  1. Just filled up at the PeMex station after the Joco sign... All octanes available and no waiting... 10am Sunday
  2. Ferret: Agree ! Our aljibe cycles more than it should and has been since we moved in three years ago... We are having it pulled this month to determine the problem which may be that it is losing its prime...
  3. So what is so wrong with sharing the wealth? Better for one to do it than some government!
  4. Our bills for 2018 averaged 500 pesos or 250 a month but we have the following: a pool, refrigerator, freezer, washer (3-4 loads / wk), toaster, dishwasher, two computers, printer, etc... But we have solar (10 panels) and CFE billing is somewhere in LA LA Land... Our usage doesn't vary from month to month but the bills do. Even taking into account weather variations the CFE system is less than optimal. One month 129 pesos and 920 at another...
  5. As a non profit you may be able to secure a free or greatly reduced cost from a solar vendor... Highly Recommend Nyah at Opiere Solar 766-6148
  6. My reason for maintaining Part B is that outside of an accident or immediate emergency, I would travel to the US, have the required major surgery and return. The determining factor to the above is what is my out of pocket cost...
  7. We considered dropping Part B but because of age we opted not to... One takes their chances by dropping Part B even if one is financially able to self insure here in Mexico...
  8. If one visits the same restaurant frequently, leaving a gracious tip doubly ensures that one will get a table when there is a waiting line... and the service continues to be outstanding...
  9. I believe in rewarding good service... A maid who goes the extra mile and does more than the customary duties is worth their weight in gold... Same for gardeners, good work deserves a better than average compensation... My dos centavos...
  10. My child bride paid $280p in December... Not being an aficionado of the gell nail community, I found out that prices do vary as does the quality of service... So it seems that one finds a vendor who provides adequate service and one pays the price... If you don't get what you pay for, go elsewhere...
  11. Disagree! We have had staff in 8 different countries... Treat others as you would be treated... This pays off... That said we had to let our first maid go as after three years we found out she was stealing ... Her replacement however , is a gift from heaven... Our gardener is a gem also...
  12. Ditto on Ibarra's recommendation... We have used them repeatedly for bedspread cleaning... Excellent work at fair prices...
  13. I would say that reputation is important... It behooves the owner to get referrals from people who have had similar work done... Our contractor has done an excellent job on a number of projects at our house... He is not cheap but the work is quality and if there is a problem it is corrected... Having spent the majority of my working career in both domestic and international construction, I would say that "we got what we paid for".
  14. When we arrived in 2015 the peso was 15/1. A steak dinner at Yves was 180 pesos or $12 U.S. Today that steak costs 220 pesos but the peso is hovering around 20/1 the steak costs $11 U.S.
  15. I need to transfer drawings to foam and am looking for a ponce wheel... I tried Amazon mx and Mercadolibre with no luck... Any suggestions? Txs...
  16. The consulate sets the exchange rate monthly. Using that rate you determine the number of pesos needed. In Nov. the exchange rate was 20.5 pesos/dollar... No idea what it is for Dec.
  17. If you have never lived outside of the US, then you are in for a surprise... Services here are sometimes wanting, especially if your livelihood depends on them... Your data requirements outshine most areas at the present time... TelMex is hard pressed to provide adequate service to many areas... The new fiber-optic service is still in the installation stage. The good news is that this increased competition may induce TelMex to open their wallet and upgrade their service... As mentioned above, make sure that the area you choose will accommodate your need...
  18. Another great example of why people keep their money NOB!
  19. When I dumped my 2015 Miata, Carmax was $2000 under the amount the dealer offered... The salesman admitted they under bid....
  20. Activity, activity.... Has anyone been hooked up yet???????
  21. This web board and this thread only go to prove that there are a lot of people here with tooo much time on their hands and are tired of examining their navels...
  22. Need a bit more info here... Is it just your house that is having difficulty? If so this is a CFE problem. If not, reset your breakers and call an electrician and have him get a cover for the breaker box... You might wish to have him reset the breakers if you are leary... Dos centavos...
