The people at INM Chapala are helpful and speak english and if you don't get an answer here don't worry. When I've gone there for renewing a residente temporal, they have provided me with printed instructions on what steps are needed to proceed. I suggest you just go there and ask what is needed. Doing it without a facilitator is not a hassle.

When I was there last week I asked about lamb dishes, and they said maybe in the future they'd have one once a week. So ask, encourage, show that there's a demand!

I have mild asthma and am only bothered a few times per year (in the dry spring) by the smoke from burning fields. I just stay inside those days. I don't have any problems the rest of the year. But I don't usually even take meds for my asthma, so YMMV.

When we had a problem that our plumbers couldn't solve, they brought in Jose Martinez of Chapala ( don't have his number). Our problem had to do with figuring out where the pipes were, and Martinez has a camera on a cable to put down the pipes, so that helped us but isn't right for you. But Martinez was professional and competent, and if I had a difficult problem I'd probably call him.
