  1. Teachers and educational staff in Chapala on April 28th received the single-dose CanSino vaccine, not the dual-dose vaccine from Sinovac Biotech. Therefore, it is incorrect to say that people who received an initial Sinovac shot were denied their second inoculation due to "teachers' priority".
  2. The purpose of "puente" is to move a holiday so it becomes part of the week-end period. Since May 1st falls on a weekend there is no occasion for shifting the "Día del Trabajo" celebration this year.
  3. If you go to the Lake Cam at www.ajijicweather.com there's a time lapse video movie that runs from 12:30 a.m. Thursday to 11:30 p.m. Thursday showing the progress of the smoke and fire. Very interesting to watch.

  5. Galeana is not a street but rather the name of the walkway that runs through the plaza area in Chapala.
  6. Reminder -- Vallarta’s queen of song, Kim Kuzma, along with her band Acustico, performs two concerts in the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) garden, Sunday, March 28, at 2 and 4:30 p.m. Concert tickets can only be purchased at the LCS office Monday - Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. VIP tickets are 500 pesos and general seats are 350 pesos. 7. According to covid19.trackvaccines.org, five different vaccines have been approved for use in Mexico. Source: https://covid19.trackvaccines.org/country/mexico/
  8. Gorditas in Mexico are "little fat ones". Looks like arepas in Venezuela are grandes gordas ("big fat ones")!
  9. Tomgates -- Google is a wonderful resource but knowledgeable people, rather than computer systems, often provide superior information. In the posting you provided above, I didn't find any references about record keeping and disclosure requirements imposed upon USA citizens that help manage charitable funds held in foreign nonprofit bank accounts.
  10. When I first moved to the border years ago, a co-worker introduced me to gorditas ("little fat ones") and they are still my favorite Mexican dish today.
  11. Perhaps like in the story "The Little Mermaid", this 'Mermaidgirl' found a prince, became human, and is beholding her new legs and feet.
  12. Found this graphic -- not sure if the number is right . . .
  13. traderspoc and Bisbee Gal -- Thank you for providing this important information. Can you perhaps comment as well about reporting requirements related to U.S. citizens who might be, say, the treasurer of a Mexico nonprofit or who collect and disperse funds from a bank account owned by a Mexican charity? There are so many ex-pats here who devote time to charitable causes. Thanks again.
  14. For USA taxpayers wanting a paid provider, I too can recommend Scott Graville and his team: Taxes in Mexico Offices in Riberas del Pilar www.taxesinmexico.com 376-765-5273
  15. True, but if you go to the unotv.com website it says we are supposed to have a choice!
  16. Someone, somewhere must know how to stop unwanted UnoTV text messages from coming in to phones that use Telcel cellular service. In the past people have recommended texting "BAJA" to "2222" or "2252", but that does not work.
  17. This morning the NPR "Morning Edition" radio news program from the USA commented about ". . . disastrous roll-out of the computerized vaccine registration system for seniors, which kept crashing the first 3 days it went on-line last week." After the broadcast I went to the web site and and registered myself in about one minute. I don't like it when news programs reach for the bad news and forget to report about positive developments. = = = = = = = = = = = Mexico's Ambitious COVID-19 Vaccination Strategy Falls Into Disarray NPR Morning Edition 9 Feb. 2021 http://n.pr/2Oh0W5P
  18. Did you renew your vehicle registration for 2021 using the online website? If so, how did you pay and how do you subsequently obtain your official documents (tarjeta de circulación permit, windshield sticker, proof of payment receipt)
  19. The weather underground weather station ICHAPALA2 located in Brisas de Chapala reported 52.5° F (11.4° C) at 8:00 am today Dec. 31st. https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/ICHAPALA2
  20. There is so much information floating around about the processes involved in immigrating to Mexico that it's easy to forget the basics: A visitor permit is for foreign tourists (for stays of up to 180 days); A temporary resident visa is for temporary foreign residents (for stays of more than 180 days but not longer than 4 years); A permanent resident visa is for permanent foreign residents (for those who wish to remain in Mexico indefinitely).
  21. The problem here is that Copell Chapala does not tell you they don't take USA credit cards, but rather they stick it in the machine and then the card is refused. I complained to my credit card company and they politely told me that it was the merchant who rejected the transaction. I was somewhat embarrassed at having accused Mastercard of causing the problem.
