  1. a ew hundred pesos to the mailman on mailmans day works miracles. Done it for years and very happy with deliveries.
  2. We have the usual two canister filters with an UV light plus water softener. For our drinking water, we have osmosis. I was told to change the canister filters on the osmosis unit every three months and the osmosis filter every six months. It seems to me that would vary with usage. How does one really know when to change the parts. They are not cheap?
  3. during a discussion of a friend's bad experience with another friend who is a dentist. He said HCPs have to be very careful in Mexico because their profession falls under the criminal laws. He said their mistakes make them criminally liable.
  4. El Gordo has no authority in this area and if he stops anyone,he can't do anything. Call the police, english 3315711327
  5. shovels with squared ends and heavy duty iron rakes.
  6. They have been fighting forest fires for a week. Please bring energy/electrolyte drinks to firehouse on Libramiento .or Ajijic delegation (the south west corner of the Ajijic plaza)
  7. Since two of your documents are out of date, if you are stopped in jalisco your car may be impounded.
  8. Any doctor who is Board certified will be given privileges at SAH.
  9. We have a new local commandante of the state transitos. Gordo is GONE thanks to the good people who wrote letters confirming extortion. Hector is planning a town Hall to introduce the commandante.
  10. when a good Samaritan declines a reward, for them it diminishes the deed, I offer ice cream money for their kids. It always works.
  11. the San Antonio hospital will be having dialysis, June? The Chapala municipality is also working on a clinic, no date as of yet.
  12. Allowing dogs into restaurants is widely practiced in Europe. Here, I have seen people with well behaved dogs at outside seating and have no problem with it. Live and let live. There are some people I wouldn't allow into a restaurant if able.
  13. When I log on after I put in my ID and password, they ask me to verify my identity by entering a verification code (assumedly because the VPN shows a different IP address). The code used to be sent by 3 alternatives text, phone or email. They have now eliminated the email option. Since their system doesn't accept an international phone #, I can't access any of my accounts?
  14. I am a MFA multiple fixed addresses,SC, FL and MX. They go nuts with contacts from the MX address.
  15. If you use a vpn the address changes daily. Thus , at least for me, they ask for a verification code which until recently they allowed three methods of contact text, call or email. They have now eliminated the email code verification option.
  16. Capital One 360 has eliminated the verification code by email, allowing text or phone only. This effectively locks anyone with a vpn or out of the country from accessing their accounts. Has anyone found a work around?
  17. had this once--turned out to be wet/ dew soaked wires.
  18. I am so happy to read of those who have persevered and got their citizenship. I believe that they do try to make you jump through as many hoops as possible. But, in the end they look kindly on those who show their love of mexico. Please get registered to vote!!!! They respect those who vote.
  19. I legalized two British made, US plated classic cars in Laredo through 3 Brothers brokers.. The cost was based on the kelly blue Book value plus their fees. I then took the cars to Guadalajara DMV where the cars were inspected and I applied for Jalisco title and plates.
  20. the "antiques' guy by the tuesday market has had stuff for a year without sales. FYI
  21. Chapala has managed to create rules to deny you the senior citizen discount whether or not you are mexican. If your house is over a certain size no discount. So in all likelihood you wouldn't get it no matter what cards you have. BTW more than half the mexican pop. works in the underground economy in order to NOT pay taxes. They are fiercely patriotic, but, see no benefit in paying taxes that will be absconded with by our fine politicos.
  22. FYI waiters work at multiple restaurants and remember who tips and who doesn't.
  23. Here you can do anything you want----until. One poster mentioned an accident involving a golf cart and injuries to pedestrians. Another poster mentioned taxi drivers complaining, which I completely believe would happen here too. Something has happened; now we have to pay the price. Paying off El Gordo only encourages him and makes it worse for everyone. If he stops you video him and take it to the Commandante. He will at least get transferred. I think golf carts are perfect for the village. If Pueblo Magico ever goes through, perhaps an exemption could be made for below the carretera as an ecological measure?
