  1. Evidently, James Freeman is not longer here. We have his cell number, however, it goes right to voice mail, so he must no longer be using that number. If anyone has any contact information, we'd appreciate your passing it on.
  2. Anybody have any 15, 20 and 25 lb weights they are not using?
  3. Ferret, Oh my gosh! You can verify what I write here. I test every egg before I eat. However, it is the opposite of what you said. It it sinks, it is edible. If it floats is should not be eaten. When the egg is fresh in drops to the bottom of the water. As it ages. it goes from being on its side in the water and turns upwards, then eventually floats to the top. Cut and pasted from the internet: Place the egg in a bowl of water. If the egg lays on its side at the bottom, it is still quite fresh. If the egg stands upright on the bottom, it is still fine to eat, but should be eaten very soon, or hard-boiled. If the egg floats to the top, it's past its prime, and not good for eating.Mar 30, 2015
  4. Interesting. I just took one of ours to two different vets for the same issue. Her problem may be food allergies as there were no signs of bites. I have purchased the special food for a dog with skin problems and there is improvement after just two or three days.
  5. I do agree renting first is essential. What you want when you first get here has a high probability of changing. Where we wanted to live at first would not have been a good choice. When you live here a while, you see what your activities are going to be and where and you learn the different areas. A lot of information is obtained by acquaintances you will meet. They will give you useful information. Nonetheless, there is criticism and benefit to all locations. I used to think Ajijic was great. Now I definitely would not want to be there due to noise and crowding and the streets are hard to walk in. I used to think Riberas was too far from everything. We ended up renting there and it turned out to be very convenient to everything. Now we are in Chapala Haciendas and like it for the quiet more country like surroundings. I used to think it was also far from everything. I have changed my mind. It is eight minutes to Soriana and shopping in Chapala. There is also the Libramiento which is an efficient ride to Walmart and the shops in that area. I did think Vista del Lago was a bit too far. On that, I have not changed my mind. It's not so far, but really inconvenient when you run out of something and not well lighted in the evening. By the way it is all one Chapala Haciendas. The numbers only represent the entrance numbers.
  6. Well, yes, we are upset. It came and it is only a set of covers. Hopefully, can be returned.
  7. I don't know what thieves think or how they get over electric fences. I suppose power can be cut......
  8. I have no theory. I am just passing along information I obtained from thieves. Each person makes his/her own decisions based on their comfort zone.
  9. Well then you will like it. Horses, goats and sheep in our area. We have a great breeze when people in Riberas are further down and homes hotter. We also have better water. Riberas has the worse water in the area. If you are buying, no matter where you are, plan on having several security features. One thing I want to mention. Thieves like high walls because, once they are in, they do what they want without being seen. Have watched videos of former thieves and they like homes with lots of concealment.
  10. Looking at the map, Pharr really is less of drive from Houston, so we will take that route. Hopefully, find some good hotel on the route.
  11. I have not crossed the border back from the US into Mexico in quite some time. As I am planning a trip, and information changes, I'd appreciate some feed back on safety and anything that could help me decide which border entry point to pick. I will be coming back from Houston, so Pharr is definitely closer. If I opt for to cross at Pharr, I will need two things: A secure place for me to spend the night on the Texas side before crossing over the next morning. There will no pets, so that is not a consideration. Does not have to be in Pharr. Could be within 30 minutes or so from there and the same is needed on the Mexico side for the person waiting for me. If I opt to enter through Laredo, I know a good hotel there so no problem on the US side, however, I don't know where one would stay on the Mexico side. It can be a thirty minute ride or so away from Laredo into Mexico.
  12. I cringe when someone says these types of things are free. They are not free! If they were the doctors would be volunteers; the drug companies would give a way medications, the labs and everyone associated would all donate their time and products. Our taxes PAY for all of it, so the better way to describe it is "included". This word free is deceptive.
  13. There site was awful last time I used it, so I agree. Are you suggesting I can get info on their flights on Expedia?
  14. We live in CH and like it. There is a right spot for everyone; some like city life; some like a country feel. We like the country feel, plenty of nature around us, most neighbors nice people. Around the holidays, one resident has a party for everyone. All I can say is, we've been more successful at meeting others here than other places with all the high walls. We lived in Riberas for more than two years and never were able to really connect with the neighbors. If you have a horse, it's a good place. Safety...well things happen everywhere, so no one can tell you where it's safe. If we could predict crime, we would and what a world that would be. Things have happened here as in other places. Develop good safe habits and be cognizant of your surroundings. Many of your neighbors will probably have pools and if you make friends, you may be invited to use the pool. If you choose this place as your home, send me a PM and we'll be happy to meet you.
  15. Quite right. Just ordered from that source, so thank you Geeser.
  16. I agree. Most of us can figure out to make phone calls. There is always a reason for asking someone who has actually used the services. I get frustrated with those types of replies also.
  17. We are looking to purchase for a LG K-10 and up cell phone. If someone has one they want to sell and no longer using, please PM me.
  18. Thank you. I used to fly Volaris and learned to hate it, but will consider it again as it will only be one way and I seldom need to go to the US.
  19. Thank you to those who responded to my request. I did visit with Dr. Liana and my impression of her was very positive.
  20. I want to get to Houston sometime in October or November. The cost of a one way flight is exorbitant and I don't drive it. If anyone is interested in sharing a ride and expenses, please PM me. Thanks.
  21. Doctors can sell things also (supplements, books, any health related items).
  22. Looking for referral to a Gynocologist. I have been to Dr. Elodia who is very good, however, I need a second opinion. I called Quality Care and they charge 800 pesos, definitely a gringo price. Anyone have other recommendations?
  23. All has been turned over to his authorized representative.
  24. Someone has turned over to us a lost wallet. The owner is Steven Noll. Through some investigating, we have learned that he is currently in the US. If someone knows him and would have US contact information, please e-mail me right away. I think time is of the essence as the wallet has his residency card and he will need this into enter Mexico without loss of status.
