  1. How difficult is it for U.S. citizens living in this area to copy and paste the e-mail I sent to the U.S. Consulate? For your convenience, here is their e-mail address: acsgdl @ state.gov

If we are all proactive, we may get somewhere. Spread the word to your friends in this area. Ask your friends in other parts of Mexico to write to their appropriate consulate. If we do nothing, we will get nothing.

I would guess that decision is up to the new administration.

The new administration is going to be spending trillions of dollars on covid relief packages. If they can’t provide covid vaccines directly, they could send payments to U.S. citizens abroad in lieu of that.

can you imagine the logistics. nah, wont happen

A lame reason. Has logistics stopped them from collecting taxes from U.S. citizens living abroad, or subjecting them to the same financial laws as Americans living at home? Don’t U.S. taxpayers living abroad have any rights? If we don’t stand up for our rights, who will?

  4. The following is the text of my e-mail to the U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara:

    "To: The Person In Charge

The United States government is dispensing Covid vaccines to the American population.
Will the U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara be organizing Covid vaccines to be dispensed to U.S. citizens living in this area?
I would really appreciate if I could get a response as to the kind of assistance that will be available to U.S. citizens living abroad with regard to Covid vaccines.

    Sincerely,
    xxxxxxxxxxx"

I was wondering if the U.S. government is providing any assistance to it's citizens abroad? We file and pay our fair share of taxes which supported Operation Warp Speed. Will U.S. citizens living abroad get any help?

I guess we can always try the alternative magic talisman recommend by the President

Can you please tell me where and when this talisman that will keep me safe from Covid is available? Will it cause any allergic reaction? I need to be liberated from this social distancing.

  6. I paid my property tax in Chapala, this morning. It went up by 10.4 %. They office opens at 9:00 a.m. I'm not sure what time they close. You're given a number as you go in through the front door, then wait until they call you up. The while process took twenty minutes.

  7. I am currently using Unblock-us (VPN)  which was installed on my Airport Extreme. Unblock-us is going out of business, and is in the process of moving all their accounts to StrongVPN. Unfortunately, StrongVPN does not support Airport Extreme. Does anyone know of another VPN that can be installed on my Airport Extreme? Thanks.

  8. There is a store next to the Waffle House selling empanadas, pizzas, and salads. They have a huge selection of empanadas at 30 pesos each. I tried a couple, and liked both. They're open 7 days a week. Great for takeout as the empanadas hold up well.

So, are the banks in trouble? Well, tomorrow when rents in the U S are due and are not being paid it is possible that the banks will find themselves holding the bag. Most of that stuff ends up in bonds, so if the income to the bonds stops........ its's not good. How much of the financial collapse can the U S Government prop up??? They are buying ETF bond funds now and talking about buying stocks. Can the Gov. print themselves out of this mess?

How is this related to whether Banks and ATM's are open for business here is Ajijic? Stay on point, please.

  10. I thought the self-quarantine period required by the Governor of Jalisco was for 5 days starting Friday, March 20, and ending today Tuesday, March 24: http://www.banderasnews.com/2003/jalisco-5-day-voluntary-quarantine.htm

I would have assumed that starting tomorrow, Wednesday March 25, the period of self-quarantine would be over, and maids, gardeners, etc. would re-start their normal schedule. Exercising an abundance of caution, I would maintain a distance of 6 feet (2 meters) between the employee and me.
