I gave no thinking, I posted information only.

Please don't try to read between my lines or try to do remote mind-reading.

    Thanks.

It has to follow, that if I had to apply for membership, then I could resign/withdraw as a member.
Of course if I withdraw, I am not entitled to water delivery or trash pickup. I can still use the roads to get to my privada.

So apparently there is no law that requires a person to be a member of the Association, just as there is no law requiring the Association to provide a non-member anything other than water.

This is "no thinking" ? :D

CFE showed me in Chapala that my RFC number is on our account when I presented them my Constancia.  We haven't received a bill to see if it is on there yet, but, since I have personally seen the number recorded,  I'm not worried.

There is nothing to worry about, one way or the other.

Following ibarra's recommendation, I went to the papeleria in SA this morning to get my CSF. The girl asked if I was registered with SAT and I told her I had verified my RFC with my CURP using the government website. She asked if I wanted to wait as the system was slow and could take anywhere from 10 minutes to several hours to get a print out. I went back 2 hours later and she had my CSF. The only information which is not correct is my home address. Apparently I can update this information on line (will try but do not think its important). Thanks ibarra for your post.

See how easy it is to get what you need. Pay attention to what info is given by Viable sources.

No, I don't have a contrasena, the papeleria had/has one.  I see no reason for us to use the site as we have what we need... a Constancia, which can be copied and presented to businesses when requested.

Sometimes you just can't help people no matter how hard you try. You have explained over and over and they still run around in circles. Really sad, isn't it. :D

Hi everyone! I lived in Jaipur/other parts of India so extreme heat and humidity is not a deal breaker for me. We currently live in the southeastern US where temps are already in 90s with 90% humidity so I think my family can adapt. I know the climate/topography/cuisine/even language is different between Jalisco and Yucatán. I guess they are too distinct to make any "apples to apples" comparisons.

Many people have found this helpful in moving to Mexico:

I suspected sports and clubs would be separated from academics, so thank you all for confirming my hunch!

After reading your list of candidate cities/areas and your comments on clubs, it is obvious that money considerations are not a concern for your family. With that in mind, my suggestion for your Strong Consideration would be Queretaro, which has a very large influx of young people and families that work from the Internet.(more coming every day) Yes, it is an expensive city(yet much cheaper than SMA), very modern, but with a beautiful Centro Historico, excellent year round weather (except April/May, which is hot everywhere in Mexico). Excellent/modern private schools, many beautiful and safe areas to live, with all amenities/parks, etc. Lots of modern sports activities available for all ages. Excellent medical/dental/hospital/airport/transportation. I think that once you look into Queretaro, the more you will feel it is where you will want to be.

The exchange rate for debit cards with the Visa or Mastercard logo is set daily by those companies. Not the issuing bank not the ATM. Some bank atms offer the option of using that bank's exchange rate which here is not as good as the Visa/MC rate.  You can check the Visa or MC rate on their respective websites

You know, it is really sad that after you have explained this so many times, so many still do not understand it and continue to accept the bank rate of exchange ("the conversion rate is not the greatest").They also seem not to understand that Visa and MC set the exchange rates and when it changes. Really sad.

Isn't that true for nearly most cities in the world?  But most blocks in the centro are safe at night.  I am a frequent late night outer and have been so for the past 10 years.  I have never felt threatened or seen anything scary apart from a wino trying to bum a smoke. I have always felt very safe in Chapala.

    Most, but not all.

Obviously, you have not ventured into those blocks. I hope you don't.

  9. There is quality education available here. Rarely since 1997 have I seen what I would call children of foreigners walking the streets at Lakeside. When I do, it is usually Holiday season and they are with what looks like grandpa and/or grandma. Of course, the quality education in these private schools is very expensive and that eliminates all but fairly wealthy families. I only know of 1 child that was Mexican/American that attended for 12 years locally in private schools and did well. However, testing to attend college at Texas A &: M University had to go to Blinn College (a Jr. College) first to take some English and Math classes before they would let her attend A & M.

???? What is it on and what kind of paper does it need to be on?

I went to the local papeleria today and she got the Constancia de Situacion Fiscal and printed it for me. $100.00 MXN.  There is a sign there listing that, so the Mexican community is going in there to get it also. She told me  I do not need the Cedula de Identificacion Fiscal. If someone asks me for one I can get it then, I have the most important one I guess.

The Constancia has ALL the numbers you might ever need. Better than getting the RFC just by itself.

As I sit here in Seattle for another 4 weeks or so, waiting for the rainy season to start lakeside before I return, I was calmed down by watching what you shared with us, Jim.

Maybe 15 years ago when I was writing Tech Talk for the Guadalajara Reporter, I remember well getting my CURP and I think RFC, and somewhere in an old file in my home in Ajijic, I have all of that stuff.  What I cannot remember, is whether the RFC I got is a real one or a fake one. I'm pretty sure it is a real one. But if not, it's not the end of the world, as I was thinking before watching that YouTube video. :)

No reason for people to get their panties is a wad over these changes. They will all get done some day, or not. This is Mexico.
