  1. Hi Eric,  the Improv. Workshops will be held at BRAVO! Theatre's new location in Riberas del Pilar.  It's on the mountain side, just west of S&S Auto.  There's a large sign/lona advertising "BRAVO!" Theatre.  The address is  441 Hidalgo, near "Have Hammers".

Hope you go and have fun.

    Enjoy,

    Val  :)

  2. LOL, good one happyjillin! I've always had a fear of speaking in public as well. Love dancing to the masses to but open my mouth for more than a smile is horrifying for me. It'll be a fun workshop for those interested. Cheers! Val
  3. The name of his company is: ERGED, he's in the Mercado de Abastos and super easy to locate. His number is: 332-166-6370, his address is: Bellota No. 1795, Local 27, Guadalajara. Tell him Val sent ya'! Cheers! Val
  4. I have had a source in GDL for years but his location is out past Plaza Patria and not very convenient. Since we have 4 large canisters, we only went once/year but now I've found a man in the Mercado de Abastos just off of Lazaro Cardenas and he's configured an adapter to work. We've had 2 of our 4 re-filled and just dropped off the other two yesterday. Happy to share his name and address with anyone who needs to get their Soda Stream canisters refilled. He charges $100 pesos for the large ones. GREAT deal, nice guy! Val
  5. Thanks Chillin, she IS the bona fide British Lady who used to live out near Joco. She's doing well post-op and scheduled now to come to her new Care home in Ajijic tomorrow mid-day. Thrilled! Many thanks to all who so kindly donated. With the help of Dr. Leon, his staff, Jorge (the GREAT P.T.) and other kind souls, she'll be up and at 'em before we know it. Can't thank everyone enough for their kindness and generosity! Huge cyber hugs! Val
  6. Thanks for your help! Happy to share a happy update. First, huge THANKS to all who have so kindly and generously made donations to help Rosemary Grayson. Thrilled to report her surgery was a complete success this afternoon and I was able to see she’s alert and feeling well in Recovery. Trusting she will continue to feel well, we hope to bring her home from Hospital Civil Viejo tomorrow late afternoon/early evening to her new Care Home in Ajijic. Once she’s feeling up to having visitors, I’ll post a note for those who wish to welcome her to Ajijic and bring good cheer. Many thanks for your help! It truly does take a village and I’m so very proud of everyone who really stepped up and is making a difference for Rosemary. Huge Hugs, Val
  7. I tried to place the GoFundMe link to help Rosemary Grayson, but got an "error". Perhaps the web board doesn't permit me to include a link in my text. If you go to www.gofundme.com and type in "Former Playboy Centerfold Breaks Hip" in the search area, it will direct you to her fund-raising page. Once there, you'll be able to read the explanation of her medical situation. If you are able and willing to assist her, please make a donation or contact me directly if you wish to donate in person with pesos. Thanks in advance to those who can assist. Cheers! Val Jones
  8. Thanks Zena, I try to be direct and honest. Like I said, I'm nothing more than a dancer but I must admit that through my exposure with Improv., I've learned valuable life lessons with sales techniques, relationship techniques and dance ad lib, LOL. Most of us are retired and interested in learning something new and different. I know John is an excellent and accepting instructor so those who are inclined, join us. Thanks, Val
  9. Perhaps the rules vary by Hospital. I've donated at at least 4-5 different GDL Hospitals and I've never had them turn me down to donate blood, regardless of my blood type and the type of the recipient in the Hospital. I'm O+ and they're always happy to see me. The trickiest part is the how many hours of fasting and when and what you ate for breakfast and dinner. Cheers, Val
  10. Just donated at Hospital Civil Viejo on Sunday. The current age limit is 65. My husband just "aged" out and sadly, can no longer donate. I encourage those who meet the rather stringent guidelines to register with Cruz Roja so you can be notified in the event of an emergency and go to the designated Hospital to make your life-saving donation. Cheers! Val Jones
  11. Promoting current Adult Tap classes, lakeside. D'Le, the lovely Maestra, has openings in 4 of her classes. Intro. to Tap (no experience)on Fridays at 12:30. Beginning Level I (limited experience)on Saturdays at 12:30. Beginning Level II (more experience)on Fridays at 11:30 and Intermediate Level I on Saturdays at 11:15. D'Le teaches these classes from her private Studio in upper La Floresta. The cost is $60 pesos/class and all proceeds go to fund the Ajijic Youth Dance Program which supports local kids who wish to participate in Tap, Ballet and Contemporary dance classes. Class fees cover the youth dancers instruction, shoes, dance wear and costumes for performances. They were recently featured in the 4th of July celebration at Monte Carlo Hotel in Chapala as well as Lip Sync. in January at the Auditorio del Lago. Tap shoes aren't required for the Intro. to Tap class but you would need Tap shoes to move forward. D'Le has a variety of "loaner" tap shoes to lend until you can get some of your own. It's a fun way to exercise your brain and body. If you're interested, please let me know and I'll share the address of D'Le's home and private Studio. Hope you'll join us!

  15. Perfect, that is exactly what I needed to know. Many thanks! Val
  16. I've donated many times in various hospitals in GDL because I fit the criteria for their rules. I mainly need to clarify the how many hours of fasting and when I've eaten breakfast, etc. I have another friend in GDL joining me tomorrow so as previous donors in other GDL hospitals, we understand the rules. It's just the how many hours of fasting but not too many hours question I mainly need to sort out. Thanks! Val
  17. Unfortunately our friend, Rosemary Grayson, is in the Hospital Civil Viejo in GDL and needs 2 donors. I'm going up tomorrow to donate but can't seem to locate the rather archaic and odd rules/requirements for donating blood there. Does anyone have the list they could post or send me? Many thanks! Val Jones
  18. Hi all you dancing fans! Announcing an addition to the dance classes we offer. Maritza Freyslinger will be teaching a basic Jazz class starting Wed. June 5th. Whether you have danced before or are not sure which is your left foot, the class will have something to offer each participant. The goal of the class is to teach people awareness of their body and how it moves through space. The other goal is simply to enjoy dancing and moving to great music. The classes will follow a set format. There will be a warmup phase that includes stretches, roll downs, pliés and more. This will be followed by time spent on isolations and then floor work which will consist of more stretching and core strengthening. Next, she'll focus on technique and basic Jazz moves. Finally we will work on choreography. So here are the details you need to know: When: Wednesdays, 12:30- 1:30 (Starting June 5th) Where: Ricardo's Dance Studio on the north side of the Carreterra 3 doors west of the lights at Juarez. Cost: 60 pesos per class or 300 for 5 classes Dress: loose comfortable clothes, jazz shoes or shoes that give your feet some support but won't prohibit your foot from pointing/flexing. Running shoes w/ thick soles don't work well. Other items: large towel or mat for floor work lots of water!!!! Come give it a try! Lots of fun, great music and wonderful teacher!
  19. We've thoroughly enjoyed our meals at Janelle's Garden in the last year. The owners are very "hands on", the service is pleasant and attentive, the food is consistently good and well priced. Just enjoyed Sunday Brunch there this past weekend. Enjoy! Val Jones
  20. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal yesterday. The appetizers are indeed large and quite tasty. Also enjoyed the T-Bone and Ribeye. I have photos but don't know how to get them posted here. We'll definitely go back. Valerie
  21. Looking forward to having lunch there today. I'll take photos and share. Valerie
  22. Yesterday afternoon, we took those large plastic containers of water and a case of Electrolytes to the station on the Libramiento, they were so grateful. I encourage others to help, if possible. I haven't heard the cause of the fire but it's frightening for the people and animals on the mountain(s) and with everything being so dry and the heat, I can only imagine how difficult it must be to put these fires out. Valerie
  23. This is horrifying, not only for the people living in and near these areas but the animals. I know our Maid and Gardener have livestock up there. They're scrambling to get up there and get their animals to safety. We all need to monitor this and help the firefighters, as listed above. Everyone, be alert and be safe. Valerie
  24. OMG!!! Such a precious, darling little fur baby! Is there any way you can send it to me in an email and I'll try to share it with my Facebook contacts? We have 3, no room for more right now but what a cutie! Hugs, Val
  25. Hi all, many thanks for your recommendations. I took photos of the meter a few days ago and again just now. Maybe it's too much peroxide from my hair coloring that has soaked into my brain, but I'm not seeing quite what is described in your responses. The meter flashes 3 different sets of numbers. The first set looks like all 000000 or all 8888888. Then, it shows 14588 and next it shows 23309. Today, it shows 14582 and then 23389. Based upon this, can someone help me understand what I'm seeing? Apparently I need some "man-spraining", LOL. Cheers, Valerie
