to the house they will call. He said he tested the line into the house and it was fine. He also said we should be getting 10 download all the time. We will see what happens. I have been following this forum for about a year because this internet problem can be a deal breaker for me. We just arrived and will be here for 4 months so I hope something can be done. I know from this forum a lot of you will be skeptical but let's see what happens. I will report back and when I get some news and will talk to some of the neighbors here. By the way the owner here assured us they had great Internet.
  2. Anyone know the generic password to access http://192.168.1.254/
  3. Sorry Angus but if you read both of my post you will see I have already done that with no improvement which is strange
  4. Sorry Computer Guy but the model is HG658d. I tried to edit my post earlier. We are located south of the Chula Vista Golf course, south of Mex 23. I believe the area is San Antonio. Riberas is not far from here who get decent internet. I tried phoning Telmex. Owner gave us a 1 800 number she said would get us an English speaking techie but all I get is spanish which I do not understand. It was just a recorded message not a person. Owner also says she will bring a stick here on thursday thats gives better Internet. She does not speak very good english so I have no idea what she is bringing but if it is what I think it is they are no better and you get charged terribly for any downloading. My experience Ethernet is better than wifi. We were getting 2 DL on both. This morning the Ethernet went offline and when I unhooked the cable the wifi worked. never seen anything like it
  5. Just arrived at our destination and the Internet leaves a lot to be desired. Owner says she pays for 10 download. We are getting 2 on wifi. Thought I could better with an ethernet cable but no improvement. the modem model number is Infinitum mcq64. We are in Hamacas on the corner of Calle Arroyo Hondo and De Los Angeles. i am quite computer savvy and I have a number to call Telmex and talk to an English speaking person but wondered if anyone here has any input before I do. is this modem antiquated etc
  6. Yes please. What is their info? How do I see the online selection. Thanks
  7. If taking to bus from Chapala to Guadalajara intending to go to Costco is there a stop to get off before you get to the old bus station or do you get a cab from the bus station? Which of the two Cosctos is preferred? Thanks We arrive November 1st and if someone is driving to Costco and would like some company let me know. This post is on behalf of my Sister Shirley who is the one who actually gets there on the 1st. We will not get there before the 7th at the earliest. Bummer.
  8. We will be wintering for four months in the Ajijic area and would like some advice. We are considering driving down from Lethbridge Alberta to Ajijic and want to do it in four days. I have come up with a plan and I would like some input as to my choices of places to stay etc. Lethbridge to Casper Wyoming says it takes 10h 12min Casper to Carrizozo NM takes 10hr 51min Carrizozo to Torreon or Gomez Palacio Mexico 11h 1min on to Ajijic next day 8h 31min I have no idea about these stops. I just chose them to break the drive up. If anyone can recommend places to stay at these stops or have advice on whether stopping at any of these places is a bad idea or not it would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone has done this drive recently do you have a better plan, and how much did it cost you for gas etc. We do not need a car once we arrive except to go to Costco once in a while. Driving gives us more flexibility however. My sister and her husband have booked a place for the four of us starting Nov 1st. I never know when I will get laid off from work. If driving we can leave as soon as I get laid off. If flying I would have to book for December 1st just to be sure my work has ended. We also will spend March in SMA and having a car would allow us to drive there and then to drive back right away to Canada if I have to go back to work sooner than hoped. Another option is to fly one-way to Guadalajara and fly home out of Leon. Each option has good and bad points. Any insight on this from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Simon Cli
  9. Also for EPL a couple of hours after it is over go to http://www.fullmatchesandshows.com/ You either stream or download quick highlights, extended highlights, or if you scroll down a little lower there are links to each entire half.. No buffering problems there. To download instead using Firefox, install Flash Video Downloader. You should not need to though as the video works great in the browser.. If you have Windows 10 I have found Edge to stream a little better. I am heading. back to Canada tomorrow but will check back here when I can.
  10. When the EPL starts press the pause button and wait about a minute before pressing play.
  11. Before you do this you might have to install "Easy Advanced Settings. You can google that. Acestream works good for EPL. I can post that later or you can google it. On my way to bridge now. Go to System Click System Info Note the Free Memory amount now go to Video, Add-ons, If you move your mouse to the left of the screen you get an option to view thumbnails instead of list if you want just by clicking on "view" Easy Advanced Settings, Edit Settings, Network Settings, Network <buffermode>2</buffermode> <cachemembuffersize>3908042752</cachemembuffersize> This is determined by free memory/3 x 1024 x 1024. <curlclienttimeout>10</curlclienttimeout> <curllowspeedtime>10</curllowspeedtime> <readbufferfactor>5</readbufferfactor> click backward out if screen 3 times and click write xml file. reboot Kodi (if you press reboot in KODI it reboots the computer, just close and reopen KODI)
  12. Too bad you feel that way but Kodi is simple and you can have the apps update themselves. Easy. Best quality picture and with the right settings buffering can be eliminated.
  13. Kodi on a Laptop is awesome.
  14. Are there any good Masseurs in the Lake Chapala/Ajijic area that practice Thai massage? Thanks
  15. There is a lovely bike path on the north side of Hidalgo that seems to run a bit past Mom's Restaurant towards Chapala and end in the other direction at the intersection near Walmart. That is a far as I can tell from Google Maps. Has there been any additions since. If one was to ride a bike from Mom's Restaurant towards Jacopetec, how far could you go safely? Also the local bus from Chapala running along Hildago. How far does that go. Does it go as far as Jacopetec? Thanks
  16. This showed up on the San Miguel yahoo group yesterday. If anyone looks in to this and has any info, please, please. please let us know. We found the perfect house in Las Brisas yesterday but the dreadful Internet was a deal killer. Likewise if I get anymore info I will post it here. Thanks Simon As some people live in places where there is no service from Megacable and Telmex this often leaves people looking for alternative internet solutions. IT HAS ARRIVED. UNLIMITED Broadband Internet with NO THROTTLING from 4G/4G LTE Networks. some users lucky enough to get a 4g LTE signal get in excess of 50Mbps download speed. Your actual speeds are determined by the device you get and the signals available in your area as the SIM itself will connect to Telcel, Movistar or AT&T. however, few devices can connect to all three of these networks at 4G/4G LTE speeds. I have a LIMITED supply of SIMs that you can use in an unlocked smartphone, and soon will have dedicated devices. I have a LIMITED supply of SIMs that you can use in an unlocked smartphone, and soon will have dedicated devices. Using this SIM makes it looks like you are surfing the net from the USA so you get access to Netflix and Hulu from USA for example. NO VPN REQUIRED! as an added bonus these SIMs can optionally offer a USA phone nuber and unlimited calling to USA , Canada, and Mexico. (phone compatible device required) The SIM can also deliver unlimited data in USA, Canada as well as Mexico, however if you want to use it USA or Canada an additional fee is required, and you will need a device compatible with 4g of those countries. In most installations, no external antenna is required, making insrtallation simple. No contracts, cancel at any time. By the way if you are in such a rural area and want a home or office fixed phone number we can help with that as well. Mark teknogeekz.com 415 123 2240
