  1. Dr. Santiago, it is a shame that you have no connections in the lakeside medical community and are forced like the rest of us to speculate in rumor and gossip on local web boards. It’s sad.
  2. Sorry, need further clarification. Are you talking about your planned hospital on the liberamento or the planned hospital in Riberas? If you mean the one in Riberas is now rumored to becoming only store fronts, how is your construction on the liberamento coming along? Still going to be a hospital and what is planned completion date? Thank you again.
  3. Thanks WideSky. I noticed that later. However, since Dr. Santiago did answer the question addressed to him in the confusion with that photo it is as good a time as any for him to update us on his project. He might even start a new thread to help us keep it all straight.
  4. Dr. Santiago, sorry but a picture of a picture of the planned building does not tell us anything. Please tell us if construction is still ongoing and how close is it to completion? Thank you.
  5. Is there still a lineup there by 9:45 and a stampede to favored vendors when the doors open? If it is still that way it is good for newcomers to be aware of it. I was traumatized the first time I went. I was not expecting the Black Friday At Walmart atmosphere. 😁
  6. I am confused. Did the OP use the Uber app to get a driver from the airport to SJC? If not, did the OP just flag down a driver by the airport? By whom were they given an “estimate” of 337 pesos to SJC if Uber does not service the lakeside area? I have never heard of Uber giving an estimate. I thought the appeal was you call, are told the fare, pay it on line, and your driver picks you up knowing where you are going and that fee has been paid. How do you go about “trying to find” a driver who will violate Uber agreements and drive them from the airport to SJC for less money than the regulated airport taxi service? Sounds cumbersome and risky.
  7. I just did it in June. It is a long, enclosed sky bridge so it is like walking through an airport. There are elevators and escalators for changing levels. Also, baggage carts and wheel chairs are available for you. You need to switch the carts and wheelchairs when you cross “the border.” There are people to help all along the way. I spent less than half the money from flying into San Diego. It was also much easier for my daughter to pick me up and drop me off there.
  8. W“By the way (to all), I'm no longer allowed to "like" posts. I'm not sure why, but I got to a certain number of likes and now the system is telling me I can't do more. Weird!“ This system allows only so many reactions per day. You will again be able to do so tomorrow. I do not know how many you are allowed or how long you are blocked (maybe 12 or 24 hours?).
  9. The OP asked where s/he could buy bedding plants, not seeds. The nursery just as you enter Jocotepec has a great variety of beautiful herbs. It is across the road from the PeMex station as you enter town. It is at the weird intersection where you go to the malecon. The nursery has a chain link fence around it and they have plants out in front. Can’t miss it. I was impressed by the selection and health of the plants.
  10. If you do decide to fire these people, before hiring new workers please sit down with your husband and get clear on what your expectations and household rules are. Write it down if you have to. Or agree that only one of you will interface with your employees and the other will butt out. Otherwise you will be facing similar problems down the road.
  11. CG, why confuse some people with facts, studies (one from Harvard University), and reports when their minds are already made up? Some people believe what they have decided to believe and will never change their minds.
  12. I am not a local Mexican family nor do I live in an impoverished village. I am also not concerned with destroying the entire Mexican economy by paying the young woman who cleans my house what I consider to be a fair wage for what she does for me.
  13. Does the “no limit” apply only to phone calls and not to texting and internet use?
  14. Oh my, Daisy. You are taking this thread way too seriously.
  15. How funny. What does “my gay” daughter (my and gay underlined twice yet) have to do with illegally parking your vehicle? I like the “disabled American vet” and “can not walk far” excuse added just in case my gay daughter isn’t excuse enough.
  16. “And the price quoted to get license and tags, at $6,000, for Mexico state... wow. Fuggeddaboudit.” It was only a matter of time. On local expat Facebook page a proud golf cart owner proclaimed that all cart owners here can pay a facilitator 6000 pesos and get Mexico plates for their golf carts. She did it. Asked if they were legal for Jalisco residents and would they be recognized by local police she said they had an agreement with the police commander. Here we go again!
  17. When you get get pulled over in your golf cart do please tell the officer there are no laws against what you are doing. I am sure he will appreciate the lesson from you. SYSY, please re-read your posts. Do you detect perhaps a teensy bit of resentment against car drivers?
  18. All this commentary is interesting but irrelevant. It is not a handful of foreigners on a web board who are making the rules for golf carts on public roads. The Mexican authorities are making and enforcing laws in their communities. So explain and justify all you want. It will change nothing.
  19. Posted on TOB in a golf cart thread: "One of my neighbors had her unlicensed cart confiscated for driving wrong way on city Street in Ajijic" So, some cart owners not only believe they need not be licensed and insured but also believe traffic laws do not apply to them.
  20. Thanks Gringal! You ask a good question. The post was a lot of overheated rhetoric until the last sentence which veered over to perfect projection. No one could be more self-righteous, self-centered, and self-serving than the writer of the diatribe that was more trolling than posting.
  21. Years ago a friend would buy a box (or maybe a bag) of powdered buttermilk at Superlake. She would reconstitute whatever amount she needed. It was much cheaper than buying the buttermilk as needed. Don't know if they still sell it or where it might be located. Perhaps Walmart might have it?
  22. Thanks for the review Duckie. It is good to know that I can still depend on Benno's for help with my aging iPad.
  23. I knew it was a joke but since Nedro is not known for his sense of humor it probably was not a good idea.
  24. Thank you sm1mx. You are correct. Valerie is well known. In addition to seeing clients one-on-one, she facilitates several support groups for care givers, people with life-threatening illnesses, and a bereavement group. She is a valuable community resource in many ways.
  25. I recommend Valerie Rhoda in Ajijic. Don't have her phone number handy but her email is vhrhoda at gmail.
