Candlelight 2 for 1 Dinners @ La Mision
PORTIMOM replied to La Mision's topic in Lakeside Restaurant/Bistro Happenings
Is the candlelight 2 for 1 menu a special menu for the 5-9 dinner or the regular menu? If a special menu, does it change each Friday? Are reservations required for this special, or can one drop-in? -
We live in a gated community, but somehow a very thin/bones showing female dog entered. It is quite obvious that she needs to go to the vet to be treated for all and spayed. He would probably hold onto her for only a couple of days. I cannot bring this dog in with my dogs, for we have gotten past health issues, and this is not a pooch that you should expose to other dogs AT THIS STAGE. Otherwise, she is sweet timid and craving comforting, and a safe recovery while putting weight on for a week. I will foot the bill if so. Can anyone house this dog while she recovers from being spayed, and help her (with my providing food) to put a bit of weight and h bones?

2017 TRANSPORT SERVICE TO/FROM BORDER?
PORTIMOM replied to PORTIMOM's topic in Ajijic/Chapala/Guadalajara
Thank you for these leads... appreciated! -
Which services will still take you to and from the Laredo Border? Miramontes & Brothers is no longer providing this service. When we moved here 3 years ago, the brothers met us with a van. All was a piece of cake for bringing us and our dogs here, where we purchased a vehicle once we arrived. I have friends who would like to do the same. Who is still doing this? Thank you!

Another vote or Miramontes. Surprised to hear of no shows/lates. Good to know though, for I will alway reconfirm the night before from here on in.

The Wild Salmon from Canada is excellent. We purchase from Costalegre Fish Market every Wednesday. Never disappointed. Service is excellent as well.

I agree with that. Seems like an opportunist $ situation if the crossing guard is leaving his post and people are left to navigate traffic in crossing. I know of quite a few people (elsewhere Lake Chapala) that demanded tickets, and were simply let go without receiving the ticket.. shrugs. One even told the police to tow away his car (as threatened, if he didn't pay up pesos) only to be let go, after saying take the car! Still no answers (and doubtful there will be), just lots of assumptions as usual, regarding what the stop was related to. I saw a few gringos and they did have seat belts/hands on wheel/not on phone. Most of the gringos I know have up to date info (stickers etc). Only on here would you see two pages of nada over my stating location of ticket stop.

Netflix DVDs delivered to TX forwarding address?

Is there a lending group for DVDs in this area, other than LCS? -
Netflix DVDs delivered to TX forwarding address?
PORTIMOM replied to PORTIMOM's topic in Ajijic/Chapala/Guadalajara
The items which are not available on regular NETFLIX (non-dvd) are those which are out of range due to geographical location (ex: Kettering Incident) and/or not available for streaming (Example of this is Outlander season 2) Does a Roku box get around those obstacles? -
Netflix DVDs delivered to TX forwarding address?
PORTIMOM replied to PORTIMOM's topic in Ajijic/Chapala/Guadalajara
FYI: I went to HandyMail and they said that the smaller envelopes from NETFLIX which come in with a DVD are considered acceptable mail. It is a cd in a box which is not permitted. We had DVD subscription from Netflix in the states and those CD's were simply placed in an envelope. -
Q: Has anyone who has a US Netflix account, added the DVD component below to their service, delivered to their Texas, Laredo mail forwarding address? If so, how did that work out for you? Which mail forwarding service did you use? (For those who are not familiar with this service; A DVD arrives in thin envelope) Complete Your Netflix Experience with DVDs Over 93,000 Movies, Premium TV Shows, and New Releases to your Mailbox

Its about 40-50 miles SE of LC/Ajijic. Not really something that affects the west end, but could pose a problem for that little village. This is a statement from an article: Residents have been advised there is no danger although soldiers have been deployed to the field to seal it from public access.

Most of us knew the condition of street, customs, people, and animals (loose cows, horses, dogs)... Thus accepting all the above as a charm of this area. What I have heard most is surprise of theft/crime, due to lack of surveillance. Expat presence of course brings pros/cons to this area. One pro for residents is a boon to the economy. Maybe some of that could be spent on surveillance in the form of street security cameras. Footage to back up whom was near a property or crime site, following the report of an incident would be most valuable and a deterrent.

Good waffles are a rarity. Had a great one at -Hole in One- on Mother's Day... found out they imported those (locally). It was quite amazing. Return to do a Sunday brunch breakfast only to end up with what looked like Eggo Waffles delivered to the table, after ordering what was said to be Belgium Waffles. It's a shame they do not bring in the other waffles for their Sunday Brunch Menu. Turn the page, We enjoyed the waffles at Mina la Antigua. Ordered:1 Mango (Tenerfe) and 1 KahlĂșa nut (Valladolid) waffle, both were good, but preferred the Mango one. You may order your waffle crispy or soft on the inside. We will try the crispy next time. The entire menu is in Spanish. They do provide a translation sheet. Pasted below you will find the Crepes Dulces menu and a sampling of (1/3 of the waffles offered):
