    Hey Xena

No reason to be a smart ###. I would of liked something like " got your email and if you need help please contact me ".

Maybe that's to complicated for you to understand and if you can't answer a question without being a jerk then don't answer.

Read the rules of the board.

As I said, best of luck.

I did send Spencer an email back in March with what had happened with the body shop saying that I would possibly need his help. No response at all. I used them to do all my temporary residence permit and Adunana in January but I guess that doesn't mean anything.

    Any other suggestions ?

If all you said was you would “possibly” need his help what reply did you expect? Anyway, there are other attorneys you may ask. Or, you can just keep asking strangers on sites like this until you hear an answer you like. It might even be correct. Best of luck.

I wasn't planning on getting a new car I had to get a new car.

A body shop in Riberas that was repairing a dent set my car on fire when grinding. It took from March 10th to May 12th before I could leave Lakeside. I had to threaten with going to the Presidente of Chapala before the shop would do anything. They wanted me to pay half.

When I got back to Canada I had a couple of electrical problems and when I took the cowling off it was not a new wiring harness but spliced together and extra wires loose. They said they put in a new wiring harness. I could not check before I left because I couldn't afford any further delays or my work status at home would of been lost.

All 3 mechanics I have been to all said to get rid of the car.

    What to do 😞

If I understand correctly, you did not have your TIP removed when exiting Mexico. Now you want to return to Mexico with a different car. There may be a way to do this but you need legal advice before showing up at the border with your new car.  Talk with Spencer or another attorney down here to find out the best way to proceed.

Virus and bacteria are two different things, something the video seems to downplay.  ....

    In Medio Stat Virtus

"Virtue is an acquired voluntary disposition that consists of a middle ground between two bad extremes, one by excess and the other by default", Aristotle, 384 - 322.

First you do not want a comic to offer medical commentary and now you are criticizing Maher because he did not instruct us on the difference between virus and bacteria? I’m confused.

I will repeat, all he tried to do was lessen fear and hysteria. But, do not let anyone deter you. Please do cower behind closed doors for the rest of your life if that is what it takes for you to feel safe.

A prudent decision, that's why I listen to the specialists.

By the way, just rewatched the video. Maher did not offer medical advice. He said nothing controversial or in opposition to what specialists have said. There are people terrified to leave their homes, making themselves crazy with fear. He was talking about going for a walk in the fresh air not suggesting people don’t wear masks and go around licking door knobs.

Comedians are not the people I listen to for medical information.  However who am I to determine what others do with their lives; as long it does not impact mine?

Folks rambling on a web board are not people I listen to for medical advice either, but here we are.

Xena, are you not slightly overestimating the importance of an opinion of a modest little Belgian😉....especially on a national level.....a country as big as the whole of Europe....  perspective plse.

I wont put it on my Twitter account with millions of followers.

If I had an older grandfather here ( or even 5 grandfathers..... I wish... ),  I would give him the same advice.  Where is the difference?

REALLY not expecting a rush on the sometimes expensive breathing material now.

I was (sort of) joking. Given the fear and greed of some and the propensity for stores here to not keep a large inventory of anything I had visions of 02 bottles becoming the new toilet paper.  I believe I have a lower opinion of humans than you do. I always expect the worst from us as a species. So, I was mostly kidding.

  8. I have had desserts where Marias and Canelitas were used for crust and crumbles. They were not the same but still delicious. I never asked for recipes so I can not tell you what (if any) adjustments they made. Hopefully someone can answer that part for you.

I seriously doubt anyone here has a maid, cleaning person yes but not maid. I talked to a person back where I lived and they were so impressed that people have maids.  I had to bring her up to date and tell her it is a cleaning persons not maid.

Maybe you should explain that to these people. “Merry Maids is an international franchisor which sells and supports residential cleaning services franchises throughout the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Merry Maids was founded in 1979, and joined with ServiceMaster in 1988. In 2007, the company had over 8,000 employees.” Wikipedia

Are you able to give more info as I have been unable to find Madero on any map, even using google maps. If not, they have lost a customer today as I was going to drive into Chapala just for that.

(Francisco) Madero is the main street in Chapala. When you drive in on Hildago and come to the intersection where the fountain is, where the municipal building is and the church — that is Madero. The restaurant is north of the church on that side of the street.

Let me give the haters something to get fired up about this morning . We have a lot of good food lakeside , some definitely poor food and even a little really good food .I don't understand why some people have to be so vicious when reviewing a dining experience . Min Wah is a perfect example .I have lived here for nearly 10 years and have eaten at Min Wah many many times during that period and got ONE less than enjoyable meal .Am I the luckiest guy lakeside , did I win the food lottery , I think not . My point is some people use the term inedible , terrible , worst I ever ate etc .Really . The only inedible meal I've had here was a pizza that the meat had gone bad .If you eat somewhere and don't like it why not just say so instead of trying to ruin a business . A simple , I didn't care for it should do and let people try it and decide for themselves . If your post turns people away instead of just giving information you are effecting the lives of the owners and employees and their family . If you don't like a place just don't go , why try to poison others ? There is a well known , long established steak house here that many diners love . My wife and I can't seem to get a decent steak there so we just don't go . I don't try to deter anyone else just because I don't care for it  . OK fire away if you feel the need . You know who you are and I'm sure you'll try to justify your nasty reviews before getting off on something completely off topic and attacking your fellow posters .

The OP started this thread because the last one got highjacked.  So you come along and attempt to take this one off track too. Instead of talking about positive experiences at Min Wha let’s all start talking about vicious reviewers. You even begin your post by admitting you are giving people something to get fired up about and end with goading them. The irony is you charging people with taking a thread off topic and attacking other posters while doing exactly the same thing. Just start your own thread about vicious restaurant reviewers and leave this one alone.

No, I was not implying that the latest cases fee not real and I have no idea why you would suggest I were. You need to go back and repeat Mind Reading 101.

The case I was referring to was reported several weeks ago.

And, I was not even referring to your post or the latest cases but to Floradude’s (which I quoted in my post) which is the case reported weeks ago. You need to go back and repeat Reading Comprehension.

Whatever happened to the "confirmed" case of the doctor here, as well as the American lady that she contracted the virus from?

    Why are they never mentioned?

The American woman was transported to the states. She is no longer here so why would she continue to be mentioned? As for the doctor, she completely recovered from whatever she had so, again, what is there to “mention”?

You have just experienced "stupid speak". Now imagine, if you will, ten years of it, everyday, all day.

Also imagine if you will that you have an option to Ignore the stupid speak but continue to read and engage with it for 10 years, everyday, all day while bitterly complaining about it.

If you are using a cloth reusable face mask this might be of interest:

You wash your hands more than you wash your face mask—and new research shows maybe that's not such a good thing. "A new report from an Italian health authority explains that SARS-CoV-2"—that's the coronavirus—"can survive on the interior of face masks for as long as 4 days, which is an important reminder that masks have to be handled with care, especially if you're handling them for a loved one who is infected,"

Yes, you read that right: 4 days on the interior.

"The ISS says that SARS-CoV-2 particles have been detected on the interior side of the mask as long as 4 days after a mask was worn, and up to 7 days on the exterior," continues the website, quoting a report from HuffPost Italy. "A separate study a few weeks ago also explained that the novel coronavirus can survive up to 7 days on the surface of face masks."

Although the CDC recently said the transmission of COVID-19 on surfaces is unlikely, the agency added that there was still more research to do and urged you to clean surfaces you touch—including your mask—to protect yourself and others from catching the virus.

How to Clean Your Face Mask

The CDC offers comprehensive advice about how to keep your face mask germ free:

    "Washing Machine

You can include your face covering with your regular laundry.

Use regular laundry detergent and the warmest appropriate water setting for the cloth used to make the face covering.

    Washing by Hand

Prepare a bleach solution by mixing:

5 tablespoons (1/3rd cup) household bleach per gallon of room temperature water or

4 teaspoons household bleach per quart of room temperature water

Check the label to see if your bleach is intended for disinfection. Some bleach products, such as those designed for safe use on colored clothing, may not be suitable for disinfection. Ensure the bleach product is not past its expiration date. Never mix household bleach with ammonia or any other cleanser.

Soak the face covering in the bleach solution for 5 minutes.

Rinse thoroughly with cool or room temperature water.

Make sure to completely dry cloth face covering after washing.

Since your OP carried the  recommendation, I wrongly assumed you got the information from the CDC  and might know. I’m not looking it up because I have no intention of bleaching my masks. Perhaps someone who read your OP and intends to follow the recommendation might want to know the reasoning behind it.

Yes, but that does not mean that a virus is a living thing, in a biological sense.  Soaps and detergents are 'wetting agents', which do as you suggest, mechanically, and can render the virus rather harmless, by removing the structures which attach to the host's cell..

Okay, fine. The point remains that soap, water, and sunshine deal with (better?) virus. So why must masks be washed in bleach when hands are not?

  17. 13 minutes ago, mudgirl said:

If soap and water kills the virus on your hands, it doesn't make sense that it woudn't kill it on a mask. I don't understand why you'd need to use bleach.

I do not understand either. Soap and water and sun kill the virus. Wash in soap and hot water, then hang in the sun. I see no reason to use bleach. I keep seeing articles that make things more complicated (and scary) than they need to be.
