  1. Where were all of you when this was voted on for Ajijic only? The state was not involved. About 2 12 or 3 years ago the last mayor called for a vote to approve or veto a bike lane through Ajijic. It was held on a Sunday morning on the Colon side of the plaza. Over 100 young men were brought there and signed in to vote. Only about 6 of us were older adults. The young men were PRI voters who owed allegiance to the then mayor. I voted. How did I and the other 5 non PRI voters know about the vote? We saw it in the Guadalajara Reporter and felt it important enough to get up early and go to vote. Too bad you all didn't do the same.
  2. I read the celebration of his life would be the 15th of February but where is to be announced when it is set. The obit just skimmed much of what he did to help those in need in our community. The YEARS he spent interviewing and translating for the Mexican parents who brought their children to the clinic looking for major medical help from Ninos Incapacitado was barely mentioned. It was a long term commitment that will probably never be equaled. RIP Jim.
  3. I went to get my car registration on Thursday. They gave me the paper but no sticker and told me to come back on February 2nd. When I checked the calendar I saw the 2nd is a Sunday. Are they opening another day because of the backup or could have heard wrong. The clerk giving out the registration paper and the cop said the same thing and told me to go to the large room on the side of the counter when I return.
  4. According to friends of mine who go there often with a group to sing, it is not assisted living but independent living. It is supposedly a very nice place. They are expanding it as we speak.
  5. Jerry is still in the area. I saw his wife recently and we spoke for awhile.
  6. The owners called me and reported that she is at a vet being checked, bathed and groomed. She will be heading to Canada with her family in two days. They are beside themselves with joy.
  7. Molly is wearing a collar with a name and phone number but it uses a different name. She answers to Molly but the tag says sSchnitzel. The contact information is correct.
  8. My Magic Jack has died and I need to replace it with a new one that has never been used. If you have one I am in the market. Please contact me . Thanks, MetuchenMama
  9. The chiles en nogada will be available on May 13th for Mothers' Day in Mexico.
  10. I was in Superlake this afternoon and saw boxes of matzos and jars of traditional Passover foods on the shelves right behind the checkout.
  11. Costco in the Guadalajara now charges for parking. You have to get a stamped time card as soon as you enter the building and post it into the machine when you go to the driveway exit to pay or you need to back out of the driveway and return to the building to get stamped. It is a bloody hassle.
  12. Cedros I can go anywhere from Chapala to Jocotopec. I live in San Antonio.

  14. Thanks Harry but this has been going on for two weeks. I don't think they would be wet that long.. We no longer have a lot of rain. I will see that gets checked as a possibility. I just spoke to the mechanic. They had cleaned everything including the wires and they are dry.
  15. My car drives fine all day until the next morning when it cannot start. It doesn't even turn over or click. It can be jump started I need a person who is an auto electrical specialist to find the cause and fix it.. An excellent mechanic has tried but cannot find the problem. This has gone on for two weeks and I need my car. Thanks.
  16. Chillin it is not in Chapala. Take the caraterra west through Ajijic. Just before the Tuesday market you will see some treesn the lake side. That is where to look for the sign on the building and drive into the parking.
  17. I have eaten twice at The Smokehouse recently and think it is very good. I particularly loved their brisket....Excellent. I will try their hamburgers next as they look wonderful and a large group that was there when I saw the burgers said they were as good as they looked when asked how they tasted. The brisket is expensive for the portion but the hamburgers are a good pirce. Meals come with two sides. Their onion rings were very tasty and crisp.
  18. Dra. Justina used stem cells for her diabetes. She is an outstanding doctor. I would trust her completely and choose her over Hernandez any day.
  19. I just looked at this year's car insurance policy and found an R.F.C. number on it with my name above it. Can I assume it is my number not the agent's. Someone mentioned it should have some of your information such as a birth date woven into the R.F.C>. number. The number on the insurance policy does not. My curp number does.
  20. Thanks for the info El Bizco. Did you need an appointment at the Jocotopec hospital to get the renewal or is a walk in ok?
  21. I sent you a PM It was requesting the same information Cedros asked for. I don't know why it did not go through.
  22. Thanks for the update JayBearII . A friend and I are planning to meet there on Saturday. We were wondering how it is.
  23. Like the first posters I too have tried Los Telares sporadically for years. Once I had good food and good service. There was a new manager. He left and it reverted back to the usual poor service and nondescript food.
