In the above list of qualifications from the Treasurer he refers to LCS as a charity. This is not correct. In Mexico a non-profit and a charity are not the same thing. A charity has a very high bar that means all of its activities must be directed towards a specific charitable goal such as housing orphans or providing food to poor families and it must be registered as a charity with the government. LCS does not have a charitable goal and is not registered as one. It is a non-profit, but it is not a charity.
I find it disturbing that the board does not know this, especially the Treasurer who should absolutely realize this. It makes me wonder what level of competence this board has. What is the basis for selecting the board members?
