iLox has said that they have received 400 modem units that should be in Ajijic by week's end. I am told that the certification process for electronic goods and labels is causing major grief for all kinds of importers, like CostCo.
Hoping the units they ordered have working wifi. Two guys working for them did install fiber on my street last week so there's that.

People seem to like Trip's. He now has several outlets in Guadalajara. He is even using remote devices to alert you when your food is ready (although since people tend to sit within 15 feet of the outlet here, that hardly seems necessary. Still, a good sign that he isn't resting on his laurels).
So I gave it a third try today, since he's been open.
There is absolutely nothing about his cheeseburger to recommend. It is tasteless and boring. The 25p burger in San Antonio is better, by far, in every way. Oh, maybe one thing: really nice paper napkins.
Who sells this 25p burger? Location?

Your problem may be the private IP. Many people have had to request a public IP to stream using Ilox.

Update please on visa pictures locations. Prefer Ajijic.
I just had mine done at the new Farmacia Guadalajara so I assume all the locations do them.

Anyone with a Shaw receiver and I believe El Barco has games on.

I'm not a fan of Kodi. Addons come and go. You will spend more time deleting and adding apps than you will watching Kodi.
Apks are the way to go. On Android you should have Chrome as a browser and you can download using that browser. Here's a site with current apks. Mobdro and Tv Tap for live tv and I enjoy Cinema and Cyberflix for movies. Many tutorial videos on youtube, if you want to learn.

Were the checks from Intercam in pesos or dollars?
tia
Pesos. The exact amount for the month will be posted in Customs and Immigration forum on this board. I learned the hard way 😂

One of the kids at Steren will come over and do it for you. Just stop by the store and ask.

Let me see if I can clear up all the inaccurate info posted for this subject. Primary and of greatest importance DO NOT GET THE NUMBERS FROM THE US EMBASSY IN MEXICO OR THE CONSULATE WEBSITE IN GUADALAJARA. Lakeside is a unique situation. Usually the Friday before the second Wednesday visit the numbers are posted at the American Legion, Lake Chapala Society and on this web board under customs and immigration under title of US Consulate fees for that month. The fees for peso checks may change from month to month (Sox Fan, that is why I take the month’s figures down after they have completed that month’s visit). Until two months ago only Banamex cashier checks were accepted. The decision to accept peso or dollar cashier checks at lakeside was made to actually make it easier, especially if you have a local Mexican bank that is on the list to get a check.
Instead of writing a whole book, let me just say that the past two months non account holders have successfully been able to get checks from Intercam, Banamex and Bancomer for a fee.
My email address is posted in the latest Sox Fan posting. If you want the fees, when available via email, then email me and request same. I’ll not be monitoring this posting, so email if you have a question or want to be on next month’s distribution list.
Will do and thank you!

Maybe this will help. I looked under Immigration and Customs topic but could not find where this months (week) exchange rate was for passport checks.
Assistance:
U.S. Consulate General, Guadalajara
Within Mexico: 334-624-2102
From the United States: 1-844-528-6611
ACSGDL@state.gov
The article I started above also said if you want the peso fees for the month your paperwork is presented to the consulate, send an email to pifernr@gmail.com who is the consulate volunteer representative at lakeside.
I'm just going to call them the day before. Heaven forbid I overpay 20 pesos next time. Thanks for this.

As far as the amount goes, every month they always publish the how much it is for that month.
This would be awesome if I could find it. Link?

Just an update from today's passport renewal experience.
a) I got my check on Monday at the current exchange rate and was turned down by the Consulate because my check was 20 pesos too much and not today's exchange rate.
b) Went to two of the banks listed (HSBC and the one on Ajijic plaza) and was turned away because I did not have an account with them and was told I would have to open an account for them to make the check.
Just a heads up.

This modem designed for the supposed faster speeds coming soon?
-
I responded in your other post but I'll do it here as well. It's hard to find a good review of this product. I'd steer clear and go with a tried and true like TPLink or Netgear.
-
Doesn't seem to get the best reviews. Only 2.5 stars on Amazon. Probably do a lot better w/ TPLink or Netgear.
-
I'll be ecstatic when one of these providers figure out that the people in Riberas would like high speed internet as well.

This sounds as if it requires firestick or some such other device using a remote control. Is this correct? I presently use a laptop only as my device and connect to TV via HDMI. I use the mouse to select shows. Can this software be used in this fashion?
I have Area 51 and Prime Media which I watch using Amazon Firetv. I do watch Area 51 iptv on my laptop some. For my laptop, I use Kodi. Your iptv provider should provide you with a m3u playlist url and an epg url. Here's a video how to add your iptv to Kodi.

SoxFan; I think you need to contact Ilox and have them give you a public IP address rather than the private IP address they assign at setup.
Contact "noc@mail.ilox.mx".
Curious if anyone has lost any speed or performance from going with the public IP?
-
Tried my iptv on Ilox and it was a no go. I believe you have to contact Ilox and have them do something for you. Not sure if there will be a loss of speed if/when they do their thing?
My iptv works fine on Telmex. I'm getting 9 to 10 Mbps.
-
Be awesome if one of these companies would notice people not living in Ajijic like high speed internet as well.

I am a happy Area-51 customer. I mainly use it for the SEC Network and boxing ppvs. Iptv is great as long as your net has the juice. I live in Riberas and Telmex is pretty consistent for me.
Here is a nice site with multiple iptv providers all in one place. Set up is rather easy. There are many youtube videos with reviews and how to install. Takes 10 minutes tops.
-
The top secrecy and lack of advertising should bring in the customers.
-
Here is a nice list of iptv services with links to the apps. Just do a little youtubing and figure out which one is right for you. I know this isn't exactly legal but you're already in the gray area if you're having to resort to a VPN or Shaw satellite for USA content.
Anyone have the new Telmex fiber optic internet?

So this is available in Riberas?
