  1. Hard copies are available to purchase online from several sources.
  2. In Windows 8 and 10, there is no Control Panel icon for webcams. Generally speaking, that software comes pre-installed as a program on the laptop, which you might find in the popup menu when you click the Start icon, perhaps under 'Acer'... or click on the Search icon and type camera. Skype also has adjustments for webcams, as it automatically recognizes same, and you can always install Skype in English. You can also go to the Acer website and search Support for your laptop model number (which should be on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop), and look for Camera/webcam, to download the proper software.
  3. Thank you, Xena, for the name. I will be using it henceforth and forever.
  4. I have a number of customers who need help with their hearing. My first question is always "volume or bass"? A couple are very loathe to put the aids in, and I have to tell you, giving technical descriptions can be pretty interesting... Sometimes, I just put my hand on their shoulder and lean right into their ears. Space invading, yes, but it so accomplishes things.
  5. These guys back home would be called yard maintenance men.
  6. I have a sneaking suspicion you already know what everyone here is going to say...
  7. The better gardeners will never weed. The poorer gardeners have no skills. I've never found anyone in between. Had two of the better gardeners; their rates were ridiculous, but they find lots of work, usually in long-term situations with people who require much more work than I can offer. I would like someone who knows his stuff, and doesn't spend four hours just pruning and watering. My area is quite tiny.
  8. There are hundreds, if not thousands of expats living/visiting here who take it upon themselves to get involved in all kinds of local charities, as well as create like endeavours themselves. Places like Casi Nueva, orphanages, musical scholarships, HaveHammers... pet shelters, dog rescuers, church groups... the list goes on and on and on. The concept that someone who is better off must either a: shell out larger proportions of money, or b: cannot possibly be taking life around them into consideration because they didn't give a bigger raise... is misguided, and overtly judgmental. In fact, back home, pretty much the opposite rings true: the more I got, the less I am giving away, and my government better see it my way... don't be taxing me just 'cause I got, dammit! A 10% raise anywhere is pretty good. Particularly if it's based on an equitable wage. Just because many of us are used to spending everything we have to buy everything we want NOB, does not mean the same "greed from birth" applies to this community. Further, we are in a bubble here at lakeside; one who's financial situation is completely out of whack with much of Mexico.
  9. I have had the same housekeeper for years. I pay 220p for approx five hours of work. My lady is friendly, does great work, and is totally honest. I gift her with various things for herself and her family frequently throughout the year. I am not responsible for determining what this year's wages are going to be, based on inflation, for anyone.
  10. Many people pay between 40 and 50. You should not worry about the rate of exchange, any more than you would if you were in the U.S. or Canada. And there are those who believe that 40 is too much. However, we live lakeside, where financial expectations are embedded after all these years.
  11. In fact, the only reason we were there is because Tango is closed on Tuesdays, and Cocinart was also closed. It was our last night out with family from Canada before flying back to the snow. So we figured "Ack, it's been a long time... things must have improved, right?". =sigh= No matter how much the insanity of a busy Ajijic Tango, I still love their ribeye... but I can't bring myself to go there very often.
  12. Been to this lovely outdoor restaurant many times over the years, and perpetually disappointed. I go back every couple of years to see. Last night was no exception. All soups were lukewarm. Portobello salad was lukewarm. We watched as our plates piled up at the kitchen counter with no bell being run for service. We strained our collective necks in vain as our waiter continually disappeared. We pointed out to the waiter, finally, that these plates were cold. He nodded and disappeared completely. I get so tired of getting up and finding someone else to complain to. Finally the main courses arrived. The Camerones Vampiro were large and nicely done, but the red wine sauce, which was not a reduction, should never have been brought near this dish, as the taste was just... weird. Both the vacio and the ribeye were very tasty, but lower than room temperature. I had to grab a bus boy to get it back to the kitchen because this was the third delivery in a row that was cold, and that's too much. Eventually my steak returned; not a new one, but heated up. We had both ordered medium, and both were bloody after the first few bites. I was disgusted and pissed off. The wait staff cared not. When we mentioned it, we got no response, just a turn-tail.
  13. Very good friend of mine, Nyah Walters, is an expert at eSun Energy near WalMart. 331-400-2646
  14. Things seem to move much smoother there... here, it's almost like a problem that gov't employees have with expats...
  15. "Like this": the Like This functionality is a bit crippled, in my opinion, so I wonder if you agree. There is a setting in the admin controls to show the user names when "Like this" is selected in a topic.

This was a function of the previous software and it worked well; it has never been turned on with this newer software. Simply having a count of Likes does none of us really any good; we'd all like to see who our "friends" are. Would it be alright to ask if you could review my request for potential inclusion? Many thanks.... Mike

  16. You may not have noticed that this thread is six years old.
  17. Sounds like the guy who drives around delivering gas; I must have thrown out 50 business cards from him, which he fires over the fence after going hoarse from yelling.
  18. Has anyone been using the cell phone Internet service provided by TelCel or anyone else around here, that can provide us with up-to-date commentary on the pros and cons?
  19. Hensley, how much is a garrafon without the tip, do you know?
