  2. They have been fighting forest fires for a week. Please bring energy/electrolyte drinks to firehouse on Libramiento .or Ajijic delegation (the south west corner of the Ajijic plaza)
  3. Since two of your documents are out of date, if you are stopped in jalisco your car may be impounded.
  4. Any doctor who is Board certified will be given privileges at SAH.
  5. We have a new local commandante of the state transitos. Gordo is GONE thanks to the good people who wrote letters confirming extortion. Hector is planning a town Hall to introduce the commandante.
  6. when a good Samaritan declines a reward, for them it diminishes the deed, I offer ice cream money for their kids. It always works.
  7. the San Antonio hospital will be having dialysis, June? The Chapala municipality is also working on a clinic, no date as of yet.
  8. Mr. Vegas told me two weeks for my job . It took 4 months including threats from the Delegado and municipal judge.
  9. Juan put clorox in the skatepark bowl while it was the only thing he could do. The plan to fill it in and put another skateboard activity waits on Chapala to do. Some of the art is aspiring artists and has been highly regarded. I've talked to Hector about speaking to the gangs about not defacing the art. Likely this is Guads. I don't know the solution other than to ask the local gangs to police it and protect local art. I've mentioned the 6 gallons of grey paint to juan , but, he has been too busy to get to it, but he will. He is trying to get the Transitos to remove the last of the junk cars before Easter.
  10. Lake reporter claims Ajijic delegado too busy campaining to fix skate park. The truth is Juan Ramon had to resign his position in order to be able to run for his position. Any action on his part during the 4 day campaign would be seen as illegal campaigning . Juan Ramon several months ago asked Chapala to fill in the skatepark bowl and cement over it and put another type skate trick for the kids. He is totally dependent on Chapala to get the job done. And as for the junk cars, he has sent letters to offenders and gone door to door to get them voluntarily removed. To get them towed, he has to rely on Transito officers to get it done.
  11. I doubt the villagers in Ajijic will ever give up the cobblestones. They believe the moisture evaporating through the stones during the hot season cools the village (like a swamp cooler). there have been major battles , demonstrations, etc over this. I'd like to see pavers set in sand which would do the same job and be a lot less painful to walk on. It has worked beautifully for the Tianguis, but, you wouldn't believe what I had to do to get that done.
  12. I'll give Juan the list. The other group making collections hasn't contacted anyone i know of to actually do any work?
  13. the earliest repairs were done with sand as that was all Juan could get. since he has been doing whole streets he has been using rock and dolomite which approximates cement. As far as "insisting with mexican gov" good luck. I doubt he will do individual potholes as he is trying to do whole streets and that would divert his workers. I'll give him the info and I am sure he will try to do the streets mentioned. galiana was one of the first streets done.
  14. You may have noticed that the Ajijic potholes are being filled. Juan Ramon is going street by street doing the worst first. If you know of a street that is in worse shape, please advise and I'll have him look at it and put it in his list. He is using the dolomite material that hardens like cement.
  15. did he have the red truck we use for green trash. Could have been a scammer. The guys on the truck are long term village employees and I've never heard a complaint about them.
  16. Last week a bus hit a moto with Father, mother and 7? year old child in Tlamulco. Both parents died and the child has a broken arm. The family lived in Chula Vista. Thus the crackdown. This from the rock solid source of my barber.
  17. Allowing dogs into restaurants is widely practiced in Europe. Here, I have seen people with well behaved dogs at outside seating and have no problem with it. Live and let live. There are some people I wouldn't allow into a restaurant if able.
  18. thanks to all who have helped and will help!
  19. When did you set up Chapala's program?
  20. Carol Curtis and Thomas Thompson shared a post. Ajijic4meLike Page Yesterday at 8:21 AM ยท We, the Ajijic Citizens Recycle Committee, need your help! Last weekend we were notified that we had to vacate the Centro de Acopio in El Bajio (the big trash dump), so we quickly proceeded to round up as much cardboard as we could to sell and started emptying out one of the 2 rooms at the building so that the Mexican Army could move in .. that location has served as their 'barracks' in past years during Easter season. After 2 hectic days of cleaning we were told they had found another location .. but getting the space even near "usable" showed us that with manpower we could utilize the area much more efficiently. When we took over the program as a citizens committee in December of 2018 the problem of trash contamination was already severe and we could never get ahead of it since the municipal government did not have the $$ to send us workers, the hit and miss efforts by them to help us was not enough. Now, thanks to our early sales of materials that we have collected we have enough money to hire 2 workers for 2 months AND start clearing out trash and begin organizing with the dream of making this a functional center to receive and sort materials. So we are organizing a massive 'volunteer' effort for Saturday April 6 (9am to 2pm) to sort what materials we have, move them into the cleared space in the bodega and hopefully finally make some progress in turning the 'dump' into a program! There is an unbelievable amount of unsorted plastic and huge deposits of cardboard scattered all over the land behind the warehouse building. We could use all the help we can muster that day sorting materials and moving them inside. Also we need help spreading the word to friends and neighbors to come help or send their gardener that one day to get the job done. After we have cleared the mountain of unsorted materials behind the warehouse we plan to call in the heavy equipment (that will cost $$) to scoop out the pile of 'trash in front', and tear down the wall that is blocking access to the east side of the building so that our truck can enter the property there and no longer leave materials outside in the highway access area. Then, when money permits, we want to place large recycle containers in front with highway access for the public to leave their donations in a "more sightly manner" .. If you cannot help physically and have no one to send that day, you could help by sending fruit, sandwiches, water, or the like, to keep the volunteers "fully charged" that day. Those who come to help should bring gloves and a hat.. Please call me at 3314 97 3620 or email us at reciclajeajijic@gmail.com to coordinate efforts and make this a success. This is a pilot program, let's show the Chapala government what Ajijic can do!! Tom Thompson and the entire committee of Citizen Volunteers!
  21. When I log on after I put in my ID and password, they ask me to verify my identity by entering a verification code (assumedly because the VPN shows a different IP address). The code used to be sent by 3 alternatives text, phone or email. They have now eliminated the email option. Since their system doesn't accept an international phone #, I can't access any of my accounts?
  22. I am a MFA multiple fixed addresses,SC, FL and MX. They go nuts with contacts from the MX address.
  23. If you use a vpn the address changes daily. Thus , at least for me, they ask for a verification code which until recently they allowed three methods of contact text, call or email. They have now eliminated the email code verification option.
