  1. The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated. If I want to say something to someone, I usually PM them. I do ask questions PRN Eric/Clueless/David/ whatever.
  2. I received my first two Covid shots in the U.S. Now I need/want a booster in Mexico and can mix and match with Astrro Zenica. Problem is that I'm not in the Mexican system, so this would be my first shot here. What would be my best course to get the needed shot? Thanks.
  3. Chapala Haciendas, 1.5 bathrooms. Last pumped mucho years ago. Any recommendations? Guestimate on cost? Thanks.
  4. just talked to them this morning. One of the doctors is in Germany now and Dr. Claudia, when last heard from, was in Mexico City, but now she can't be reached. Also, EyeCenter is being remodeled and the phone now not being answered. I'm looking for another Ophthalmologist locally to Chapala/Ajijic. Any recommendations? Thanks.
  5. I would like to find a house for a Mexican family. Mother, 15-year old son and two younger (not toddlers) kids. I need it to be within a 15-minute drive from Chapala. I'm looking for 2 (maybe 3) bdrms and 1.5 or 2 bath. Now the Unicorn part. Price must be in pesos and a middle class neighborhood. Not dirt floors and windows w/o glass and real doors. I don't believe/know any R.E. Brokers locally that I think would handle these kind of houses; really not that much $$ in commission, but maybe I'm wrong. Any thoughts/input appreciated. I really prefer PM if possible. Thanks.
  6. When I say hire, that is as in pay someone. I have had to moderna vaccinations. The last one was on the last day of November 2021. Hi obviously I'm due for hey booster but I cannot get one here. I understand that I can mix and match with see AstraZeneca. My problem is said I continue to miss finding the locations in Chapala. I want someone who will take this on as a job. I am not looking for a freebie. If you can help me, please send me a PM and how much you would want. I live in Chapala haciendas. Thank you
  7. Hand held gizmo. Speak your language and it comes our in a language you have chosen. May have ability to take earbuds. has anyone used/tried these? Would really help me. Have you had any experience(s) with these? Thanks.
  8. IMO, simply say after the visit, you will pay when you are given the factura you need.
  9. My bad. I never went to proofreading school. But you understood, and that's what's important. Thanks to all that have responded on point.
  10. I assume this topic is current for 2022. I have a pair of Rexton BTE hearing aids. They have molded earpieces. I need them looked at and "tuned up" as needed. I picked up one phone # here, 332-945-3267. Is the "office" at LCS still open or reopened? I know I could go to Costco, but I'm figuring even with the gringo tax, local will be better. Any input? Thanks.
  11. I haven't visited everyplace local to Ajijic/Chapala, and prefer not to, so I am asking for personal experiences here. I can't Google what you know. The prices of specialized dog food for a medical condition are, on MercadoLibra, hard to believe. Am I, generally speaking, from your personal experience, better off buying locally or go w/M.L? Unless you really thrive on attention, please send your nasty/sarcastic comments to me in PM. I promise t read them. What I am asking for here is personal experiences. This is, from what I understand, one of the reasons for these boards. Thanks.
  12. Any help for me to understand will be appreciated. My research ability in Mexican law is very limited. Thanks.
  13. Gerry, you are totally, 100% wrong. Any comment(s) from me are general; if they are as to a specific person, I will name the person. Making a negative review of anyone, including attorneys, vets, plumbers, doctors, etc. is now legal here and has been for many years. Look up the history of the laws here on defamation. Anything can turn on the words used.
  14. Please people, this is not a joke. I screwed up something and need to give the correct information, but I deleted all the PMs. This is important. Thank you.
  15. I vote also for Dr. Sam. I had a terrible experience with one "specialist" at Ajijic hospital 2 years ago. I was told he spoke conversational English; HE DIDN'T. I had a single question about a fluoroscope and what it will visualize. It was a simple "Yes" or "No" question. I asked the question and he pulled out a model or arteries that showed how plaque is formed. I said I knew all that and slowly repeated my question. He still didn't understand. I paid $500.00 ( even though the board at the desk said $400.00 and left.
  16. SPANISH VERSION BELOW Maybe you can give me a suggestion. I have a large mylar model of Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise. It is custom made. I just talked to the tech representative that worked with me to make the model. The model is 4' H and 7.5 ' long. It will be tethered to a truck on a 25' cable. ] The 5 seams are rated for a specific internal pressure, with a 10% margin of safety and guarantee. My problem is that a mix of 20-25% oxygen will require additional mix that will not assist in the lift. More important is that a 20-25% increase in mixed gases could separate the seams, and that would not be covered by the guarantee. This is why I need a purity of 99+% But I don't know how much/many tanks I would need to get the lift. Any help/suggestions you have will be appreciated. Thanks. Gracias.
  17. For some people learning another language is easy, for others, it's not. Then there are those who simply can not learn it due to some "issue." I am very hard-of-hearing and have been for decades. This more than slightly impacts my ability to learn Spanish. I know enough to get my ideas across, but have to rely heavily on "Si, no," and pointing to understand. Sometimes I use my cell phone translator, but that's slow and not always accurate. I do agree however, that people who won't even try to learn the native language will have self-induced problems.
  18. I was speaking of Mexico not to United States. There is a reality here in Mexico, or at least Lakeside, and that is Gringos are looked at as cash cows, and they will be milked for everything possible. That is my opinion based on my experiences during the 18 years I have lived here.
  19. Even the "high" costs her for medical attention, dwarf many places in the U.S. if you don't have insurance. Medical bankruptcies are at record numbers in the U.S. Some hospitals have even asked to see the deed to the patient's house. No s**t.
  20. BACKGROUND When I arrived here 19-years ago, I “discovered” Open Circle and went to some presentations. I thought that it would be it would also be nice to have something more interactive. I met Susan Freud, a smart lady, and we talked about having panel discussions. The idea was to have a topic and a panel of “Experts.” The format would vary but the idea would be for a topic to be presented, and then members of the audience would query a panel member on his/her input. Our panel members, depending on the subject, included Rabbi Philip Posner, Sabrina Hood, a reporter from the Guadalajara Reporter and others. Depending on the subject matter, the panel members would include an ethicist, someone in the medical field, and an “average” Joe or Jane from the community. We got the Nueva Posada to let us use their indoor dining area. There was a $20.00(that's pesos) fee which went 100% to Nueva Posada which provided coffee and Tea. I don’t recall all the topics, I think we did 4 or 5 before Susan left. I recall four specific topics: 1. “THEY SHOOT HORSES, DON’T THEY? 2. THE CASE FOR ASSISTED SUICIDE.” 3. “SENIOR SEX, USE IT TO LOSE IT.” 4. “THE ARAB ISRALI DISPUTE FROM A DIFFERENT SET OF EYES.” The Chapala Reporter gave us free coverage. The turnouts were great. One was SRO - -Really. CURRENTLY WHAT I’M ASKING/LOOKING FOR. I would like a Co-Moderator, a lady, to work with me putting the panels together. The moderators would get the panel members, arrange a venue, maybe LCS or N.P.( again). The moderators would each make a statement on the subject matter, sort of prime the audience. Then maybe a short break and audience members can either ask questions directly or submit then in writing (identities not shown). Of course COVID protocols would be in place, 100% Anyone interested please PM me and say why you would like to co-host; why you think you would be good, and your availability. We can do most everything by emails. There will be no cash outlay. If there are costs, I will pay them and not take reimbursement. Suggestions will be appreciated and considered. Snarky, nasty comments from those who need the attention, will be ignored. Thanks in advance.
  21. Now that I bought a membership, I figured better deal might be a shopping service, depending on how much/many items we want.
  22. I agree. They don't want customers to go away unhappy because something was "out of stock." They probably don't want people to buy a lot and resell them at a higher cost.
