  1. La Pacena and they have lobster tail today. Oh, and Mario's in SAT is also open.
  2. Yes and it is easy enough to mow one's own lawn, clean one's own house, etc, but who wants to? Anything can be made at home, however, we are retired. I have a friend who keeps saying the same to me, oh it is easy enough to make, do, etc
  3. I had much respect for Charlie and had planned to go. However life got in the way and I was sorrowfully unable to attend. My not attending does not diminish this respect in any way. R.I.P. Charlie, ya done good!
  4. They didn't have hamburger buns yesterday and would have the english muffins, "later", as they wont sell anything which is not fresh. New business has kinks to work out. She will be making Bialys Friday, don't know what time.
  5. There is no sign and no brown doughnut anywhere in the vicinity of the shop. I have been there many times since they opened, it is just as the picture shows, the arched door next to the llantera shop. "A picture is worth a thousand words".
  6. That is the green tire from the tire place, not a doughnut. They are next door and are open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Wednesday they are at the tianguis.
  7. I am curious, does anyone know who pays for the rockets used for Guadalupe? Someone told me the unions do, but I thought that was only for the San Andres festival. Just wondering about it as I also heard the unions are buying louder ones this year as they are having some sort of dispute with the church? Thanks for the info, as I said, just curious.
  8. She is the dog I thought. Ginger had come to me with the info she needed another dog, it had to be female and older. I checked out what we had at the ranch and found the perfect girl for Ginger. She loved that dog and was very happy with her. The only complaint she had in the beginning was the dog did not bark, LOL. She is a nice dog and if I could I would take her in here. I am hoping that the old girl does not have to go up to the cold ranch at this stage of her life. Please, someone, are you able to adopt her and give her some good years in your home?
  9. I have been giving my dogs Glucosamine Chondroitin with MSM for 20 - 30 years. I buy the large bottle at Costco. The first time I used it was for a dog which was partially paralyzed on the recommendation of a breeder. She had a Dachshund which was paralyzed from the "waist" down and the dog recovered when given this. I do not buy anything from the vets, it is the same stuff only more costly. Through the years I have had other Dachsies with this same or like problems as well as a few larger dogs with joint problems and always have given this to them with positive results. At the moment I have a Schnauzer who was not using one of his back legs, had him at Dr. Carlos Baron in Guadalajara and was given expensive medicine which included the Glucosamine. He is now using his back leg normally again, I give him a pill every day. I also have a dog on the Carprotec, She needs it for a bone spur. I wean her off it whenever I can, sometimes I just give her half or one every other day. If she has pain again I go back to one a day until I see she appears to be OK. I do not know the long term affect of this, she was on another pain killer which had adverse impact on her health in the long run. Hope this helps you, as I said, I buy a big jar of the Glucosamine at Costco, cheaper that way.
  10. Please more info about this old dog, how old, how big, etc. Is she one of Ginger's dogs?
  11. There is another shop on Velasco, I think it is between Zaragoza and Juarez. It will be on the right hand side of the street. They are a branch of the one on Colon in Ajijic.
  12. 60 pesos is a decent wage when one is living on the Mexican economy and not the US or Canadian. This kind of thinking has really messed up things for the Mexicans who wish to hire someone to do a job and cannot afford to pay NOB wages. It still is, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do", in this case Mexico. This is something Mexicans often complain about when speaking of the Gringos, how they have been forced from their homes when the houses are bought and the rents become NOB rents instead of Mexican.
  13. How can I find out who owns a piece of property or a house?
  14. Vinegar works well, it is a disinfectant as well as a deodorizer. I just mix it with water when I mop the floor. I also use it when I wash dog items as it removes the odors. It works well as a softener also.
  15. I have also returned an item with no problem. I even forgot my receipt and they were able to look the purchase up on the computer. Needless to say, I was a happy camper.
  16. It has been reported on FB that over 50 dogs have been poisoned also cats and birds. Doesn't matter if they are on the street, their own property or on a leash. A 24/7 hot line has been set up and they are investigating. It has been stated Joco will be creating a shelter as well. The video was in Spanish so do not have all the info. I think the man must be the Mayor, don't know though.
  17. There were no barriers in La Floresta, only those round orange things.
  18. I understand new barricades between the ciclopista and the car lane are being installed.
  19. I have a small whisk type broom and dustpan which I bought either in the automotive dept or Auto Zone. Or you can google Fuller brush whisk broom.
  20. Not for nothing, but I thought the state was going to redo the road from Chapala to Joco, what happened to that? Now it is bike lanes for a minimal amount of bike traffic. What happened to the redo? That is what is needed, the road is so bad in certain areas, Riberas to just name one.
  21. Interesting how Carnivore puts the blame of the bad reviews on the customers, they are ignorant of fine dining, they only like "junk" food such as hamburgers, etc. Much as the perpetrator blames the victim and society for his bad behavior. I have dined at Scallions as well and found them lacking. Each time I went, not once, not twice, not three times, but four. I gave them plenty of chances at all meals of the day, breakfast, lunch and dinner and they failed every time. I no longer have their number in my phone.
