  1. See his post yesterday stating that the whole thing is a secret biological warfare.
  2. Agreed, but CNN is reporting it's Mexicans, unabashadly, and that can carry far too much weight.
  3. That is just a daft statement and is far too widely used by people to make themselves sound smarter than they actually are. Instead, you should be asking "why is it so important for some to believe that these Mexicans were infected?"
  4. She may be right about the workers, but that's not really the point, to me... the point is the ridiculous assumption of "cause and effect" here: that "if x then y": if they are Mexican, they must be the infectors. Even more ludicrous: "affirming the consequent" or "if p then q": "All cats die; Socrates died; therefore Socrates was a cat."
  5. Exactly. Sick workers from Mexico? One of the least infected places on earth at the moment? I hardly think so.
  6. I'm all for culling the herd. If I happen to be one of the culled, so be it. But not from conspiracy nuts. I'm frankly quite startled at some on this board for coming right out and admitting that some of their head bolts aren't screwed in properly.
  7. Would you mind telling us the make/model? I have low pressure and a small pump installed at the tinaco to make showers acceptable. But I still can use only one brand and style of showerhead, and remove the water-saving washers, and make the internal hole bigger, to get decent pressure.
  8. Yes, although I don't use hot water for laundry, so the hot water connection is disabled.
  9. Maybe not for you. But my point stands.
  10. I have had this happen on Android phones who's OS is out of date, and cannot be updated itself. The error message is generic, in that case, and really means "Can't figure out why I can't update".
  11. No. That's when all the expats go. That's what we do. Line up at INM at 9, knowing they don't open until 10 and never actually arrive until 10:30. It's bred into us. We're still taught it: hit the airport 3 hours early for an international flight. Sure, same time everyone else gets there and it means standing in line for an hour and a half. Or, arrive 90 minutes ahead of the flight and sail through. I went early last week, 9:30. Never again.
  12. I don't disagree, but to each his own, right?
  13. I don't know. As an ice trucker, I only experienced the long haul...
  14. Can we call it what is, please? LOL. It's a fridge. A mini frig is something else altogether.
  15. Bosch has always been the most recommended on this board. Mainly because of the quality and the fact that they have trained service people who come out from Guadalajara. Other brands are not so lucky, and if you do a historical search you will find lots of people... including me... begging for knowledgeable on-demand heater service personnel... with none in the offing... for most brands. Before getting this one, I did a ton of research and asking around for personal comments. I was assured by the installers that they knew exactly how to fix the CaloRex. We shall see. Or, with luck, never have to see...
  16. Because I never use a card. I only pay cash. But I do pay the 12 pesos at Oxxo for their service.
  17. No proper official suggested that. They said masks don't keep you from breathing others in; they prevent you from breathing yours out.
  18. But the CDC now does recommend them. Because if everyone is wearing one, then it's safer. Confusion reigns. I was against them at first, because all I read told me that you are only protecting others when you wear a mask, and if you are not sick, then there is not point. However, I can see the flaw in the logic. Suppose you are carrying and don't know it? I have also found that not only do I touch my face less, people stay farther away from me (at least most people do). Now, if everyone has a mask, no one has to worry about it. I saw a woman in SuperLake yesterday with no mask, on older gringa, sneeze right into a vegetable cooler. Now, do I really want to get any veg from that cooler again? Imagine how many people are doing this. The biggest tell here is a video from the Czech Republic, where everyone was forced to wear masks from the get-go. They only just recorded their first death a week ago.
  19. Mine is a COXDP-06, and takes one AA battery, of which I always have spares for various things. This makes me very happy. Simply unscrew the red ignition button and stick in a new AA. The simplicity of this whole getup is impressive. http://www.calorex.com.mx/calentadores/calorex/de-paso/de-paso-gen-2/calorex-coxdp-06-gen-2
  20. I installed a CalORex de paso a few months ago, and it works like a charm. Available locally, and everyone seems to know how to fix it... as opposed to a number of brands that no one knows how to fix beyond replacing the thermostat.
  21. They don't go into Black Coffee anyway. They park on the side lot and wait there. Beware regardless: while we were keeping our "social distance" gringas were rushing in and moving to the head of the line. I finally had to speak out loudly to stop that rude, dangerous activity.
  22. When unplugging and replugging, you need to wait several minutes for it to "drain". If you have your own Shaw account, you can go to their Website and do a refresh. But your situation sounds more like a cable has gotten loose somewhere between the dish and the box. My cleaning lady is forever moving my box just enough to loosen the cable jack at the back. (These cable ends are notoriously weak at securing the cable itself.)
  23. Exactly. Either he wasn't thinking, or he was. Who knows. But the point about getting better care is ridiculous.
