Speaking of Telmex...my telephone bill went up from $389 (for months/years) to $468 last month.  I am not complaining but I have not heard if this was an across-the-board increase.  It came as a new bill delivered last month.

If you pay it, you lose.

I agree with the above comment.  Also I would add that some expats who have disappeared do not want to be found.

I doubt if most kidnappers would choose an expat over a wealthy Mexican but then it does happen.  No one wants the FBI involved because that shuts down their trafficking profits.  Guess I'm just getting cynical.

FBI in Mexico? Doubt Mexico permits that.

It might have been great to some Texas baseball fans but :

The Texas Rangers 5-0 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks for their first championship on Wednesday night drew the largest audience of this World Series. However, it was not enough to prevent the five-game series from being the least-watched Fall Classic in recorded TV history.

So? Who cares? I watched it, that is all that counts for me. :D

Specifically, BP meds and statins (but not limited to these). Which places have the best prices without sacrificing quality?

Not sure what you mean by "sacrificing quality" but I have read recently about a flood of fake meds being sold in Mexico as real meds. I would think that that would be found in the smaller "corner" farmacias, not the major chains.

    And how much?

    thanks everyone

I got it for about 4 times from the same location and the 5th time I asked the same lady to show me the bottle it came from. Said it was B6, not B12. She said that was all they had and every time I had asked for B12, but she gave me B6. You better ALWAYS double check, if your life is important to you. Mexicans would rather make a sale that tell you they don't have it.

In this scenario, shouldn't the ATM software at some point inform the user's bank that it didn't receive an OK response, so the user's acct can be credited?

In this 2nd scenario, if CI Banco is acting in good faith, shouldn't they be able to provide Lexy with the fault logs?

Since she received the receipt, obviously her bank sent the "ok". So, it seems that the ultimate scenario happened: "The other rare possibility which happened to me once is that the money is actually dispensed but gets jammed in the dispensing mechanism. In this case the ATM should go out of service. The next time the 3rd party comes to fix or balance the machine there's the cash which can easily slip into a pocket. In that case you're out of luck."

  7. Everyone that still lives here loves it, although several are constant complainers about one thing or another. The other 50% that returned to their original country after some time, left because they hated it, or for other reasons. Whatever, they are no longer here. 50% is pretty typical for those who move to Mexico. Don't break all your ties where you will be coming from in case you are the latter 50%.

Education or training is the key to help people.. giving food, clothing , overpaying etc can only be temporary, It is a blackhole and have people expecting to be helped...not good in the long run for anyone.

Agree. My Mexican wife from GTO made me aware of that in our first year of marriage.

Folks when it comes to salery's paid.... in case you have been living under a rock, there are 2 economy's here'''them" and "us" ....either by being shocked at the "normal" low wages and feeling compelled to pay a "living" wages, or because we have significant discretionary   income....we/us mostly pay over and above the local ( and Guad) Mexican community for services rendered. Regardless what you do, if you feel warm and comfortable and can sleep at night..........so be it

Lake, you need to speak only for yourself. The comment "because we have significant discretionary income" certainly does not apply to my wife and I, nor several people we know here from NOB. So, if you want to pick up the slack from what we can afford and what you can afford, feel free to do just that. BUT, please, speak for yourself here; don't include those of us who are in the row boat with one paddle, not in the cabin cruiser with you and your friends. Fortunately, we do sleep good at night.

Thanks, Phil, very interesting.  I spoke with one of the USAA "resolution" women, after the decision was made in CIBanco's favor. I was very upset. She was very sympathetic, said she could tell from my voice how miserable I felt. But that changed nothing. I'll be calling again. And writing, and so on.

But it can be a weird bank to deal with. After my husband died--he was prime owner on the account, as a retired seaman, US Navy. USAA caters to US military--I received a condolence letter from the bank president three years after his death.

So many people here are naming CIBanco. That's worth noting.  I wonder if it's enjoying its malfunctioning ATM.

My bet is on the person(s) who restock the money in the machines. The local bank has no connection with them at all. In the past they have put 200p notes in the 500p slots, etc. It is a crap shoot if you are the one getting them.

Ibarra--I haven't given up. First I was upset, now I'm mad-angry. I"m about to show USAA the published letter. I'm following through in every way I can think of. But with the stupidity of USAA's handling of it, it's an uphill battle.  Problem is, USAA has deducted $607 usd from my checking account and presumably "reimbursed" CIBanco. CIBanco has no incentive to an appeal from me to them. And they know they have a faulty machine.

Same problem, almost same amount, same CI BANCO, except in Leon, Gto. 4 months ago, using Schwab. Schwab said I got the money and was denied. I'm only 80, but so far have not robbed any banks either. Use BanBajio now. Excellent, but only 10,000 p at a time.

Debated long and hard on this, but HAVE to speak up.  Used Juan in 3 houses starting +/- 2003. (Ajijic east and San A) Always excellent. Moved to Villa Nova Mar '22..... wasn't sure if he came out this far. Previous tenant used "Oscar and Antonio".  OK --- in the area, Oscar speak English ( in case of miscommunication tho' I'm pretty fluent), and came promptly when called June, Aug, Dec. Could tell from tank size and gauge before/after wasn't cheating.  (+/- 30 to 80 each trip tho'  pushed every time to go to 85 but I said tank/ house are old, prefer not take chances)

Then came Mar 1so easy to do to just stand there and watch them zero out the meter and then read the final amount.0 this year. Gauge on tank showed 32 (usually 30 when I called).  After filling showed 80 ( as always ).  BUT this time  his meter on truck said they filled 222L.  That's impossible with a 300 L tank with the gauges reading as they did.  His angry response when I freaked?  Your tank is wrong... the gauge is not working....... how dare you call me a liar!!! Got very belligerent when I showed him previous bills. So shocked I just paid them (extra $600 over what I expected)

But what I know REALLY happened is they arrived with a meter uncleared from the last delivery. Happy to share name of their company and their phone numbers to anyone who pm's me. Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me.  Twice will NEVER happen!!!

It takes so little time and effort to just stand at the truck and see them zero out to start and then read the final amount.  Then, never a question. You have no "actual" proof that your tank did not take 222L, yet you accused him of cheating you. I say "shame on you" for not doing your due diligence. Things are not how they seem sometimes, so take care of your responsibility and stop leaving it to others.
