  1. Guadalajara Reporter 16 hrs · Physician reports Covid-19 cases in Chapala Although official records show no confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the municipality of Chapala, a well-respected local doctor begs to differ, citing personal experience as both attending physician and patient of the disease. Dr. Lupita Cevallos, a general practitioner who has lived and worked at lakeside for the past 11 years, tells the Guadalajara Reporter that she had contact with a patient showing severe symptoms of SARS-Cov-2 infection on April 14. The person was airlifted to a Texas hospital where the diagnosis was confirmed 72 hours later, she says. Understanding the risks, Cevallos immediately put herself into self-isolation. She began feeling Covid-19 symptoms 10 days later. She says she has been tested for the disease twice since then. An oral PCR test applied at the Jocotepec Community Hospital on April 25 came back negative. A nasopharyngeal PCR test practiced three days later at an authorized private laboratory in Guadalajara was also negative, but Cevallos says a blood serum test for IgG antibodies suggested that she had been exposed to the disease and is not currently infectious. After recovering from her symptoms and regaining her strength, the doctor returned to work at her Integrity health clinic in Ajijic on Monday, May 11. She reports that her Covid-19 patient remains in intensive care in Texas. Through contact tracing she has determined that none of her other patients have contracted the disease. “People need to know that they can have the disease and still be negative in the tests. It is definitely happening in the area,” she concludes. (This is a summary of an extensive article to be published in the next edition of The Reporter.)
  2. It is my understanding that it depends on where you reside. I have seen a couple of times where they took the case out of one town and moved it to another as the person did not live where the test was done.
  3. Lazy Boy repair man for recliner. I believe the furniture store by Sunrise Restaurant has one. I don't know the name of that store or their phone #. Can anyone help? Thanks.
  4. It is pretty sad that nobody notified the community of the problem. There are people totally unaware of the problem and the need to conserve water, just washing cars, sidewalks, etc. I understand parts of Riberas is only receiving water in the early morning. In the meantime all types of new construction, including the large ones such as the one by the Coke place, continue to be approved.
  5. I was told by a resident that the town is sending Pipas to people who are out of water.
  6. You should also consider all the countries have been shut down and it will take some time for them to recover and be"open for business".
  7. Too bad the cat killed it as it is a good animal to have around, one of its' foods is cockroaches. It is not a mouse.
  8. I am done and will not give any info any more as the picayune on here is ridiculous. Sheesh, try to be friendly and helpful and all one gets is criticism. This has gotten worse the TOB.
  9. Here is the municipality of Chapala. There is the municipality of Jocotopec.
  10. There is one between here and Joco, don't know exactly where. A Joco resident needed to come to this area for a Dr's appt and had a hard time getting through.
  11. You find the need to be negative about a post from February which others may have liked? Don't like it, don't read it. So critical of everyone and everything.
  12. "Eligible retirees and recipients of Social Security, Railroad Retirement, disability or veterans' benefits as well as taxpayers who do not make enough money to normally have to file a tax return will receive a payment. This also includes those who have no income, as well as those whose income comes entirely from certain benefit programs, such as Supplemental Security Income benefits. Retirees who receive either Social Security retirement or Railroad Retirement benefits will also receive payments automatically."

  14. Forty years ago is ancient history in this regard. There was no pandemic, you were not asked to stay home and keep from spreading a deadly disease. Forty years ago the food was grown locally, many at the markets get their food from the Abastos not their backyards. The local small businesses have fresh, unsprayed produce, Walmart is not the only option. There are many small venues all over, Mexicans with no other source of income, struggling to survive. These are the people who need our support, not the expats looking to supplement the steady income they can count on.
  15. The Monday market at Sunrise restaurant and the Tuesday market at La Huerta should be closed also but greed winns the day. I agree, this was started in order to provide healthier choices, that is no longer the case. Encouraging people to go out when they have been asked to stay home is not thinking of anyone's health. Shame on them.
  16. According to the Puerto Vallarta paper, the mayor has order 500 double graves dug in anticipation of the deaths there. Maybe they will need more if no other precautions are being taken.
  17. I believe that is the case in many of the pueblos lakeside now, Ajijic supposedly needs an additional well as does San Antonio to name a couple.
  18. Pretty ridiculous as almost all payments will be made by direct deposit, no paper checks.
  19. Hopefully these supplies are not the same as the sub-standard equipment China sent to Italy and Spain.

  21. Just curious, which country or countries have been doing a better job? How many tests did SK do in 8 days, not 8 weeks? Why do you hate the US so much that you feel the need to attack everything it does?
  22. Yup, lot of haters out there and here.
  23. The lady doctor whose name I can remember, stated yesterday that the US has tested more in the last 8 days than South Korea has done in 8 weeks. Keep up with the latest.
