The house I now own was built by Pedro Arellano for the retiring mayor of Chapala in the early 2,000's. He was paying for it with municipal funds but got caught. Arellano then sold it to a Texan from whom we purchased in 2012. For the past 10 years I have worked on the Boards of two ACs and that deal regularly with the Municipality. The motivators seem to be a good photo op and money. Otherwise don't bother me. SunFan

  12. I'm told they had 350 reservations for the Thanksgiving dinner. Amazingly the quality of the service and food was top notch. Alejandro rented an industrial convection oven to do the 33 Turkeys. We even saw Steve Balfour busing tables. SunFan

  16. I remember 14 years ago when the Toronto Public Library was installing fiber into its 100 branches the Electric utility required a load analysis on every pole that would be used. They were cement poles not wood. Four or five cables on a wooden pole generate a lot of weight. SunFan
  17. The Casa Linda opening at the LCS was a real event - live bands, hourederves, free soft drinks, wine and tequila. The Chapala Presidente gave a speech and the new American Consulate head was introduced. Breakfast and lunch served 9 to 3 PM Monday to Saturday. SunFan
  18. This will give Yoly an opportunity to pick up a few more community responsibilities. I don't think "retirement' and Yoly fit in the same sentence. In addition to running her own business full time, she is also Vice-president of the Lake Chapala Society, President of Cruz Roja and sits on the Board of SIMAPA and that's only the contributions I'm aware of. 21. I got my first parking ticket in twelve years in SAT on Friday. I'm confused as to where to pay it. The ticket says at City hall..... but some friends say Oxxo or any Bank. I would prefer to avoid parking at the municipal building. Can I really pay at other locations? TIA SunFan
  22. The new LCS Reservation Service is great for Snowbirds/Sunbirds and those who are travelling. You can view/book and pay for classes/events/trips from anywhere you have internet access. You no longer have to visit the LCS office to purchase. SunFan

  24. I know the Lake Chapala Society has a longstanding program for student aid. I believe they are supporting over 40 students this year. I don't have contact information but I'm sure there is something on their web site https://lakechapalasociety.com/public/ SnFan
