As of at least a few months ago, the consulate is now issuing an electronic version of the consular report of a death abroad for Americans. A couple of years ago when I went through this process, I handled getting the consular report myself. I seem to remember an annoying phone tree getting through to the right person at the consulate, but the whole process was straightforward. At that time they gave me 10 copies of the report. I paid nothing, and they sent the reports to me. I did end up needing the report for a few financial and legal things in the US (along with the Mexican death certificate).

WANTED HARVARD CLASSIC OR GREAT BOOKS OF THE WESTERN WORLD
Cronopio replied to MacD's topic in General Merchandise
You should definitely check out the book selection at the recycling center in west Ajijic--all those books are the type that get donated. I´ve seen Will Durant´s books there in the past, but I don´t know what they currently have. I think you can also put your name on a list to be notified if books you´re looking for come in. -
This is one of those responses that doesn't answer your question (I never had cortisone shots here), but when I had tennis elbow, the thing that worked the best was using a Theraband flexbar for arm and wrist exercises. It really did the trick after I'd had tennis elbow for months. https://www.amazon.com.mx/TheraBand-FlexBar-Barra-para-Terapeútica/dp/B00067E4YU/ref=sr_1_1?__mk_es_MX=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&crid=22GOVXFDI68LV&keywords=theraband%2Bflexbar&qid=1700155197&sprefix=theraband%2Bflexbar%2Caps%2C132&sr=8-1&th=1

Thanks!

Thanks for the links. Do you have experience with them? With pools or other?
-
I need to renovate my pool and am looking for contractor recommendations. If you´ve had good (or bad!) experiences with pool construction or reno in the past few years, I´d love to hear about it (pm is fine). Rudy Rentaria is (kind of) retired and is unavailable, unfortunately.

If you do decide you want to try the CBD oil on your dog, I have two unopened boxes of NuLeaf Full Spectrum Pet CBD oil for 1000 pesos each. I bought them a year ago and ended up not using it. The boxes dates say BB 05/2023, but if you have doubts about using it after that date you could call up the company and ask -- they are very responsive. -
I use google also. Just type in the google search bar--- site:www.chapala.com search term This usually works better than the built in search functions on most sites

Cruz Roja Phone # & Where to find Emergency Oxygen?
Cronopio replied to Karina G's topic in Ajijic/Chapala/Guadalajara
Oxireyes, in Riberas, delivers medical oxygen 24/7. 33 3104 5218. The way it works is you can rent a tank from them (the big 5 foot tall tanks) for 5,000 pesos, I think. When it gets low, you call them and they´ll come and switch it out for a full one. Refills cost 1,500 pesos. They will also fill your own tank if you have it, but it might take half a day before you get it back if they do the pickup/delivery. You could also take your tank to their place in Riberas to get filled. You can also rent oxygen concentrators that go up to 5 L/m at Lidia Zamudio´s medical supply store (West Ajijic 376 688-3385, San Antonio 376 766-2088.) I know Lidia also used to rent out small portable O2 tanks, but they may be in limited supply since COVID. -
An Axolotl! Excellent.

and that laws criminalizing abortion are unconstitutional. From the New York Times (wasn't a paywall for me) https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/07/world/americas/mexico-supreme-court-decriminalize-abortion.html This is huge.

We had the same problem but I didn't bother trying to get a correction. Lot numbers were correct.

Possibly a typo -- manchego is one of the quesos espanoles.

I could never get the Telmex app to work (but per Natasha, I'll try capitalizing the password). But I found out that you can pay Telmex bills through the Telcell app - an app I've never had problems with. Works for me.

I used to go to Pablo's until 2 or 3 years ago, and the only reason I stopped was that he got busier and the wait time increased too much (for me). (Plus, my cars have been running fine and have only needed routine maintenance, which anyone can do.) He does good work and the prices were fair. No ripoffs or questionable replacement of parts, etc.

Pipas are water trucks

I'm looking for the phone numbers of pipas that deliver in the area -- especially to Ajijic and west. Anyone have any?

Is there a local place to re-new driver's license?
Cronopio replied to elevator's topic in Ajijic/Chapala/Guadalajara
Yes, in Chapala across the street from the Yacht Club (where the Feria de Maestros is held). You make an appointment on line.
